Pregnancy and Baby Advice Thread: From Conception to Birth, and Beyond!

Oh bless you.. I knew it was "normal" as its been mentioned in app updates a few times.. But no-one here had mentioned so I wasn't thinking it wasn't very common... Its very annoying.. And yes.. Your nose feel disgusting after you've had one... I probably irritate mine as I keep blowing my nose.. It feels like it needs to be blown!!!! lol

Oh yes it really does.....i've never had a nosebleed before so had no idea just how gross is it! I hate the taste of blood and no matter what i did it always seemed to get down my throat and i was left with a vile taste...sorry TMI! bleurgh!

Thanks think il pop and see doctor!

well last time i got kotex maternity pads, i had 4 packs then had hubby get another 2! i think depends how bad your bleeding is and how long, im sure it was just over a week i was able to use always night with wings x

Yeah its the Kotex Pads I used too, the giant ones. I tried the normal sanitary towels but found them very irritating on my bits. Plus I poured some witch hazel on each pad and it really helped. Frances I bleed for at least 6 weeks after each baby so you'll need loads. But I wreckon 5 packs is enough to get you going and then you can go out and get more if you need them.

Need to get witch hazel too.. Is it drops or oil or what way is it bought??? (sorry I know probably a stupid Q but if ya don't ask.............)

Just be careful to not buy too much!! I bought witch hazel (from boots I asked the pharmacy) and because of what happened to me I couldn't use it! Not even now have I been given the ok for it or things like bubble bath!! That's why I wouldn't over buy on the pads - u don't know which will be comfortable for u at the time!!

I bled for between 4 and 5 weeks then had a mega period 6 weeks after which was worse than the bleed after birth (intensity wise) but did only last 4 days - the first 3 days needed maternity pads cos bodyform pads were full/leaking within an hour!!

Girls... How are you all getting on with picking a name for yer little bundles??? Am actually starting to freak out now... Nothing is jumping out at us and there's nothing we both love.. And have thrawled through every website possible!!! At first we were like "ah there's loads of time" but the weeks are just disappearing and we're no closer now than we were when we first found out I was pregnant...
We want something nice, simple, unusual but not unheard of... Not a double barrel and that goes with his stupid surname (Sorry Kim :D)

Hey Frances I know we have more time than you but were having a nightmare picking names we just don't agree on anything at all!
I'm finding girls names slightly easier than boys but we haven't thought of one boy name that we both like!!
X

We agreed on James for a boy (providing it "suits")... But we're apparently having a girl!!!!! lol
Sammie don't fall into the "we've loads of time" trap.. We did... now its only a stones throw away and we're no closer.... Am scared!!

We had loads of ideas for girls and hardly any for boys! It was partially why we found out the sex, wanted to know if more thought was needed and it was as it turned out lol ;) So all the lovely girl names I had picked will have to wait but we have boy names we like now and one in particular we love. We're not using it though or calling him that - not until he's born and we know it's right! I know a lot of people who were dead set on a certain name only to find that baby didn't suit that name at all so we're keeping our options open.

We had similar criteria: nothing double barrelled (we have a double barrelled last name and in any case I really dislike double barrelled first names), short and strong sounding and can't be shortened or messed with. It's tough finding something that fits and that you all agree on!

The girls names we had picked were Lola, Roisin, Amelie and Lisbeth - maybe we'll get to use them one day ;) xxx

Yea I don't do double barrel... Our first crisis was with the surname.. We both wanted it to carry our name.. N neither would give in... I eventually did though.. But everyone was like.. Just use both... No.. I don't like double barrelling...
We're also not having a middle name.. I don't see the point of them and J isn't fussed on it, he doesn't really have an opinion so we've agreed that much... It'll be ? Lee... We want to keep the baptism name a short one for the same reason.. So it can't be shortened.. But you kinda hafta have at least a 2 syllable seen as the surname is so short..

Our baby's surname will be one syllable too so I want a long name if possible or definitely two syllables. I quite like middle names and don't mind a double barrelled first name but I don't like double barrelled last name. We had no problems deciding who's last name baby would take though as I've never been fond of mine x

We had the name dilemma when we got married - in the end it was Colin's idea that we both take each other's names so that's what we did. And I get what you mean - it's hard having a short first name with a short last name!

My last name was the H bit of H-W before marriage so we'd have had the same problem if we'd just kept my name. In the end we have the opposite problem as our last name is so long only a short first name would work, good job that's what we wanted anyway!

We're having a middle name but only if it sounds right - I have one I never use and Colin doesn't have one so we have no strong feelings either way really ;)

Our choices were Rosie, Eva, Evie, Elizabeth and grace...

We eventually settled on Eva and she will have a middle name of Rosanna, in tribute to Pete's mum as it was her middle name too

If she had of been a boy it would have been Ben xx

I prefer mine... And its mine... And its Irish... What's not to like?! LOL
My friend (Montessori school teacher) pointed out the only problem she has with long first names, and its more a professional thing than personal... When they are learning to write.. The first thing they usually teach is their name.. But if a kid has a really long name... It tends to stress them out as most of the other kids in the class know how do to their name, long before the kid with the long name..,. Which made sense to me and I hadn't considered that.. Though we had already decided we wanted a short name... (more than 1 syllable tho)

Yea we both have middle names and neither are ever used.. I'm Frances Teresa and he's Jonathan James.. Then we've confirmation names and the surnames... What a lot of names to never use?! lol
Double barrelling our names would sound stupid too so it'd just give us a new dilemma if we took that route so its a good job neither of us like double barrels.. lol

My sisters kids must have had a nightmare learning to spell their names, Luciana, Elisabetta and Valentina!! Bless them!

I've had my boys name picked out forever but I haven't made a thing of telling loads of people in case it doesn't suit. And with girls I was quite open but none stood out. I've said before but our boys name is Cole William (my granny's maiden name is Cole, both our mums maiden names are Williams and his dad's middle name is William) and our girls name is Eira Rae. I wasn't too sure on putting both girls names together but we won't use the middle name and Tom wanted it because Ray is my dad's name. Eira is just a Welsh name we both like. But once it's born it might not look like an Eira or a Cole so we'll have to decide for definite once it's here.

Oh god, I forgot about my confirmation name! Of course I don't use that... ;) Neither Colin or his brother had middle names, although his brother was bought one as a birthday present by his ex so he now has one (she paid for a stat dec so he could change his name to include a middle name!).

We'd never have done our names like that if it sounded daft, we tried it the other way round and we were both like 'not a chance!'. I was perfectly happy to be Mrs W when we got married, it was Colin who insisted on us keeping both names and him changing his. I know people who wanted to double barrel but the names just sounded wrong together lol ;)

Valentina is a lovely name! A bugger to spell though ;)

Ooh... Love Luciana... I've always said if I ever have a little girl I'd call her Lucy... After my sister Lucia... But then J spent the last 4 years saying we can't call our girl Lucy as Lucy Lee sounds like a porn star... So now he's turned me to thinking of Lucy Lee as a porn star and I can't do it to my little lady... Lucia is looking more likely but I don't love the name Lucia.. I love the name Lucy...
It'd be so much easier to give the baby my surname TBH!!!
