The diary of a (not so-Little)Sausage

Supper was lovely! Spinach and salmon cooked with a little cheese sauce (inspired by Pommette, thanks!) served with asparagus and a few boiled new potatoes and a poached egg. The sauce worked out at about 12 syns, but between two of us we only had half, so total syns per person was just 3! Uh-may-zing!

Glad you enjoyed it. I normally syn it at about 3 or 4 depending on how cheesey I've made it - but well worth it!

In fact, I think we may well do this tomorrow night for mum as it's one of the few fish dishes she will eat.

We've had quorn chilli tonight with serious quantities of beans in. So combined with by superspeed veg soup at lunch I think Chelsea's right. Beware the shipping forecast tomorrow! be thankful that you are in London and not in my vicinty!

Have a good night folks and see you tomorrow. Might not be so active as I have my aged parent to keep amused!

That meal looks delish....... x

So pleased to be of service on the chuckle front!

Chelsea - also glad to find someone of the older generation around. I was beginning to feel a bit lonely on here!

today looks as though it's going to get hot (already 23c) it won't be much fun.

There are quite a few of us who are a 'certain age' Pommette!

Thanks for your recipes, they sound great and I shall try them soon, the photos of the ones you've tried LS look very appetising!

Hot.....that sounds sooo good to me, I'm freezing here under dull skies, have you been living in Spain long?

Glad you put the explanations of the acronyms on here LS! I was wondering what a NSV was and quite agree about the yukky D h/d/s thing!

I read all these posts and everyone sounds so young so it's good to know there are a few vintage people around

We've lived here for 5 years in August although owned the house for nearer 10. Having said it was sunny yesterday, Mr Sun took his hat off and went to hide behing a cloud!

I'm with you there Bess - OH I can stomach (easier than typing husband too!) but the rest are a bit too slushy for me! I don't think I've ever called him DARLING in the 38 years I've been stuck with him. There are lots of other things that I have used but they aren't repeatable on a public forum! lol

You really are into the lovely salads eh? I think I need to take a leaf (geddit? Lol) out of your book. Especially now that summer's here!

Fo' sho'! Seriously, I LOVE salads, and have them pretty much half of the year! The moment it warms up a bit, I have salad :)
Trying to think of something quick and easy, SW and big, strong, growing boys friendly for tomorrow night. Am thinking either spaghetti bolognese or a chilli or something that I can put on and forget about. That the kreachers will eat in Sheffvegas. No way am I agreeing to takeaway when I've managed to abstain all this time.

Weather's looking awesome for the next few days, so I hope it plays ball oop Norf. Forgot to print out my route planners today, so will have to write them out by hand in the morning. Really looking forward to the Roche Abbey ruins and Chatsworth house - may even have a wander round Bakewell if the boys can hack it. Yay! Xx

I have never been a big salad fan but I'm actually really enjoying my salads at the moment. However they don't fill me up for that long and I find that if I don't have some carbs with them, I just get really hungry. If I had eaten what you have eaten today, I would be eating the wallpaper !!

Also, when I looked at your food diary for today, it looked like a green day to me ? Which would mean 2 HexB's and 2 HexA's (ie in Gail speak, 2 more Alpen lights or a HiFi bar :))

Have a fantastic time 'up north'. Make sure you pack plenty of jumpers - it's cold up here.....:p

I was thinking that, Gail, as the only meat I had was the tuna. It was a small tin, but i don't know if that is allowed?
As for the salads, I just love them. I like it really light at lunch and then bulked it out at dinner with 2 boiled eggs and the tuna. I like that it's not too filling, but found it plenty!
I've found that, since joining SW I've been far less inclined to snack. I was hungry when I got home so had an Alpen light. And had another after supper although I didn't need it.

Tomorrow morning is going to be a bit busy what with packing the car, writing out my routes and making some couscous to have at the service station. Am really hoping it's not TOO cold up there! Weather down here is forecast to be beautiful so hopefully it'll get up there, too!

Xx

Ooops, didn't notice the tuna !! However it could still be green I think by either making the tuna a HexB (113g) or synning the tuna (28g is 1.5 syns on green).

I am so jealous of you having time off work.......!

OOOOOH Sausage,

how exciting that you are coming to these fair lands. You will not be too cold I don't think. It's a wee bit nippy and windy up here but nothing that a jumper won't fix. You will just LOVE Chatsworth, I really love it there and plenty of Body Magic to be done wandering around the gardens. And Bakewell is great. When I have been there I'm not tempted by Bakewells either as traditional Bakewell pudding is nothing like what you get in the shops (or cherry bakewells......drrooooooool), it's more eggy and actually not very nice at all! Bleurgh! :)

As for your brothers, chilli or spag bol sounds good. My friend did us a SW Mexican meal on Saturday - she did loads of jacket potatoes, some refried beans, some rice with veg, quark dip and then for the boyfriends did some nachos, quesadillas and tortilla wraps. We all loved it, I ate so much I was uncomfortably full for the next hour or so!

Your salad with boiled egg sounds really yummy. Think I'm going to go for one of those for lunch today. Thanks for the inspiration! :)

Well, next time I definitely check the weight of the tuna so that I can use my other HEs!

As fir the time of... Yay! I get 20 days vacation each year and rarely get the chance to take time off. So much so, that I carried over 4 days from last year and the year before carried over 9. This really is a rare treat for me!

Ooh, I could do a huge chilli bowl. Not sure they'd eat refried beans (my fave!) but potatoes are easy enough, and SW dips are an excellent idea.

Can't wait til Sheffield! Haven't seen my wee bro (wee, ha, he's almost a foot taller than me) since he went back after Christmas so will be lovely to spend some time with him. And it'll be ace if the weather behaves!

That looks totally gorgeous. I'll have to try it. I love salmon.

On the subject of noticable weight loss, I haven't had many comments either. I don't think you can really see t that much.

I hope you have a lovely time with your brother. I'd definately go the chilli route - lots of beans and rice and a salad to accompany - I love salads too! :D Maybe a curry as well. I think I'm going to try the butter chicken one from last months SW mag.

LS - Also how about some fahitas? Men can have lots of wraps and you could stick to the chicken and peppers with salad.

On this subject, I've been pondering this for a while and have come up with a long (& probably tedious) rant about it on my diary today.

Have a great time LS in Sheffield - up't north is where my heart lives still, even though I love sunnier climates.

Off to have a look Pommette. Fajitas are a good idea too (you could wrap in lettuce leaves).

Have a wonderful time LS, in God's own country! I was born about 3 miles away from Chatsworth and grew up there. Lucky you! xx

I'm sure it won't be too long until you are getting comments all over the shop Red. It will be a great feeling!!! :)

Hiya LS, hope you are enjoying the fabulous weather today.

I've got a frock on  bare legs and everything!!!!!!! :D I feel a bit naked after all the winter gear xx
