Snow's healthy living ramblings

Yeah I was okay when I got to work. There are some major road works playing havoc with the traffic so I am waiting ages for buses lately and the cold air is killing me as it sets off my asthma anyway and I seem to be particularly susceptible just now due to just getting over that chest infection.

Rest of the day I had an apple then nachos at the cinema with diet pop for tea which was probably all my syns for the day but I had them to use?

I saw the Hobbit - It was better than the second one but I really feel they've spoiled that trilogy by dragging it out into three movies when it should have been two at most.

Today I forgot my breakfast and lunch so I am doing my best with what the canteen has at work as I haven't restocked my drawer with low syn stuff i have had a bacon sandwich from the canteen (wholemeal bread HEB bacon with fat 4 syns and 1 syn ketchup

I had another crab stick and salad sandwich so will do a red day today as i've had two HEBs (I can't do SP because you can't have crabsticks as they don't have enough protein to count as a P) I think I will do steak and carrot chips and baked kale and brocolli cheese with both HEAs

Are crab sticks really fishy? I love fish but im always put off a little by them for some reason...

Hope you're feeling better today Snow.

I haven't watched any of the Hobbit films although h2b has. I read the book when i was in school and i think it put me off (plus i fell asleep during the first lord of the rings film so that may also be a factor!)

Crabsticks taste more like prawns to me than fish - they are definitely more shellfish flavoured than fish flavoured. I love them though.

My chest is driving me nuts I managed to get a telephone appointment with the duty doctor and she has written me a script for more steroids so hopefully that will help.

I love Lord of the Rings the films but frankly I find the books longwinded. The hobbit book is not long winded but is not as good as the Lord of the Rings books The films really suffered from them trying to stretch one book which is by the far the shortest of Tolkien's works into three films. But it was nice to go out with OH as between work (he works shifts), uni (we're both doing OU degrees) sometimes we dont' get much time together.

Thursday I had a massive pizza instead of my planned tea - Friday my meals were on plan including making slow cooker pulled pork but I went mental on low syn snacks to the point I was well over syns. Today I had no breakfast, went out for lunch (off plan) had lamb satay noodles, I actually ordered lamb in soy bean with rice but the noodles looked amazing when they brought them so I didn't point out that wasn't what I ordered. I also had a starbucks skinny latte and a muffin before a on plan tea of pulled pork, syn free coleslaw and my heb of a ww petit pain. Going to do SP Sunday, Monday Tuesday to undo some of the damage hopefully. It will be more pulled pork tomorrow as I used a bigger joint that usual (they were on offer in tesco and the supply of it seems never ending - it's lovely though

I put 5.5lb on which is slightly less than my home scales that said 6. I am really frustrated as even though I know I have eaten a lot on steroids a lot of my meals were on plan and I went over syns a bit those days. There were two days where my meals weren't on plan but I also log using myfitness pal as my food diary just because I find the app handy and there were only two days I was over calories and on neither of those days was i over where I should gain (My fitness pal calculates how many you need per day and how many you need per day to lose and I was over what I need to lose but not what I would be 'allowed' per day if you see what I mean. (I know slimming world is not about calories but still) I did expect a gain but even with my home scales saying 6 (they really vary from SW sometimes) not one that big. I had a whole weekend away around my birthday and drank gallons of pear cider and didn't have a gain as big as last nights. I think I have set myself back to October and I'm really gutted.

Thanks Rosie - it is really frustrating but nothing to be done. i should really be grateful my asthma has calmed down so much and that I've been steroid free for so long I suppose.

Okay now I have got my moan over with I need to get back into planning as I make bad choices when I don't. I have left over pasta with meat free meatballs today so as that is meat free I'm going to do a green day.

L: Tomato & pepper pasta with meat free meatballs and another apple

The good thing is that you know it is unfair and that you have tracked your food, this could easily mean it is you holding more water due to medication and hopefully will come off for you quickly - have a good day :)

Thanks jojojojo - hopefully it will come off quite quickly.

Rosie the asthma is a bit better so the steroids have helped. The cold is so bad for it though as breathing in cold air is a trigger for attacks for a lot of people including me. I have to get two buses for work and obviously snow and ice make them so unreliable so I do loads of standing about in the cold at the moment. I have taken to wrapping two scarfs around my head and face so I am breathing through two layers of clothing in hopes of warming the air up before it hits my lungs - everyone at work laughs at me when i get in or wrap up to leave and call me gypsy rose lee (which probably because I am in a mood don't find funny at all because they all drive so have no idea what it's like to faff about with buses.) I keep toying over the idea of learning to drive (my office used to be really central and then they moved it which is why it is such a pain to get to - I'm still bitter about it) but to be honest i don't want to drive to work or have to be a two car household or have the expense of it. I am also worried that if I coudl drive and had access to a car I'd get hardly any exercise as I'd drive everywhere.

I love the meat free meatballs - my OH can never tell they are meat free either. The quorn mini kievs can be tricky to track down but are worth it!

I live in hope that I'll find them! Good that your OH can't tell either- I think mine has some sort of quorn sensor lol.
That sounds terrible- I could imagine the cold being a trigger as it hurts my chest sometimes breathing in the cold air and I'm not asthmatic!
It must be a pain getting to & from work but it sounds like your doing your best. Could you take a thermos cup with you, would a warm drink help while you wait? They're very cheap in home bargains & my brother swears by them.
I take driving for granted but do share a car with my mum which helps on the expense as its mostly halved (unless I'm skint lol).
There's definitely pros & cons though- re exercise, if you drove maybe you'd swim more? It can be swings and roundabouts :-/ x
