Pregnancy and Baby Advice Thread: From Conception to Birth, and Beyond!

I take it, that googling mucus plug is a bad idea? Just the thought of cottage cheese discharge and pink snot is making me heave lol

Googling placentas had the same effect on me lol x I'd never seen one before x

Haha can tell you lot aren't nurses! :p
Yes mucus plug looks like pink/brown snot. Sometimes like egg white also, a little yellowy.
Re white discharge all your hormones etc are changing again now so blood flow is increasing in that direction! As long as it doesn't smell and isn't itchy I wouldn't worry. If it changes colour let me know...xx

Yeah you'll definately know when you have a bloody show. Mind you not everyone gets one till a little further into labour and even then you might not notice. I didn't notice one with my daughter but definately knew it had happened with my son.

Definitely not the plug then lol ;) There is itching but have been a bit itchy all the way through! Have been tested a couple of times for thrush etc and apparently all is fine? Will report back! xxx

Don't google it! I was told not to and did it anyway - bad idea! xxx

Susie...if you don't mind me asking...what's the favourite part of your job? :) must be amazing to be involved in a woman's pregnancy and birth in the way that you are :) xx

I'd love to know more about it all...stories etc x I bet you are a fab midwife x

That's a difficult one! There are good points and bad points as with all jobs though.
My fav part is probably developing a good relationship with the women I look after at my gp surgeries, so I see them all the way thru and then go afterwards as well which is always lovely! It's so nice seeing a couple go from a 2-some to a little family and see them become confident in looking after their babies. I love teaching parent ed/antenatal classes as well.
I go into hosp as well and I love the drama of labour ward!
I have a lot of stories....what do you want to know?!
Just a thought...and again ladies it may be tmi, but anyone who has told you they didn't poo themselves when their baby was born is a big fat liar! Happens to everyone, it's nature! We are just v good at discreet removal! Xx

Ouch got what feels like a stitch in left hand side of stomach? Hope it's gone by tomorrow morning! X

Oh thank f for that!!!!

Yesterday baby had a real quiet day but overnight I don't think I felt her kick at all, which worried me because that's usually when she's really active!!

Been tossing and turning all night trying to get her to move, prodding my stomach - nothing. Was starting to get really worried so I half rolled on my tummy - usually she moves if I do that because obvs she has less room - nope, nothing.

Was just about to pick up the Doppler to check for a HB before calling MAU and she starts wriggling!!!!!! Thankfully she's still going 5-10 minutes later.

Proper scared me!!!!!!! X

Glad she's ok Hun. My little monkey literally didn't move from 9am to 1pm yesterday and was quiet most of the day. Had a two minute lie down when we got into our room and it had a wriggle then. Our went through a phase of wriggling during the night but it's stopped now. Either that or I've just got used to it and don't feel it when I'm sleeping now. Our lite ones know how to make us worry!!x

They do make us worry! Glad you got a wriggle out of her. I nearly had to go to PAU yesterday but the boy perked up in time so panic averted. I think he was on silent protest because I'd not eaten lunch yet! xxx

It's funny cos mine still wriggles in the night, so Colin tells me anyway, but I rarely feel it. He says he has no idea how I sleep through it sometimes!

I always go to sleep before Tom and he says he gets some massive kicks in the hour after I've gone to sleep but I used to feel it quite a lot at about 4-5am and I don't anymore. Suppose they're all running out of room now though!!

Yeah, not much room left now - plus it looks like we're both growing big babies!

Colin always comes to bed after me (he doesn't need much sleep, lucky thing!) so I'm usually asleep by then and he says he gets all the big kicks when I'm fast asleep at about 2-3 in the morning. Baby's sometimes wriggling when I wake at 5 ish for my loo break but not every day, he likes to keep me on my toes ;)

That's what I was thinking...maybe I've gotten used to feeling her kick during the night? Apparently bump was right up against John the other night and he said that he was just about to wake me up because he was feeling randy lol and then baby booted him twice in his tummy lol put him right off!! She's a good girl ;) :) But I didn't feel that at all?

Had a few more kicks, phew!! She does like to make her mummy worry occasionally!! Think she's gone back to sleep now tho! x
