Pregnancy and Baby Advice Thread: From Conception to Birth, and Beyond!

Not really had it happen, but i have read that swelling is quite common as your uterus gets bigger and heavier...maybe you are just suffering with the swelling down there - are you swelling anywhere else? if putting your legs up helps it suggests it could possibly be fluid accumulating, but you could always ask your midwife just to be sure! Doesn't sound very nice so sorry you are suffering from this! hope it doesn't happen lots for you xx
No swelling anywhere else.. I have read that it can occur due to the extra blood flow...
Its not usually that bad but maybe coz I'd be doing so much (not allot but when 6 months pregnany allot) physical activity with doing the bedroom stripping... And standing for so long...
Its not bad now at all.. Was just that one night... Its grand now.. Just thought I'd mention in case anyone had any tips for if/when it doesn't happen again

Ooo poor you. Yes I had it too, can be very sore. Might be TMI but mine was made 100% worse by accidentally getting hair removal cream on it when trying to get tidied up before labour - just a word of caution! I've never been in so much agony!
Anyhow...not much you can do for it really, just congestion of veins etc to growing baby, same as swollen legs and varicose veins.
I found elevating my legs helped and wearing really loose clothing-ended up buying cheap pants about 3 sizes too big as they didnt rub as much.
Goes afterwards tho.
How many weeks are you now? Xx
Yea have been worried about going near with anything so have kinda just left it TBH... As am still shaving ATM I kinda just gently go over it a tad to "lighten" it but am leaving it...
I tried the oversized underwear but find it much more uncomfortable...
Great to know there's nothing can be done tho lol
Is it OK to put Vaseline on do you think?? Just to kinda stop any friction rubbing coz it can sometimes feel like there's blisters starting to form.. So far none have formed but it can feel kinda raw as if they're there under the skin...

In fairness its usually not too bad.. Just Friday night was so painful I even told Jonathan!!!
Am 26+4...

Hehe, I'm sure Vaseline won't cause any harm.
You try shaving when you're 40 weeks though! I couldn't reach around my bump!
I remember those days of having a huge 'to do list before baby comes' I don't think we ever finished it!

I know.. Its already kinda a blind job and I'm no big by any means... People still tell me most days you'd not think I was pregnant... So I've bought an electric trimmer for the later weeks coz then I won't be able cut myself but can hopefully keep it somewhat tidy....

I CLENCH thinking of Jess (G) going for her Hollywood waxing when I'm already feeling this with just my pants touching... LOL

There is no way I would have let anyone anywhere near me with hot wax! Fair play to her tho!

Girls, are any of you having dizzy spells now you're later on? The last few days I've had a few and id only been standing for no more than five minutes. I'd eaten so wasn't hungry, drank plenty and had tested my blood sugars which were fine. Hope it's not starting again, I really don't fancy a repeat performance of the summer!!!

Sadly so. I sometimes have them when I've over done it, walking up hill or stairs, and not eaten enough. Feel for you x

I can't say I've overdone it today ;-) I've literally done a wash, put the rest of baby's stuff away and sat on the settee! I have been on the laptop most of the day so it could be that. It's horrible, isn't it!x

It could be to do with the pressure on blood vessels, that can make you dizzy :) I googled it haha x

Haha I've banned myself from Dr Google with only being 6-7 weeks from d day!!
I knew it could do that lying down, obviously my chunky little bubs is squishing me nearly all the time ;-)
How are you? How's everything going?xx

Sarah I get lots of dizzy spells, just look out for visual disturbances and swelling with it as can be a sign of high blood pressure and pre-eclampsia.

Frances the swelling is very normal, just all the pressure. make sure and wear some loose clothing. I tend to put my nightie on at the earliest opportunity lol. Hope you both feel better.

Pressure is getting to me too, come the evening I am finding the pains under my bump are very hard to ignore and I'm finding it hard to get up and down from the sofa. 4weeks 4 days to go....lol

I've had a dizzy thing again today, mine is usually not eating right. I've had it all the way through to some degree but only if I either get too hot (not a problem now in winter) or don't eat enough or right. There was the time yesterday sat on the sofa too, that could have been the pressure thing though as I was really slouched down? So I can usually avoid feeling rubbish. Only had a couple of times where it really happened for no reason so I'm lucky! xxx

I know that feeling - the pressure is horrendous, coupled with PGP/SPD and I'm really struggling :/ Less than 4 weeks for me now - thank goodness!

How were you sitting? If you're slouched and leaning back - the comfiest way I admit - baby can squash the big blood vessels near your back and make you feel dizzy. Best to sit upright, preferably with your hips above your legs. I found sitting on a cushion on the floor, cross legged but with my back against the sofa the comfiest position. Same to be said for being in bed, careful how you lie or you might get dizzy!

Hey girls, just a quick one. Did any of u get any mild cramping around 8 weeks? I have read it could be the uterus stretching xx

I've had mild cramping pretty much since the beginning until 18 weeks, I was told to rest and as long as they weren't knocking me off my feet or there was blood it was just uterus stretching xx
