Nyssa's Atkins Diary

hi, i think the atkins bars thing is to do with the alcohol sugar things aolols that i have no idea what they are called but i am sure u know what i mean, the stuff they stick in them. i followed ww for a while and found it easy when going out having that handy eating out book with all the points in, but i find atkins just as easy, i have a steak salad or a mixed grill and job done. what dont u like about being in ketosis? do u think its dangerous? its true tho you do have to have your mind right to get into the zone of any diet. xx

I was on a vlcd for 10 weeks and I lost a lot of hair, I'm presuming it was of ketosis an that's what scares me going back into it :(

A mixed grill!!! Oh god this sounds better by the minute lol

I used to love salads but I've gone off them now urgh! Not sure why!! Love my veg though!!

Losing? Pffft! I don't even know what that is anymore lol I'm sts all the time, just like I will of stayed the same tomorrow on my WI and that's with having s&s packs for a few days instead of meals!!!

Yes you can have sausages as they are protein but not the reduced fat ones as they normally have more carbs, you can have bacon aswell and because you can't have crisp I snack on pork scratchings!

Atleast you are not gaining tho unlike I did!

Hoping it doesn't effect me as I have 45 bars on the way and they really help me if I need something sweet and it feels like an indulgent treat x
 
i didnt know being in ketosis could cause that.

i usually have my mixed grill in Frankie & Bennys mmmm
 
Being in ketosis caused me to have 2 bald patches on the front of my head on both sides lol I now have some tufts where it's growing back but I'm willing to risk it again to lose the weight.
 
Well to be honest I'm not sure if it's actually ketosis that causes it or something else, see on Atkins you are eating so it seems different but I'm not sure?! Maybe I should find out if it was ketosis or was it due to actually only having the minimum vitamins from the vlcd packs? What ya think Nyssa?

Definately worth looking into as someone on s&s is a hairdresser and she said it was down to the lack of protein or something?
 
Hi folks, my understanding is that hair loss on vclds is due to low calories not ketosis per se. No reason to have any issues as long as you are eating well on atkins- plenty of calories for your body to maintain while still being fat burning:)

Definately have a good read and if your worried about missing carbs have a look at the recipies tab and the sticky for mims ( muffin in a minute) using flax seed there's lots of recipies on there x

You start off on induction for a minimum of 2 weeks and you only count carbs maximum of 20 but no need to count anything else so realistically you can be eating 2000 cals and be in ketosis
 
So crazy lol I'm like should I give it a go before I go Portugal or should i wait till I get bak?! Because I will be coming out of it on holiday xxx

i would wait if i were you then you can have a fresh start after your holls and you can take the Atkins book away with you and read it while you are relaxing in the sun, that way when you get back you will be refreshed and know all you need to about atkins x
 
You can easily stick to it on holiday hun just eat meats and salads and veg and I'm sure you will still be in ketosis if your over the 20g of carb but you normally work your way up to more carbs x
