Sitting and waiting for the gas man :rolleyes:

Have been to Lidl for water, and to the optician to pick up my new contact lens - dropped one in the bathroom last week, and no way can I find it, grrrr - £142 for one lens, ouch :eek:

Towels are in the washing machine..............so, a thrilling day so far! :)

Hope the gas man comes soon, then I can go out for a walk - mind you, no sun today and it's really cold out!

Then I plan to give my filing cabinet the annual turf-out :D
 
That all sounds terribly exciting Darcy :cool: But wow, £142 for one lens, that's insane! Enjoy your walk, I'm determined to go on one straight after work, as soon as I come home. Put my boots by the door ready for me to step into them. And I found my pedometer so I'll be counting steps.

The lens is a specially made varifocal toric type - hence the crazy price! I'm practically blind without them :eek:

My bathroom is tiny, so the lens is in there somewhere - I heard a 'chink' when I dropped it so it bounced off something. Oh well.....

Still waiting on the gas man too :rolleyes:
 
Did you manage to get out after waiting so long for the gas man to arrive. So frustrating!

I did a 15 minute walk - it was getting dark, and I was freezing!

He did the service - but really recommended a new boiler as the existing one is getting on for 20 years old, and showing its age.

.......there's always something, isn't there? :eek:

More money, more disruption .........


Diet wise, going strong and nothing but Exante packs, water and black coffee has passed my lips :)

Well done, 15 minutes is good. That's the trouble with re-starting the diet in the winter. Feel cold even before stepping outside.

Money-tell me about it, desperately trying not to spend cos I have recently reduced my hours. Just when you think you have budgeted for everything something unexpected pops up. I am enjoying the extra day off though, makes so much difference to my energy levels x

I'm thinking of going part time in the Spring. I enjoy my job, but the travelling is getting a bit onerous. I am single, so any money coming in I have to earn - makes this a big decision :)

Contemplating taking my NHS pension early to top up part time hours. Waiting to hear back from the pension service with some numbers before I decide.

At least I ticked a few things off the list :)

Will think about the new boiler in the Summer - doesn't seem a good time of year to do that kind of thing now!
 
Oh Darcy...it's that time of year when everything seems to go wrong and costs money. You are doing so well on the food bearing in mind your news today about the boiler.

I'm being philosophical - the boiler has done sterling service for many years, this day had to come eventually :rolleyes:

.......I'll get a quote from British Gas later in the year.

Proud of myself that I haven't turned to food - my old response to setbacks :D
