Post Break Up Body

Today's food. For lunch, I had some stinky cheese and cucumber as I was feeling very very lazy. And dinner was the standard pizza.

I have decided to mix things up for the next few days. There is multi-day coastal walk near me, so I've packed a bag and booked an inn along the trail for tomorrow night. I might just do two days walking or see how I feel and continue on. The trail is 9 days long, so I certainly won't run out of road before I've had enough.

That means that I'll be taking it easy on the diet for the next few days. Similar to the ski trip, I'll just aim for smart choices, but won't calorie count. And I'm on my own for this, so I'll be doing a lot less drinking!

oh sounds lovely, and the weather is looking pretty good as well. I'm hoping to get out for a decent stretch tomorrow, but haven't decided where yet. I did suggest to OH we borrowed his dad's dog, but he wants to go to rugby with another team: they train 11-12, so I feel like it's a waste of the morning.

Really misjudged my planned walk today and it ended up being 20 miles! Feet very blistered so we will see how I bandage them up for tomorrow's walk.

The walk itself was beautiful and challenging over the cliffs. Lovely section on the beach in the morning and walked through a seaside town at lunch.

Had some calamari for early lunch and kept a few to snack on later in the day. Just got to the inn and their menu is very impressive. Having pigeon breast starter and artichoke main. Glass of wine, of course.

Ouch! Be careful with blisters. If you can get some Compeed, they are a godsend. Bandages can potentially cause more rubbing.

Nice going on the 20 miles though! Calamari is my favourite, and lovely sounding menu at the inn.

Hope feet aren't too sore tomorrow.

I was actually thinking of you managing 26 milles in one day. What a challenge. I'm not sure I could do it.

The food was amazing. Ended up talking to 2 other solo walkers including one whose birthday is tomorrow ( but she was Austrian and they celebrate the night before). So I had many glasses of wine. Nevermind.

Breakfast tomorrow is at 8am and then a big old walk

The 26 is an event, with a big crowd around. The atmosphere definitely helps then!

Lovely to meet other walkers. Are they heading the same way as you? I think I'm going to head to Aberdare and have a wander through the valleys today. It's absolutely gorgeous here and I refuse to waste the day!

They were going opposite, which is always the way. But I was feeling a bit heavy headed today, so pleased to be on my own and go at my own pace.

So glad you got out, it's just been the perfect walking weather this weekend.

Yes, absolutely stunning!

Hah it is always the way. But I agree, sometimes your own pace and route is best. I generally walk on my own, which is good, because I like to explore!

Today's food:

Made use of the free brekky this morning. Ate the continental options of yogurt, cheese and ham (250 cal?), then packaged up the cooked breakfast for later. So my walking snacks for the day were sausage bacon and scrambled egg. Probably 500 cal and great protein.

Walked 13 miles along the coast to the inn I'm staying at tonight and my room has a roll top bath! Was straight in there to soothe aching feet. Then downstairs to the pub for dinner. I had burrata at 400 cal, and roast beef at 800 cal (it is Sunday). Also had a cawston press for 60 cal.

So total calories around 2000 for the day, which is a change from the last few weeks.

Legs feeling a bit stiff today. Will see how we are looking tomorrow. I'd like to get another leg of the route done at least.

Jealous of your multi day walk! I'd love to get out and do something similar along the coastal path. I've done bits of it. A friend has just moved to Swansea, so will be nagging her to head out with me!

I've never done a multi-day point to point walk before, but I have all this free time at the moment and was feeling restless in the house. Really enjoying it. My sister and I would both like to walk the Camino one day (well, the last bit) but I think that's a few years away.

Another day. Another 11 miles under my belt. Think I've got one more day in me and then I'll head home. I went out to get dinner and my leg is so stiff with muscle soreness, but only the left leg for some reason. I was wondering if it might be because I've been walking along the cliffs and that is the downhill leg most of the time. Otherwise, I'm not sure.

For food today, I took a similar approach to yesterday. I ate yoghurt (150 cal) at the inn and then packed away bacon, sausage and egg (600 cal) to eat while I walked. I think the lack of green vegetables has caught up with me a bit though, as that and milk are usually my main carb source. Felt a little queasy by the time I got to the hotel and had a couple of those biscuits (150 cal) they always leave in the room. That sorted me out.

Staying at a lovely B&B and the owners recommended a fish restaurant for dinner. I had oysters (100 cal) plus mackerel and salad (500 cal). Then added a non-alcoholic G&T (80 cal) for a few extra carbs as the salad wasn't much help in that regard.

Total 1600 calories.

Tomorrow I've got another complimentary breakfast and I think I'll add baked beans and maybe a hash brown to my packed breakfast to ensure I'm getting enough carbs. I've never been a fan of proper keto diets because I really hate that nauseated feeling. Love low carb, hate keto. But it is a lot harder to get in the kind of carbs that I like when you have fixed food options.

Fish restaurant sounds amazing. I have food and walk envy again!

The one side thing is very possibly related to cliff walking. I know I usually feel it in the supporting leg after those sort of walks!

Enjoy tomorrow.

Last day of my walk today. Did 90kms or so in total. My feet are very sore right now and I think I will be avoiding walking for a few days. But otherwise I really enjoyed the trip. Staying in the same B&B tonight then I'll get the train home tomorrow after poking in a few shops in the morning.

Food today, the breakfast was really great. Had a bowl of Greek yogurt with seed and berries (300 cal), Also ordered scrambled egg and beans but could only manage half (200 cal). I packed up 2 sausages and 2 hash browns to eat on the walk (600 cal). Between the beans and the hash browns I got a lot more carbs and felt great all day.

Because my feet are so sore, I decided not to go out in the evening so no dinner. Probably good to help me get closer to my typical 800 calorie days.

Total Calories 1100.

I am a little nervous about breakfast tomorrow. The food was so good today, so I'm definitely wanting to have lots again tomorrow, but I do want to get back into my 800 allowance again. If I aim for another 1100 tomorrow then by Thursday I can be back on track.

That sounds sensible. I know I'm also terrible for under eating when I've definitely burned more calories than normal.

Sounds like you've had an amazing trip x

Yes, I was hoping to get in a dinner yesterday, but once I lay on the bed at 4pm that was the end of that idea.

This morning is the first day without sore leg muscles. Of course, the sore feet have completely replaced them on the niggle watchlist. I'd love to do the next section of this walk sometime soon, but I'd think a bit more about footwear. I feel like I might have been better with comfy runners than boots. I'm going to read up a bit.

The footwear conundrum is real! I have a pair of trail trainers, which I love. But generally wear my boots, because they give a bit more support. But I've got for walking trainers for Trek, because of the grip. It's a fine balance!

Yeah, it's very tough to know what to do. I definitely need to do something about my footwear situation, even if it's better socks or new boots.

Back home today. I was walking back from the station like the walking wounded, but I've had a great time. Definitely something to do for future holidays.

Today's food; I got back into a pretty normal routine of 2 meals, although I had breakfast at the B&B and then dinner in the house.
For breakfast, I had another greek yoghurt with berries, seeds and nuts (300 calories) and some scrambled egg and salmon (200 calories). I again was not able to finish the full portion of egg due to feeling full.
For dinner, I had stir fry pork with veg from the fast 800 recipe book (300 calories).

Will be great to have a bit of control over food choice tomorrow. Lots of veg in my thoughts as I feel like I've been quite limited the last few days. And no egg. Please no more egg.

Laughing about the eggs - not the walking wounded!

Glad you had a good time. And you definitely had the weather for it.

Socks make a massive difference. I love the Hilly second skin socks, but it took me a while to find the "right" ones.
