Shelbell's Baby Diary

Thanks guys x

Bean seems to be getting so big this week, sleeping has been an issue again because he pokes out on either side constantly. It's just about finding new ways to get comfy!

We got our changing bag on Friday. We had ordered it with the pushchair over 3 months ago from a local independent pram shop, and have had no end of problems with them! Got the pram after 2 1/2 months, having been told it would be 10-14 days, and the bag I just gave up on and demanded a refund. Researched lots of them online and ended up getting a skip hop one from happybags, ordered Thursday, came Friday! So I will be using that to take bean's bits to hospital I think.

Glad bump is getting big now shel - i can totally empathise on sticking out limbs! lol my bump likes to drum the bed and punch the other side of me at the same time! lol Even DH felt the bed movement the other morning! :p

Hope your bag is lovely after such hassle! Shame when independent shops can't live up to it. We went to an independent store when we had Erin and had the travel system on 'hold' for collection. I dread to think what would have happened if they hadn't had it when we turned up for it! lol we got the carseat a few weeks before but left the pram there for fear of superstition! lol Not superstitious now though! lol

Well done making it to 30 weeks!! :D Must feel great after so many fears along the way. Fingers x'd the next 10 weeks or so are smooth. x

I know, it seems mad to finally be in the 30's!

Am getting quite anxious about the birth etc, got a list of things to talk to the consultant about when I go in 2 weeks for the next scan.

Got Monday fatigue today following my Sunday stress. I've noticed this pattern over the last few weeks, and basically its just knowing on a Sunday that I have to go back to work the next day is having a huge impact on me physically and emotionally. So come end of Monday I'm exhausted! Hubbys doing dinner so I can just take it easy at least.

When are you finishing work hun? Hope it's soon and you can 'chill' asap.
Try not to stress about the birth, I know it will be hard on you emotionally and nerve wise I'm sure, but really hope that all is ok.

Not finishing till D-Day, as I can only take 10 weeks leave.

Bad news today, after my weight gain of 3lbs over the last 3 weeks, I've managed to lose 5lbs this week :( It must be all the stress as I am eating junk food constantly. I literally cannot eat any more than I am doing.

((hugs)) hope that you are able to get back on track with your eating - try not to stress though.. seems such a shame that the scales are so mean! :(
Hope you are able to slow down a little before baby arrives work wise. I worked right up till I was due with Erin and know it was hard but I had to do it.
((hugs))

Hiya Shel, congratulations for getting into the 30's!! Woohoo:D:D:D
Hoping you'll be ok and don't worry about losing the weight, I'm sure you're healthy enough anyway and as long as you're eating enough, the baby will get all the nutrients it needs. :) xxx

Morning all :)

Tomorrow we start our NCT Antenatal classes  am nervous as not good around groups of new people. Also it's a long day, 10am-4pm, sitting on church hall chairs  so will be taking a cushion!

Beany-boy seems super wriggly at the moment, he's been on a kick fest for the past few days. Also he seems a lot higher, getting that jammed under the ribs feeling and noticed am breathing alot shallower.

Great to hear you are doing well! and bean too! ;) can relate on the higher kicks for sure! lol
Also, good luck wishes for tonight - I'm TERRIBLE in situations like that at first but they're never as bad as we fear eh!? Hope your cushion helps on the chair - goodness it's a long old session!!

Well the first half of the antenatal class was really good. Nice group of people, interesting things talked about, and we had a say in what we wanted to know about etc. Then I started with what I thought was a Braxton Hicks except it stayed across the top of my tummy and got extremely painful and lasted about 20 minutes  it died down to a sharp ache, then came back twice. So we spent the afternoon in the labour ward being monitored. All fine with bean, and by the time we were settled in the ward the pain had all but gone. They couldn't decide what it was, but didn't think it was uterine, so sent me home.

hmm strange one hun. I have had gall bladder pain with my first pregnancy (with Erin) and had no idea, that was the base of my ribs area of tummy - I put it down to pregnancy at the time but it went on afterwards. Might be worth keeping a note of it all if you get them again and speaking to your GP just in case it's something like that.

((hugs)) glad bean is ok and you were in the right place! ;) Glad also your class went well even if you got off the 2nd half. There are no classes in my area - don't run them often - so not likely to have any.

\how strange, mind you some BHs can feel quite strong, where was the pain? Top of the bump or lower down?

Don't panic about the weight loss sweets - I looked after someone who lost over 5 stone while pg (and that was while she was pg so obviously lost more when she delivered!) and she delivered 2 wonderfully healthy twins who were both around the 7lb mark each - babies are wonderfully clever at getting what they need!!

The pain was across the top of my tummy, just under my ribs, and I had the tightening with it. It was like the start of a contraction, but didn't move down across the rest of my tummy like they normally do, and lasted for ages. They said it could be adhesions from my abdominal surgery being seperated by bean moving upwards, or my ribs expanding and causing muscular spasms. Taking it easy now anyway.

Noticed on my notes that I had trace protein in the test they did, so now flapping about that a bit lol, as I am pretty much odds on to develop pre-eclampsia at some point. My BP was fine though so I know all is ok. Am at the midwife on Thursday anyway so she will check things again.

The weight loss is a bit more complicated with me sunflowers because of my bypass surgery, I'm at risk of suffering malnutrition etc very easily. But so long as I atleast stay the stable and don't lose any more it should be ok.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh I understand your concern now.. As you say though, you're doing all you can and if everything you eat counts as much as it can do then all good! Have you thought about grinding up nuts and seeds and adding them to pancake batter to make up seedy pancakes? I always make those up for jocelyn if she's been poorly because they're such a nutrient dense food!

Keep an eye on your pain, you sound like you're being sensible though!

Hopefully it stays away and was one of those things. ((hugs))
Its a right juggle for you hun, but with each week I can't help feeling you are doing really well. ((Hugs))

Things seem to be going downhill. I've had a few niggly symptoms for a while now, like some spontaneous bruising that appeared 3 weeks ago and hasn't faded at all, the trace protein, increased flueyness (but not flu) and redness in the face. It was only when I caught sight of my face in a hotel bathroom (very brightly lit) on monday that I put 2 and 2 together and realised it's not just a red face, it's the lupus butterfly rash. Add that to the other things and it looks like my lupus is starting to flare up :( Saw my GP yesterday morning and he's running all my lupus and kidney bloods now so that when I see my obstetrician next week we should have most of the results and can start making plans. I am seeing a GP on friday for my jab again so I might ask him to sign me off work for a while as the stress is not helping and I'm feeling pretty cruddy.

Midwife tomorrow for 31 week check, will be interesting to see what position he is in as he was breech at the 28 week scan. Got my gym ball ready for some position changing exercises!

Saw the physio yesterday about the pelvic pain, and apparently I am assymetrical which is what's caused it. So I have to do some exercises for that too and hopefully it should ease it.

So basically now I'm just trying to stay calm, and not worry. Sorry if I'm not posting as much but stress tends to make me draw in to myself.

Hi Shell,

will start on a good note, glad things went well at the antenatal classes, i cant wait to start mine, and hypnobirthing to... hopefull the classes will give you something exciting to look forward to on teh stressful days...

REally sorry to hear about the Lupus, but liek Kirst have no idea what it is :( hope it can be controlled or kept at bay...

Best of luck with MW, let us know how you get on...

Best wishes sent your way, everything crossed!! x

It's a disease where the immune system attacks itself/the body. ((Hugs)) Shell So sorry you may be having a flair up. Would / could this hurt the baby or lead to inducing early?
Really hope they are able to help and all is ok ((hugs))
Am glad you are off work though as you say the stress is something you'll need to actively manage and need all your strength now more than ever.

let us know how your tests go and I hope MW appointment goes well tomorrow ((hugs))

Still working at the moment, but hopefully not for much longer. PH is right, it's an autoimmune disease. Flare ups vary in intensity, I've had major renal problems, eye problems and lung problems in the past during a flare so it could be very nasty.

Yes, it can and probably will affect bean. It will stop his growth, so if my bloods come back as I think they will I presume we will booking the induction. Who knows.

On a positive note the last couple of flares I have had have been quite mild, and managable without the heavy meds, so fingers crossed.

Fingers tightly crossed then Shel ((hugs)) There is some comfort at you being 31 wks already though if baby has to be induced at all. ((Hugs)) And I presume they'd give you steroids as soon as it looks possible they'll induce?
What gestation was your son born at? I seem to recall you saying he as prem? And probs with oxygen in birthing? Sorry if I've got that wrong memory isn't my strongest point.
