Good morning and happy Easter peeps!
well done for losing - that half lb must have jumped from you straight onto my hips then, hu?
sooo, what are we buying for those 6p's now?
What about 'creating a new
habit'? We are all trying to change our lifestyle in respect of food and exercise. At the moment it is more for the benefit of slating the weight
D) but truth to be told: we won't be able to maintain in our slimmer self without a change in our behavious - for good! That's where the habits can kick in:
Ppl are talking about challenges, trying to stick to something for a certain period of time - a habit seems to be more subtle and easier to stick to in the long run..
It roughly takes 21 days to create a habit, i.e. if we create a certain routine for 21 consecutive days, our body is so used to it, that it will naturally want to do the same thing on day 22. For example: if I get up at 6:30am every day for 3 weeks in a row (yes, even on weekends
) I will wake up naturally at 6:30am on day 22.. of course our mind can play tricks on us and makes us want to stay in bed
but the initial wake-up habit was there!
So I'd like to change my ways a bit and create certain habits that will help me in the long run.. some of them are in my signature (and most of them still need to be tackled
) but there is so much more that we can do to help ouselves:
- Get up 20min earlier to have enough time for breakfast
- feel like snacking? Have a glass of water/squash first and top that up with some fruit should the drink didn't help
- a piece of fruit should be closer at hand than chocolate
- have a glass of water while you're cooking, you're less likely to snack on the food while preparing it
- concentrate on your food when you're eating, sit down for it and turn off the telly, you will enjoy it more and will know when you're full earlier
- have a hot drink after a meal when you get the gravings for sweets
- take a time-out, just 5-10min all to yourself (for me that's after work) - getting into comfy clothes, a big glas of water/squash and just 10 minutes for myself to reflect on the day; be proud of a good day and knowing what to avoid/do different from a bad day
- and the obvious: walk more! every 20 steps burn 1 calorie!
- ...
It would be nice to share your habits, what little steps are you doing everyday that help you in your weightloss?
AAAND back to the challenge/goal: My
main goal for April (which I HAVE to archieve) is to STS
My
wishing-for goal is 4,5lbs as that will give my another silver 7 at the end of April!
Reason for this 'easy' goal is that I will be seeing my friends/family for 14days in Germany at the end of the month and knowing them (esp my mom) most of the socialising will be around food, meeting for dinner, brunch etc.. And I have to admit: I am missing some of the German food, like white asparagus (usually served with hollandaise
), my mom's cooking (is there anything better??), sweets, proper icecreme from a parlour and certain restaurants/cafes in the area! So I will try and be reasonable, but won't be depriving myself too much
this will be a challenge
