Sona on Dukan Diet- Restart

This "bread" is Dukan bread?

I like soup too but wonder whether it's a good idea in the evening... any ideas re the water retention issue?

the retention was due to exercise i think i avent been able to do any this week.

The bread is dukan bread, soup in the afternoon. my soup is quick thick and fills me up.

Sorry my soup question was for me! I like soup but I wondered if I drank a BIG bowl of soup for my dinner whether I'd gain a TONNE overnight!!

lolz sorry i didnt pick up on that... ur talking to urslef..hmm

i dont seem to gain from soup to be honest i think it washes out quite quickly i either gain from a PV day or stay the same... soup at work is just very easy.. i take it is a small flask and have it at my desk. Buy a throw away cup from canteen for 6p.

I dont think i would have JUST soup for dinner tho... i prefer FOOD FOOD at dinner time.. sometimes have a small soup BEFORE dinner?

fab hon. does soup fill you up? never does me unless i have lashings of bread. remember only small portionof x /l phil but sounds good :D

nah i like my soup at lunch love i have yogart an hour or 2 before and maybe a yogart an hour or 2 after it so it seems to fill a hole. plus will be nicer than cold food in the colder weather! im gona adventue one day and make beef soup aswell... as soon as iv figerd out how i can make my beef tender... hmmmm lolz

Well if i cook with phili i tend to use portion per slice.. so if i put it in my quich it will be spread over 3-6 meals.. this app for philiis great tho u can cho n change things to make them low carb n low fat. there is actually a cook book for low carb n low fat!

i need to find some easy cooks for work lunches n dinner so i can get back in to it!

make my beef tender... hmmmm lolz
slow cooker? if you cook it in water or beef stock (if you can have it) for a good 6 hours + it melts in your mouth hon!
those apps sound great. why dont you get the dukan recipe book?

How much water Vick? What setting? Last time I used mine, I put it on before bed and it was only warm in the morning... pffft!

Otherwise pressure cooking might be a bit violent (and scarey...!) but it makes lovely tender dishes...

I like the idea of these soupy casseroley meaty thingies... lovely comfort food!

I presume you know about Vicky's cheeseburger pie Sona? Lovely! She put a Dukan version on my diary... near the end.

pressure cookers scare me...remember my gran had one in the cupboard next door to the cereal cupboard.... looked like something out of a laboratory :) x

lol. Slow cookers are better. Jo I get up in morning and quickly seal my meat in an oilfree pan (do it night before if you havent got time) cover the joint/beef with water (i but in spices - Berbere is my favourite). put on high for a while until hot, then bang down on low. Go to work, come home - meat smells amazing and just falls apart. (Jo surely your blokie could switch onto high and low for you and fill with water?) Its nice on a weekend too with some veggies.

Both my pressure cooker and slow cooker are in the country, so not an option for city cooking alas.

The pressure cooker is new and not at all scarey - my thoughts also went to my Mum's one, with the weight on, but they're really easy now and only a couple of seconds' "excitement" when you turn the little fizzy knob on the top!

Slow cookers (electric) are fine overnight / when you're not there etc.

OK thanks Vick. I didn't seal the meat, so it looked anaemic... and I didn't put it on high until hot. I'm a novice! I'll try again!

Jo has answered sona :D i got a little one off amazon - its does the job. got 6 chicken thighs in for my paprikash. oh always seal everything before you slow cook it.!!!

does sealing mean cooking it in a pan on both sides before u put it in the sc? ....*sheepish face*

is this so that it is cooked on the outside and cooked on the inside in the SC?

is i learning?

sealing is yes Sona, getting a frying pan out and get it hot and get your meat nice and brown on all sides (inc edges). this seals in the juices. trust me it works. it gets all caramelized and then this goes into the stock/water and tastes lovely.
