Pregnancy and Baby Advice Thread: From Conception to Birth, and Beyond!

Oh i know how you feel - i just got up to go to the toilet and the pressure was so intense on my bladder and cervix i wasn't sure i could actually walk to the bathroom - i sort of waddled/shuffled out the office trying to move as little as possible!
I wonder if it's a sign that baby has engaged?

doubt it for me as im 20 weeks lol.

funny at play group today with Jacob, one of the ladies asked how long ive left and was so shocked i was only half way!! lol

Ha ha ha.. People are shocked when I tell them I've only 5.5 weeks left coz I'm so small :(
Gona ask at my appointment on Thursday for my uterus/baby to be measured as so many people are saying it to me now that I'm kinda getting worried.. My tummy hasn't yet been measured at all... Dunno if its the norm over here not to measure but I'd imagine they need some way of telling she's growing nicely?!

I thought they started measuring around 28 weeks (first time mine was measured....well apart from the very nervous trainee doctor who measured me at 16 weeks ) Might be worth asking as i thought that was the main indicator for growth - along with a good feel of the tummy. Saying that i look huge but my measurements were bang on at 32 weeks - so i guess looks can be deceiving and i am sure you probably have a long body so more room for bubs to be in which means less of a bump. xx

At 20 weeks my monkey liked to stuff itself inside my pelvis which caused loads of pressure...so maybe yours is doing something similar! :) x

They've each had a good feel of my tummy so maybe they are "measuring" in their heads but they're not saying anything other than this is where how high your uterus is ATM... But never have I gotten "you're measurements on track/ahead/behind" nothing...
I know bump isn't really an indicator but as it stands I've nothing to go on.. I know my BP and wee is fine but that's it... I guess I wouldn't even worry if I didn't know you lady's were being measured as I'd be none the wiser...
Am there on Thursday this week anyway so i'll ask the Q... No harm.. :)

Also want to ask about a kidney infection in pregnancy... I only visited my GP last Wednesday and all was perfect.. But the last couple of days when I need a wee, I get this awful pressure pain and am almost half afraid to "release" and go
Though once I do the pain is gone?? So I'm wondering if maybe I've developed a kidney (or other) infection since then... Or if its just normal pregnancy pressure pain??

I was first measured at 25 weeks and was measuring 30!!! But it gradually caught up and by the time I had Cole I was spot on in my measurements. I'd definitely ask. I had to ask if baby was engaged and by how much otherwise midwife wouldn't have told me.

It could be normal as it sounds like what i get at times but definitely worth checking as urine infections aren't fun if left.....i personally think it's baby pressing on the bladder/pelvic floor/just about everything else down there, as for me it only happens occasionally rather than every time i go to the toilet and i would expect an infection to be every time you go.

Its probably written somewhere in my file but as they've done bloods the last couple of times I've been, I don't have it... So hopefully they give it to me this week to take home and I'll have a good read through.. But as most of it is gobble-de-gook to me I'll ask the question...
TBH I never even got a proper dating scan!!! *rolls eyes*

Yea see its every time I go for the past few days... Well, everytime I hold it for more than 5 mins til I go...

For me there were a really tight sensation across my bump - not painful but uncomfortable! Stops you in your tracks though if you're walking. I had a lot of them and they got more intense as time went on xxx

Thanks Missy :)

The reason why I ask is I've been experiencing a "sensation" for a few weeks now, happens every now and again (apart from today where it's been non-stop). My bump feels as though it's tightening, and at the same time makes me feel short of breath - almost as if my lungs/chest is tightening at the same time. I've never been able to work out if it's definitely BH or not, or if its just baby stretching. It doesn't feel like what I'd imagine a "contraction" to feel like. Just a tight sensation in my tum...definitely feels uncomfortable, and not painful at all. Has been making me stop what I'm doing because of the shortness of breath x

I don't think I had any (think I would have known if I had) so can't help unfortunately :( xx

For me they're painful... Especially last night as you may have read... Woke up me they were so strong.. but yea its tightening around the end of the bump where the muscle contracts as it would during a real contraction...
Mine was so painful this morning that if that was minor compared to real contractions.. Then I want the epidural put in NOW...
I actually thought I'd gone into labour last night it was that sore... Its gradually got worse as time has gone on but as you know i've been getting it quite strong since pretty early on.. Think I was getting them for Sarah too.. Seen as she didn't get it.. lol

Oh bless you hun lol I did laugh at the Epidural being put in now! Ha x you'll have to watch them as I don't know if they are painful? Unless your just having very intense ones! Just keep an eye on it hun :) xxx

I mentioned it to my GP once and he laughed at me when I told him I thought they weren't painful.. He said "they're not called practice contractions for nothing"
He said not to worry unless they become regular and get more intense as they come.. And if they last for more than about an hour...

Ok good :) I'm sure we will all "know" when we are in labour anyway :) x

I've had loads of BHs today... Like at least 1 every half an hour...at least! Xx

If you have started raspberry leaf tea hun you will probably find them a bit stronger for a while, I know I did, but it settled again after a week or so. X
