Pregnancy and Baby Advice Thread: From Conception to Birth, and Beyond!

Hey Hun

Should you be taking iron tablets even if iron levels ok? Do you take a pregnancy multivitamin anyway? If you do then be careful taking any more iron. My mw said high iron levels can be as dangerous as low ones.

Sorry if I have misunderstood xxx

Yea see this is what I thought. N mentioned it to her at them time. But she said still take them?? I did point out that pregnacare already contain 17mg of iron...

Hmm. I already take pregnacare and she said not to take any other iron tablets because that already has the recommended dosage. Anyone else on this forum had advice on taking extra iron tablets before delivery?

I got told there was enough in pregnacare and shouldn't take anything else unless prescribed by doctor for low iron, which I never had x

Hmm... Well I don't plan on taking it for a couple of weeks anyway.. And am at the hospital on thursday this week for a scheduled check up so will ask then..
I agree with you girls 100% though... Coz its what I'd been told previously too... My own iron levels are spot on and I add in as much greens as poss to my diet as well as super milk which has iron plus pregnacare so I think I'm covered... Thanks ladies :) xx

I was prescribed iron tablets (still am!) and I was told not to take anything else containing iron with them so I stopped taking pregnacare and starting taking vit d and folic acid separately.

I second all of that! You don't need extra iron tabs unless your doc prescribes them. Rasp leaf tea and primrose oil is another kettle of fish! How do you like your rasp tea? I thought it tasted like pond water to begin with but by the end I quite liked it!
Abbie is now 6 and a half months old. Time is really flying! Starting to organise going back to work :'(

I want to open one for Cole too. All I know is you need his birth certificate but we've not looked into each bank yet. Xx

I've got one for Abbie, we got a young savers one (if I remember right!) with lloyds. Didn't get a junior isa as if we saved her some money for uni or a car or whatever, at the age of 18 she can go and blow it on whatever she wants and we have no say! X

Hi mummies,

Little question about boobs!

My apps for the last few weeks have mentioned leaking boobs, but I literally have nothing and am 35 weeks tomorrow. Is this normal? Or does this mean something bad like I'm not going to get any milk come in? I know that must sound silly but it worries me seeing as I want to try breast feeding. Like, when she's born and tries to latch on I worry I'm not going to be able to?

So my question really is for anyone who has been 35 weeks pregnant or later - have you had leaking boobs yet? And to those mummies who have had their babies - did your boobs leaking/not leaking have any affect on milk coming in whether you breastfed or not?

Thanks in advance :)

Don't stress hun, I got nowt and I've been fine. Some people do some people don't, same as some get stretch marks others don't. It's the labour and placenta coming away that trigger the release of hormones that aid bf and milk production.

Ahh ok :) that makes me feel better thank you. I think it's the whole "will my body do what it's meant to" that was worrying me! I was the same before I fell pregnant...always wondered if my body would "work" and let me produce/grow/home a baby. It's good to know that leakage or no leakage doesn't indicate how milk production is going to go! :)

Thanks hun xx

Thanks for asking this Jess as I've recently been thinking the same as I've had no leakage at all and really want to try breast feeding.. I thought at 35 weeks I'd have had something :/ x

No worries hun x your not alone :) xx

Mine didn't leak at all so don't worry! My milk came in late but that was because I had a c section so I don't think the two things are related. I still don't leak now after a month of bf, have only had a couple of leaky incidents both at night. Don't worry ladies xxx
