My SW diary, by Bess.

Morning Bess, don't panic just yet. Plenty of water and perhaps a low-carb day today will flush it all out?

I am not being very good at the moment either. Bars of chocolate keep finding themselves in my mouth  I have avoided the scales at all costs, as I know that more than anything will start the downward spiral into "oh s*d it".

I am going to have to start writing my food diary again. I've been very lax with it for a few weeks now. I've only 5 and a bit weeks now until the cruise and need to get my finger out!!!

Be kind to yourself hun, like Mel says better to tread water for a while than sink.

Drink plenty of water and get back on plan missus! You will be fine - even if you show a gain tomorrow as long as you focus on your free foods it will be gone by next week.

Have a great day! :)

13.10 - Weigh in day and a STS, totally undeserved but relieved!

yay for STS the same Bess, better than going backwards eh! onwards and downwards for this week un, you can do it!

xx

Bess - an STS is GOOD! Its not a gain which you were sort of expecting methinks.

Try to get back on plan and it will work.

Yay for Bess! Well done you clever girly.

13.9 with a tiny flicker of 13.8 showing and boy, am I going to chase that!

A very Bad Bess yesterday, one homemade sausage roll, because I was late and didn't have time to get something better to eat, plus they'd been calling me from the pantry......an hour after which I had to run to the loo - hmm, that should tell me something. And later a piece of fish from a fish shop - I was out working late. I was only going to eat the fish...but.....and it wasn't even nice.

Have finished Marissa but not had chance to listen to the CD yet. The book wasn't a revelation to me, I suppose it might be to some people who eat fast food, but it was useful in that it reinforces and confirms much of what I already know and is therefore encouraging. It also opens up a whole debate about what to eat - organic, even though the food may have many food miles and be old when you eat it v. local but occasionally sprayed and so on....but I'm taking it at face value, I think that's better. I do take issue with her about sone of the things she writes about milk though, I'd need to see much more evidence and not believe what I have seen to believe some of that.
Of course as a non milk drinker it's irrelevant to me really anyway. The nutritional info things was interesting as well. :)

As I said yesterday....blinded by science and it wasn't doing me any good. IMO healthy food, cooked from scratch, a varied diet, the odd treat and the big key for me is to GET OFF MY A$$ AND MOVE!!!! It can't be rocket science can it. Obesity is such a modern disease. All this 'knowledge' from all these 'experts' and nations are getting fatter.

I am throwing all my books away and going to try to do what I know works. :D:D

Here endeth the lesson :);) xx

PS. Yay for the flicker Bess xxx

The way I see it is that she believes that dairy, sugar and bread makes you fat and therefore does her best to make these foods appear repulsive - as then it's easier to resist. I think this is a useful tool and adapt it to suit me. I will never completely give up dairy because I was brought up to believe it was good for me and I haven't seen any real evidence to the contrary so I will continue to enjoy it (although I don't have much anyway and all organic). Sugar, on the other hand, I know is bad for me - my migraine is concrete evidence of that - so I'm using her tools to make it less tempting. Watching her on youtube showing the 15 year old sweets looking like new had a big impact. Thinking about the fact that there is no real food in sugary sweets (say Jelly beans) - I might as well be eating flavoured playdough and that's just gross. As you have seen in my diary it is not stopping me eating sweets completely but I do think it has helped take the edge off my cravings for the stuff. Again bread isn't really my thing and when I do eat it it's the Scandinavian variety (Rye bread and similar) so that's not what is keeping me overweight.

So for me, it's not so much what she says but her approach to losing weight / staying slim that appeals to me.

Have a good day and stay away from the sausage rolls :D

Yes, I find she's sort of pushed her thinking to the front of my mind, which can only be a good thing. And I think the fact that much of what she said isn't new to me is useful too, a bit like revision, it may 'stick' better?!

I just need some peace to listen to the CD now!

13.8, without the flicker! :)

Oh Phew! You've just rescued me. Over the last couple of years, my confidence has taken such a battering thinking I didn't know/wasn't capable of losing weight. Darn CD! SW started the change and you've just confirmed it dear Chels, you and Alli. xxx

ps. and Lelly!! xxx

Yay - love the lack of flicker :)

Am sitting at the station having run (yes run ) for 5 minutes to catch an apparently imaginary train. Not impressed - I swear I checked the time before I left. Am wheezing and coughing and in desperate need of a few Sandhurst sessions! :)

Have a good day!

Yeah, what she said! And remember I am the queen of STS! (Two freakin' months)

I got a Taco Bell taco salad at RAF Lakeneath for dinner yesterday (in a bowl not fried tortilla thing) thinking in was a healthy option. However, it has rice and refried beans mixed up and in the bottom of the bowl. The rice and beans were not very nice -- they had sat too long and were overcooked. I was starting to eat them anyway, then I remember what Beck wrote about our bodies not bing a rubiish bin and to only put into it what is good for it (or at least "worth the calories") - so I ate the lettuce, etc. and tossed the rubbish. CREDIT (at least partial -- I should planned better).
