Tipperary wobbles into 2024

Hi Tipperary, whoop, whoop! Congratulations on your weight loss achievement. That’s some going. I truly admire you.

I’ve been suffering from anxiety lately but remained focus on not comfort eating & lost 3lbs last week. I’ve also been to the adult swim night at my local leisure centre & I swam 15 lengths in n 40 mins & it really knackered me. My husband accompanied me & said he was really proud of me. I’m hoping to get a referral from my gp for a discounted leisure membership which means I can use the steam room to prevent aches & pains the next day. My legs feel so heavy & I was staining my back when swimming so I took some paracetamol & ibuprofen when I got home.

Husband is well now we are just awaiting another ct scan appointment to try to get to the bottom of why he had clots in his bladder. Hope to get back on the slimming world plan this Sunday when the food shopping arrives.

Thanks @Ali Kat, great news about your weight loss but sorry to hear about your anxiety, that can be really tough.Great news to hear about your swimming too, I know I'm biased as I have been swimming (on and off) since I was about 5 years old but I really do believe it's the perfect all round exercise. 15 lengths is amazing, my first few weeks back at the pool in August I was doing 12. If the swimming is straining your back then just walk in the pool, at least half of the people at our local pool don't swim at all.
Hair done and nails done and plans slightly changed for tomorrow. I've been keto now for a solid 12 weeks and weight and ketones are the only measurements I have. But I was doing it to prevent type 2 diabetes. The hospital have me on statins which will raise blood sugars and want to give me metaformin to control glucose which I really don't want. So tomorrow morning I'm going to a walk in clinic to get blood tests to measure my Hba1c. Its a 3 month average and I'm 3 months into my diet and know 3 weeks on holiday will affect it so going to get bloods checked tomorrow before I go away. Obviously I'm hoping it shows some improvement but if this isn't working I don't want to be kidding myself either that all is good.
Then last bit of packing to do and ready for our flight.

Wishing you a lovely time at your daughter’s wedding. I’m sure you’ll enjoy every minute.

I tried keto but the 70g fat just ran right through me, but a plus was that it regulated my periods & that has continued for 4 years!

Thanks. Meal wise it's been a funny almost two days. Lunch Friday was fridge leftovers and I was cold. One sausage, a hard boiled egg, slice of cheese, slice of ham and some lettuce and a cup of beef stock cube in water. Followed by a mug of mint tea and a square of dark chocolate. Then at 1am on the first flight I had three glasses white wine with smoked chicken, ham, cheese and olives and a small bread roll.In airport 2 at 5 am I had 2 glasses of prosecco and some nuts. On flight two I had tea. cheese and yogurt. Finally got to our accommodation (it's lovely) at about midday and had another slice of cheese and a slice of ham. More wine, a swim and a nap.
Went out for dinner to a lovely local restaurant. I had courgette fritters and moussaka. The fritters where lovely but very batter heavy, now that I know I won't order them again. And the moussaka was very full of potatoes,I picked a lot out. I had half apiece of bread with olive paste. Then free dessert automatically arrives, I was so good and managed to avoid it.Will go back again but we will order lots of mezze dishes to share I think, veg, salads and grilled meats. And we had some very good wine.
It's 8am now and I'm sitting drinking mint tea and trying to figure out where ican set up a space to do my physio. I need to attach my resistance bands to something to lie on the ground and pull, at home I tie it under the bed but bedroom here doesn't have the space, off to check the garden

Morning all, having a lovely time here. Been very good meal wise, having two or maybe even one meal a day. Ordering meals without chips and bread. But drinking too much wine 🤫, it's lovely wine. Getting most of my physio done and getting arm exercises done in the pool but it's too small to get proper swimming done. Got some done at the beach but I've forgotten my googles so need to get some as the salt stung my eyes.

Morning all. Lying in bed tired and sore. Wedding on Wednesday and the dress fit👋. It actually was perfect on me and I got so many compliments and have been all week. We moved from the house we had rented to the hotel on Tuesday and been having meals with various people each evening. The meal at the wedding was amazing and I did have some carbs at it. Then I danced and danced and danced. Was very tired yesterday and had the first breakfast I've had in a long time. I'm even more sore today though. Nothing planned other than breakfast and a swim. Popped on the scales this morning and 1.8kg up, I'm pretty happy with that.

Morning all, well finally I'm home 😭. The weather was amazing away, well amazing for us, the locals said they desperately need rain, it hasn't rained in 7 months, the rivers are all completely dry. We were supposed to be home last Monday but extended our stay and spent two days in Athens. I walked to the top of the Acropolis and also the Panthentic stadium...not in the same day🤣. And right now I don't think I'm capable of moving for at least a week.
Once the wedding was over I wasn't overly worried about what I was eating, I did have breakfast and one other meal a day. I will reset over this weekend and then throw myself fully back into keto, exercise and monitoring on Monday.
Holiday clothes already all washed and hanging up drying and will be sad to put them away for another year. No idea about what sort of clothes to wear now for winter. I do have a collection of dresses that fit to wear with boots and tights, they are perfect was work or going out. I have one pair of gym leggings and one pair of jeans for everyday use that fit. I'm a bit bigger and a bit bloated after the holiday and giving myself two weeks to get back down to my 70kg and then back on track and then will figure out what I have that fits.
Chat later.

I was talking to someone the other day and she mentioned she had put her Summer clothes away and got her Winter ones out.
I wear the same clothes all year. I just put an extra t-shirt on when the weather starts getting colder.

I was wearing shorts and string tops and backless dresses, an extra t shirt won't do much in the wind and rain here 😂

Morning all, well I've made a plan.
I’ve opened my new food and exercise journal and set myself goals for the next 6 months.
I lost 16kg in 16 weeks and took my BMI from over 37 to tantalisingly just over 30. So through two obese classes and almost into overweight. I know things will slow down but have decided to try to get into the normal weight range for end April, that would be a further 13.5kg loss. And in going to try very hard to do this. I’ve set weekly targets for the next 6 months.
I need to get back to a daily exercise and physio routine, a bit harder here when it’s wet and windy and dark. But I want to have a focussed routine for when I do return to work, it will be so much harder then to fit things in around work and travel.
Food plan is ketogenic diet, 2 meals a day and intermittent fasting. I'd like to get into ketosis by the end of this week.

Goals for week to Saturday 9 Nov
Start weight 70.9kg
Target weight 70kg
Walk 4 times (> 3km)
Swim 4 times (>20 lengths)
Physio 4 times with 3kg dumbbells
2MAD
Fasting 18+
Get back to ketosis

Morning, and I have good news. Went and got my blood test results yesterday. Lots of numbers, some doing good things and some not so good. But the only one I was concerned about was my Hba1c which is an indicator of pre diabetes. When tested in June it was 56, doctor wanted to put me on Metaformin straight away and I refused. A bit of a stand off and we agreed to test it again. It's a three month average indicator and he wanted it below 48. They never gave me those test results so went to a walk in clinic before holidays which was 16 weeks into keto lifestyle so was hoping for some movement even if I didn't reach their magic number of 48. Anything would have been encouragement to Keep going.
Drum roll please, my Hba1c is now 33.
Down from 56 to 33, the doctor giving me the results could not believe this was done without medication.
The power of food😀
