Hi Lelly,
I am doing four CD type products most days, trying to drink 3L of water (I have some flavourings I have just started using: Crystal Light -- I used this when I did LL and it did not affect my ketosis), and if I am really hungry or cranky I will have a Weight Watchers Low Cal Cheese stick (50 cals) or a 1/4 cup of lightly salted nuts (cashews or peanuts). I also have some lovely ginger tea that I will have in the evenings -- it has a sweet taste (used it when on LL and it never affected my ketosis or losses).
My typical day's menu is
Lots of coffee with artificial sweetner (preferably Splenda tabs)
Water (some with flavourings).
Breakfast:
Oatmeal (small packet, not CD though because I hate the texture of theirs) and 1/4 cup of slivered almonds mixed into it. (160 cals)
Snack: WW Cheese Stick (2) (100 cals) OR 1/4 cup of nuts (180)
Lunch:
A Southbeach Diet Bar (180 cals).
Low Carb and higher in protein than CD.
Dinner:
A CD soup (I quite like the Oriental, Chicken and Mushroom and Vegetable ones). (138 cals)
Late Night Snack:
A CD shake made with Mix-a-Mousse (Choc Mint, Choc Orange, Choc, Butterscotch, tried so far, and all yummy). (138 cals)
So, my total calories range between about 640ish to 800ish.
I did the LL Foundation pretty much by the book (and lost about 5 stone). But, for this "relose" (2.5 stone) I decided to do a more balanced approached. I know that using WW would force me to learn portion control and good decision making, but I think I could stick to it better with more of a "all or nothing" approach.
And, my sister (who is a physiologist) had me read the data that showed people lose weight at the same rate on 880 calories as day as they do on a true (i.e. under 500 calories) VLCD diet. This is because your body thinks it is going through a period of famine and becomes very efficient.
In summary, what I am currently doing is not totally sole source it more like 810. It is working for me. The few times I tried to SS last year (as I did for most of 2010, I was on again, then off... repeat) I found it very hard.
This time, I started out by SSing for 2 weeks and then came up with this "compromise". I had to find something that worked for me, now. I have lost 9 pounds in January, and have been "on plan" for 35 days! This is best I have done (by far) since my original 2008 VLCD.
I am hoping (expecting) to be at goal and maintaining by the beginning of April. Then, I will face a real challenge -- I will be in the US for 9 days (with two travel days) and will have to make very good Low GI, South Beach type food choices. And, I am prepared to go back to CD immediately upon return if need be. "A stitch in time, saves nine" could be translated for into "drop the pounds asap or they will pile back on quickly".
I hope you have a good Sunday.
