Shazzabir CC Journey to 9st!

Thanks Shazz, starting to feel like maybe I can do it too! That sounds like a good set of rules, should help both of you. I hope that whatever is causing the high blood pressure will be sorted by the new, healthier diet.

Hope they get to the bottom of the high blood pressure soon. I hope it is simply down to poor diet and weight issues, you can change those things. Your rules look hard but reasonable, he will soon get used to them, and like you said, they will help you too. Good luck telling him though, I know how difficult men can be lol :)

Morning Claire! It's my last day off today, back at work 2moro :-(

Last night we went to the chemist to buy a cheap blood pressure monitor. Not sure if it was a good idea or not, as we are both obsessing about the numbers now!
I am trying not to worry about the tests hubbie is having on Friday, but it does keep crossing my mind that they might find something else wrong. Late last year he started C25k, but had to stop as he had chest pains. Stubbornly wouldn't go to the docs, so never knew what had caused it. Now wondering if we are going to find out!

Anyway today is my last day off, so going to be a busy one. Need to squeeze my run in somewhere and do the ironing I have been putting off for the last few days!!

We are going away in the caravan this w/e, so need to pack for that too. We are going to Poolesbrook ( near chesterfield), which is a great place to run, as it has a huge lake to run round.

Probably not a great idea because you don't know if it'll be accurate and it's a bit like weighing yourself every day, numbers change for different reasons. I hope that whatever's causing it is just minor and fixable. I know it's easy for me to say this and harder for you to do it but try not to worry about it. I always try to tell myself that there's no point worrying about something that could be nothing until I know that it's something to worry about but like I said, easier said than done I know. Hope you have a lovely weekend away.

I am trying not to worry, but not doing a great job at the minute. Doesn't help when hubbies friends have told him he could lose his license if he has high blood pressure or find any heart defects. He is a HGV driver. It would be a complete nightmare if he lost his job!! Now I'm starting to panic about finances!!!!
I know I need to clear my head and put things into prospective. At the end of the day he may only have high blood pressure, which can be controlled by drugs. Therefore no huge concern.
I need to stop my thinking at the what ifs until we have more information.

Needless to say I haven't done my run. I did 20 mins walking on the treadmill, but my head was in the wrong place for running, so didn't see the point trying. No doubt I will be annoyed about it later!
Ok think I have got is off my chest now. Sorry.

Carolines right, maybe not such a good idea. I know I would obbsess about the numbers too, just like weighing myself. I really hope the doctors get to the bottom of it on Friday, I'm sure it's simply down to age and weight. The new rules will really kick start things. If you can. try not to worry Shaz, I know thats probably a really stupid thing to say. :hug99:

Poolesbrook eh? Love it there. I go all the time. I walk round the lake rather than run mind, but it's a great place. My brother teaches kayaking there. Can't believe yoo're coming so close to me. Where is your caravan? :)

Okay first of all don't worry about not running when you ran yesterday, it probably did you good not to run two days on the trot after your mileage on Sunday.Second of all, even if they do find that your OH has a heart defect yes he could lose his HGV licence. HOWEVER, normally it is a temporary thing until they've sorted the problem out. For example, if my dad was an HGV driver they would have taken his licence away until he's had the surgery and recovered. He would then have to have the exercise test again to make sure all is okay and then they would return his licence. But as you and others have said, hopefully it isn't that serious and it is just diet, age and weight related. Also it may not be his heart, chest pain can be caused by all manor of things but they always check the heart first because it's one of the main things that keeps us alive. I know you will be worrying anyway, difficult not to. Sending you hugs xx

Do you know when you'll get the test results back?

Squeezy: How strange is that?? I love Poolesbrook!! The caravan site is just at the top of the hill, 2 mins from the lake. If u fancy a stroll round the lake let me know, lol

Claire: thanks for your comments, they make a lot of sense. As for the run your probably right. I am going to get up early and attempt to run before my daughter wakes up. Unfortunately will mean a 4.00 am wake up :-(

Caroline: the results take about a week I think, although the ECG should detect something straight away.

I am feeling a little happier now, so thanks for all your support, it really is appreciated. :)

The blood pressure results tonight did show a big improvement on yesterday's, so hoping that's a good sign, least they are in the right direction. I am back at work 2moro, so sure that will take my mind off things!?

I actually live in Chesterfield Shaz, how funny that you are staying so close! I hope the weather is good for you, they have actually forecast snow!!

Glad you're feeling a little more positive, we are always here if you need to let off steam. :) xx

Snow!!! Must admit I didn't check the forecast. Guess the woollies will be going in the bag, lol x

Glad you're feeling a bit more positive. Anything can bring a higher result than normal so while he might have high blood pressure, he might have had a particularly high day that day so that it's not actually as bad as it may seem at the moment. Hopefully you ECG will be all clear and you'll get the other results through quickly and they'll be ok too.

30 min run done. Did a much slower pace, so calorie burn much less. Feel much better for doing it though.
Hubbie got weighed this morning, he has lost 5lb in 2 days, so he is very pleased with himself :)

I am going to get weighed 2moro, really should get back to weighing every week. I know I have put a couple of lbs on, but know if I focus more then I can easily lose them. You never know I finally might lose those final few lbs to get to goal!!
Especially with our new house rules, no excuse now, lol :)

He's having a great start. Losing those lbs will definitely help lower his blood pressure. Hopefully him trying to lose some weight will make it easier for you too!

Doing it together is always a good thing. A bit of healthy competition!! :)

Yes hopefully!!

Well Docs appointment first thing 2moro, so will be having everything crossed!! So far the new rules are still in place, which I'm quite pleased about. I imagine the w/e will be quite hard though.

Seems strange to think I have one more day at work then it's the w/e!! Could get used to two day weeks, lol
