Hiya, I'm borrowing my Mums SW books, will hopefully get them on Weds. I'm trying to do it from memory at the moment, also studying food diaries on here.
Please can someone tell me the syn value of a Colemans packet of savoury sauce?
Also, is all pasta free on green or just wholemeal pasta?
Healthpoint: Choose wholemeal/wholewheat pasta for extra fibre. (pop-up window)
All types of dried pasta, including egg noodles are Free on Green if cooked without fat. For fresh pasta, check the Syns . Although pasta is generally considered Italian, several countries claim the invention of this versatile food, including China and Japan. Available in dozens (possibly hundreds) of different shapes, sizes and flavours pasta is generally made from durum wheat flour (also called semolina – remember those school dinners?) and a liquid. Dried pasta should be kept in an airtight container and has a very long shelf life. It is usually eaten with rich sauces and can be boiled and topped with sauce or cooked in the oven with a sauce “al forno”.
Dried noodles tend to be associated with eastern cuisine and like pasta come in dozens of shapes, sizes and lengths. Unlike pasta, noodles are made with a wide variety of flour – buckwheat flour makes soba noodles, mungbean flour is used for the long, translucent mungbean noodles that are popular in soups and rice noodles are made with rice flour. Noodles are as versatile as pasta and can be enjoyed as a side dish with soy sauce or as an ingredient in salads or stir fries for example.
