dont fancy swimming in the sound .....tooo cold.
maybe tinside pool ....nah still too cold....swimming pool i think

My brother was in the Navy and lived at plymouth back when I was still at school. One summer holiday, a friend of mine and I went to visit him and we spent quite a bit of time at the outdoor pool there. That summer was a scorcher, I think that was the only time I went to Plymouth and it didn't rain! LOL

Dizzy you must come back it is lovely in the summer.....

A big part of me would love to come back to Devon I grew up in a beautiful little town called Topsham between Exeter and Exmouth. It was an idylic place to grow up. There is also part of me that doesn't want to as well but I would love to spend a whole summer in Devon. A couple of weeks in the summer would probably be all we could manage but would be brill all the same. I haven't been to Cornwall since forever I'd love to go to Cornwall too. I think it was last around 25 years ago or more since I was in Cornwall.

My daughter is at uni in Cornwall and has fallen in love with the place.. I think there is something magical and mystical about it all.. and quintessentially british (know what I mean?) :D Last time I went on holiday down there was on the back of my then boyfriend's (went on to be first hubby) CB650Z motorbike, we spent 2 weeks camping in Marazion.. it was the summer Prince Charles married Diana.. coz we were sunbathing on the day of the wedding.. lol.. ahh.. happy days and fond memories :D :D :D

Thanks Bev.

The gym should also bring more structure to my day which should help. Push me to get my jobs done before I go at one. I have quite a few things on my list so need to get on and off my bum.

What's everyone else up to today. Anything out of the usual routine?

That was 1981 so long ago. It was a lovely summer I remember all the outside celebrations for the wedding and all the houses decorated red, white and blue. Many people even planted rows of red, white and blue flowers in their gardens. It really was a different time then, so much has changed. looking back really makes you realise that you are older than you feel right?

Lovely memories and sunburn was the in thing then. It was thought that you had to get the burn to get that dark brown tan. Remember that song?

I was just entering my teens then and so was taken a keen interest in what ever was in vogue. I think that was the year I made my entrance at Sunday school in my short denim skirt, black legs warmers that had to be constantly pulled up and fingerless mitts.

Soon after that I felt too mature and cool for Sunday school.

we were just too daft to wear sunblock to be honest.. lol... it was hot and we couldn't be bothered to put on our leathers and boots.. I wore flip flops and he wore trainers.. mental when you think about it!! I had a cozzy on and an indian gypsy skirt and flip flops.. and a crash helmet.. and that was it.. my arms and back were scorched.. lol.. but they were halcyon days :D

Health and safety took a real back seat in those days didn't it?

When you look back you realise so much how much things have changed. I tell my kids how we used to sit on the boot of car. Family of five kids so two of us in the boot. There weren't even seat belts in the back seats let alone child seats.

My older sister wore a very long scarf (also the vogue) on the back of her boyfriends motor bike and it got wrapped around the wheel. She was lucky to escape with really bad friction burns. She still has quite severe scarring now.

Got my gym appointment at one better go get ready.

Yeah, I remember the day oh so well.

I scored 61 not out for our local Cricket Team in a Derby Match against the next village who played in a much higher league.

I remember in particular one glorious cover drive that scorched across the turf and .................

Ooops, guess I got carried way there - past sporting glories and all that - street party was nice too when I got back. :D

Boy I think I may have overdone it a bit at the gym. We'll see in the morn.

I loved it though!

Hi Sonkie

I used both the bikes, the rowing machine, the stepper, the treadmill and the machine that does your arms and legs can't remember it's name. I think I did too much as my bum is starting to feel stiff already.

Wow that is fantastic, dh has bought me an elliptical strider, probably the thing you used. We still waiting for it to be delivered. You have found muscles you have not used for a while......

Well done on going, which was your favourite machine ?

That's the one, I think that was my favourite tbh! I was there for 1 1/2 hours so probably had a good 1 hour workout. I was going to take it easy but it seemed to easy so I stepped it up. I thought I was probably overdoing it but felt fine. I hope I don't regret it tomorrow. Going to go to the swimming session tomorrow probably won't do the gym too see how I feel. I fancy taking a class on Thursday.

It been over 10 years since I did the gym. I went to a few aerobics classes when my youngest was a baby over 4 years ago but not much before and not much since.

I was a regular gym user from 17 - 27 but once I got preggers that was the end of that. It was nice to go today and enjoy it. For some reason I thought I may not, maybe I will get back the bug.

I think it will be great to have that machine at home Sonkie, great choice. We do not have the luxury of space unfortunately.

Speak to you later.
