Bless you, ta muchly. My mums fella is a dubliner and when she was alive and lived in Spain he did the most awesome Irish stew that lasted for days as he just added to it. Drive my mum mad as he got it up the walls, the lot. Got it from his famous Daa apparently :)

Aw what a lovely story hun, and as a Dubliner myself I love it even more :)))

Excellent! Way before our time but Michael's father was an actor, Noel Purcel. There was even a postage stamp of him lol

Hey hun how's the challenge coming along so far? It looks like you've got loads of support so good luck! When do you WI? xx

Good Afternoon Everyone!

I hope you all had a lovely weekend. Mine was great but it went by SO fast. I know it always feels like that but this weekend sort of surprised me. I couldn't believe it when I had to get up early this morning. It was not a fun time! Friday night was pretty low key. It's so weird but every Friday night OH and I are just shattered and we are usually in bed by midnight. During the week it wouldn't be strange for OH to stay up till 2am watching t.v. He is currently obsessed with Breaking Bad. I am actually getting in to it a bit myself, it's really good!

Saturday night OH was going out on a guys night out back where he is from. It would be €50 in a taxi from there back to our apartment so he planned to stay at his Mam's. I was totally OK with staying in the apartment alone. I actually feel really safe there! In the end I actually ended up going to a friend's baby shower which turned in to a mad night out. Well, night in. It was great fun but I was way too drunk. We were drinking Vodka and cocktails since about 7pm which is not a normal occurrence for me. There were all sorts of nibbles there - nachos, crisps, nuts, dips, home-made cheese cake, pavlova, cupcakes, brownies, chips, cheese and crackers... EVERYTHING! I can honestly say, hand on heart, I did not have 1 iota of bad food. I didn't touch any of it. I had one cocktail stick which has a cube of cheese and a grape on it and I did that so I would have a cocktail stick to use to eat out of the fruit bowl. I had some strawberries, grapes and melon from that. I am so proud of myself! If I can get through that night I can get through anything. It was so hard to resist the food, particularly after a few drinks. I love salty things with a drink so I would have loved the cheese and the crisps etc, but I resisted. At about 10pm I had a small slice of Lasagne which would have been 8/9 syns and I had 12 left for the day so I was well within my syns even after that. I didn't syn the alcohol, but to be honest I never really do. I go out maybe once a month and I usually drink Vodka and diet mixers so I find they don't really affect me.

So yesterday I was VERY hungover. This was my food for the day. Man I would have loved a dirty burger or something.

Breakfast - Cup of tea with milk (HexA) and 1 slice wholemeal toast with butter (HexB + 2 syns)

Lunch/Dinner - OH made a gorgeous pasta dish with tins of chopped tomatoes, stock, courgette, cherry tomatoes, mushrooms, choritzo (3) and parmesan (HexA). It was SO unbelievably gorgeous and it really hit the spot. Here is a picture!

Later that day I had a packet of low fat crisps from m&s, the count on us ones to sate my cravings for something salty (4.5) a slice of toast from a small 400g loaf (HexB + 2) with philadelphia light garlic and herb (HexA) and a fried egg.

Snack : Muller light greek style (.5), 4 peach halves from a tin (Syrup drained and peaches washed so no syrup remained)

Hex A - bit of milk in 1 tea, sprinkle of parmesan on my pasta dish, tablespoon of philadelphia light garlic and herb
Hex B - 1 slice wholemeal bread from a normal loaf + half slice from a small loaf

Syns - 10

Delighted with how that day went, and it is the first weekend of my challenge and I got through it with great success!

I found out something interesting today, did you know Mars Icecreams are only 7 syns? Considering a curly wurly is 6.5 syns that is great value to me. I will definitely be picking them up in this weeks shop to satisfy the mid-week sweet cravings.

We do out food shop today and I have three recipes I want to try so that is exciting!

I'm going to try - Hunters Chicken, a chicken tikka masala recipe, the mushy pea curry and some form of fish. probably salmon because we both love that. All of the other recipes are from Vintagepockets' blog http://myslimlinerecipebook.blogspot.ie/

Tonight's dinner is going to be Nandos chicken. We have the marinade which is only .5 syn for a tablespoon. It's the hot one so I hope it isn't too spicy! We're having marinated chicken thigh (skin removed) and some sort of fried or spicy rice. I will post my food diary later.

Hey hun how's the challenge coming along so far? It looks like you've got loads of support so good luck! When do you WI? xx

Thanks hun! It's going great, I honestly couldn't be happier. The support has been amazing. 320 people following the Facebook group already which is very exciting :)))

I have also had some great support from the charity themselves who say they will make any t-shirts, buckets, or sponsorship cards etc I might need. I want to plan a few events such as a sponsored walk etc! It is very exciting.

The other great thing that happened was a photography studio have sponsored me a €500 photoshoot which is going to showcase my transformation. I get my 'before' picture taken this week, and then an after picture when I have lost the weight and finished the challenge. It's going to be an amazing way to reveal and show people how far I will have come. I can't wait :))

Every day I am thinking of other ideas. I just want to raise as much money as possible so please God I will!

I am trying to re-create your Indian feast this week. The picture you posted a day or two ago, was that chicken tikka masala with pilau rice? I can't wait to try it. A good excuse to buy some herbs and spices too as we don't have many at the moment.

x

Hope it's all going well! :) xx

Aw thanks hun! It's going great. have you followed the Facebook group? Thanks for the support :))) Hope your weekend was good? Damn you Mondays! xx

The recipe was a minimins one - I posted a link to the recipe on my diary a few posts back.

Wow that's all fantastic well done hun. It's a lot of pressure so I hope all goes well and you aren't putting too much pressure on yourself. Have you set a goal date or are you going to get there when you get there?

Well done on resisting the party food - I'm not sure I could of :)! If you're being really strict you would still syn the peaches as tinned fruit, regardless of if it's in juice/syrup/nothing, technically should be synned or counted as a HEXb. Personally I probably wouldn't if its a one off and it's 10x better than having a dirty burger anyway. I'm not really sure why it's synned - just another one of those SW rules I don't get!

Yeah I figured that, but to be honest it was pure peach halves and nothing else so I am happy for that to be free. It's literally 100% fruit I had. I think the reason it has to be syn'd is that when it's not in it's pure whole form it does not have the same 'filling' power as psychologically you are not eating something that takes a bit of time to enjoy and eat etc. That's what our leader told us. Personally though, if I am eating 4 peach halves with my breakfast instead of grapes and banana then I am very happy for it to be free. It shouldn't make any difference realistically you know?

Thanks for the support. I honestly am not putting too much pressure on myself. I want to be 10 stone and it's always been my goal weight so one way or another I want to get there asap! It feels like 'my' time if that makes sense. I have given myself to the very last day of the year but I hope to do it by early December so I can really enjoy Christmas! That's nearly 9 months to lose 5 stone so that is very doable even considering a few pounds gain after holidays etc. I am so determined :)))

Another well done from me too on resisiting the party food. I doubt I'd be so saintly if I was fuelled by vodka lol.

In bed by midnight on a Friday? 10pm is a late night for me these days! ( I am old 36 this year ;-) )

I will like your page too when I get a mo, face ach is banned at work. wonder why lol.

Sounds like you're really on it now which is fab!

Read the info about Noel Purcell, interesting stuff thank youl. Michael never said an awful lot about him and funnily enough Michael worked the other side of the camera and was a director of various TV things including The Bill for many years. I had no clue, he was just my Mum's mad Irish fella ;-)

Yep I'm following the page! Just a word of warning though, be careful with the links in your sig as it's against the rules, there's a few i know of who got warned / banned / suspended! xx

I thought this too. I remember reading ages ago that minimins doesn't allow the advertising of Facebook pages so be a bit careful x

Oh and randomly I'm having homemade nandos for dinner too and I saw that charleybarley is as well! Great minds! Although I don't have any nandos spice so I'm going to attempt my own version of lemon & herb rub. We do have nandos sauces though. Mmm I can't wait!

Oh I had no idea :O i better take them down so! Well that's a tad annoying.

I can't wait for mine :))) it'll be about 10pm by the time i get to eat it. I hate it eating so late but OH always works late and we have to do the food shop (24 hour tesco) so i've distracted myself with a random concoction of noodles, sweet corn, soy sauce and sweet chilly sauce. So hungry!!

I am a real sleep lover so if I had my way i'd be eating dinner at 7pm and and in bed by 10pm. But OH works late and we always end up eating late so bed time is inevitably late too. Tonight's particularly bad. It's 8.30pm and he's still in work and we still have to do the food shop before me have dinner. Oh well, he can't help it so I try not to nag. I'd eat dinner before but there are things I need to accompany my dinner that we have to buy when we go shopping haha!

That's lovely, us Irish are a bit mad alright :D
