Tracey's healthy yummy lovely journey

Hey lovely, finally got round to sponsoring you today, keep up the good work! x

Was that you? OMG I had absolutely no idea who that was because I didn't recognise the name. It absolutely made my day. Thank you so so so much. Are you on Facebook?

Thanks again, from the bottom of my heart THANK YOU. It means so much!!! xxx

I just did something that I haven't done in about 2 weeks since I started properly sticking to the plan. I... don don don... had something 'unplanned'. I have been planning everything lately and I usually have 10 syns left in the evening to have a treat or something. I'm in the office on my own this afternoon and there is this massive box of Lindt chocolate. Tiny little foiled wrapped chocolate pieces, maybe the size of a square of chocolate if even, because they are really thin. Well I just felt like some bloomin' chocolate so I had some. I decided to have three pieces and I would be quite happy to say they are 1 syn each. What do you think? I may round it up to 5 just incase. But they are puny, incredible thin. I'm glad I had them because it was a genuine urge but I probably would have preffered a little bar of chocolate or something like that for 5 syns. BUT, this is where I have a huge problem normally. I CAN'T STOP. Well, not this time. They will be there every day next week and I won't be touching them. I refuse to submit to that lack of control again. Even now, as I ate them, I genuinely felt afraid. I feared that this meant a negative turning point. But no. It's Friday, I'm in a good mood, and I just fancied a bit of chocolate. It will just be that. Nothing more!

We're going out for dinner tonight which I'm really excited about as we haven't eaten out in about 3 weeks. Usually we eat out at least once a week. We're going to a steakhouse at 9pm and I'm going to probably get steak with some sort of lovely salad and maybe a baked potato or something. Actually that sounds lovely, maybe a steak with baked potato, coleslaw and salad. I might check out the menu now. I don't have many syns left for the evening so I'll be keeping it as clean as possible and I won't be having anything else in the mean time or after that isn't free.

Here is how today looks...

Breakfast - Irish Diet Yoghurt - Mango Flavour and a kiwi

Lunch - 2 WW wholemeal bread toasted with 1/2 HexA reduced fat cheese, honey roast ham, rocket and mixed salad, and tomatoes. I also had carrott sticks and grapes. packet of skips (4.5)

Snack - three tiny lindt chocolates (5)

So it would appear that I have about 5 syns left. That should cover my coleslaw and the bit of oil my steak will be cooked in. If there is a little parmesan on my salad or something my other half of HexA should cover that. If I go over by a few syns I don't mind because I have been under my syns most days.

I'm thinking about making the mushy pea curry tomorrow. We have no chicken fillets till we go shopping but I have a bag of frozen quron pieces so I might make it using that and some peppers and mushrooms etc as a trial-run. I have a busy evening helping out in my auntie's house before the christening on Sunday so it will be nice to fill up on a good dinner before I go about 5pm.

Sunday will be tough as there will be SO much bad food on offer. All fried food, a creamy curry (my mam makes an amazing curry and it's all creamy and coconut-milky) sweets, peanuts, crisps, the works. I have totally made up my mind that I'm not touching it though. My nanny is making a turkey so I'll have that and I might bring a savoury rice to have with it, or there will be normal rice for the curry I am sure. I'll also bring one or two mug shots and maybe some sort of fruit so I can make sure to have superfree throughout the day. I know I'll be OK and I will feel SO good after it. As for alcohol, I'll have a couple of glasses of wine and possibly some vodka but I plan to take it very easy as I got so drunk last weekend and it really affected me. I feel I've just grown out of that to be honest. A lot of my friends and family haven't though, so I don't want to seem high and mighty either. I'll take it as it comes!

Going shopping after work to get a few foody bits for the weekend as well as something to wear to the christening and a present for the beautiful baby!

Have a great weekend everyone xxx

No worries lovely, you are more than welcome; worth every penny! Your story really touched me, my elder brother passed away due to cancer, and a huge percentage of my family have been affected by the disease; its one of the causes I always make sure to donate to!

I really hope you complete your challenge, I'm rooting for you all the way! Xxx

Not that it makes things easier for you, but I read your comment and burst in to tears. I am exactly the same as you. It is something so close to my heart and when I look at Jordan I just can't believe how lucky we are. He was only 2 when he was diagnosed with the cancer and he was just so so sick and he was so sad because he didn't know why he had to stay in hospital and the other four siblings were all at home together. It was heart-breaking. I can't even put it in to words. But when I look at him now, 14 years of age, full of life and a little teenager with dreams and ambitions, I just feel so blessed. I sometimes remember and think 'omg he had cancer'. It is a life changing experience. My mam's very close friend died of cancer only 5 months ago too and many people I know have been affected by it. She was diagnosed literally a month after Jordan.

Seriously, thank you so much, it means so much to me. I literally know I am going to do it because it's for something way bigger than vanity.

I made the mushy pea curry. It was actually lovely :) totally free and lots of superspeed and superfree. I would definitely make it again.

Recipe :
1 can of mushy peas
1 can of baked beans
1 can of chopped tomatoes
2 tablespoons of curry powder
Half teaspoon of turmeric
Half teaspoon of cumin
1 onion diced
3 cloves of garlic diced
1 pepper
Punnet of mushrooms
Quorn or chicken.

Basically blend the three tins together with the curry powder in a dood processor and season. This is the sauce.
In a saucepan saute the onion, garlic, peppers, mushroom and chicken until everything is soft and the chicken is cooked.
Add the sauce from the blender to a large pot and add the cooked vegetables and chicken to it.

Bring pot to the boil and simmer for 20
minutes and serve with rice.

I added a little sweetner too so taste it and you may decide to do this too.

I'm considering trying some red days but I don't really understand how it works yet. It might help me control my portion sizes when it comes to pasta and rice. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to where I can read up about it?

I like the idea of the two healthy a and b but then i feel like i would feel guilty having bread and porridge.

Are things like mugshots, baked beans, and muller lights still free? Are syn values different? I'd be grateful for any info. Thanks in advance :) i'll stick with EE until I fully understand how red days work. I wouldn't mind trying green days too as I love quorn!

Last night we went for meal and i definitely went over my syns by quite a few but overall I was good and i think the syns I saved over the week would have made up for it. Here is my dinner. It's an italian themed rib eye steak meal. So good!

image-1509926083.jpg

Today I decided to just have a normal day day as I didn't feel guilty after last night. I was still very much in control.

Today's food..

Breakfast - magic porridge with a banana. It FINALLY worked for me. Muller lights work best, i'm delighted I know that now. Experimenting with the toffee muller light for tomorrow as the idea of toffee porridge with banana sounds yummy.
I also had a kiwi.

Lunch - greek style muller light x 2 (1) 1 slice bloomer wholemeal bread (5) and a spoonful
of stuffing (1) random i know but my nanny
Made it and it looked and smelled amazing so i had to try. Tiny spoonful of curry (1) i made this for like 50 people for a christening tomorrow so I had to taste it. HexA cheese, ham, 1 tablespoon mayo (1.5) and bbq sauce (1)

Dinner - mushy pea curry with beans, mushy peas, chopped tomatoes, mushrooms, peppers, onion, garlic, and quorn. Served with basmati rice and soy sauce.

Snacks - packet of skips (4.5) and a mini choc-ice from Tesco (4.5)

HexA - 30g of low fat cheese and 1 tea with skimmed milk
HexB - 35g porridge oats

Syns - 20.5

Disappointed I went over by 5 syns but all in all not too bad for a very picky day.

Tomorrow is the christening and I won't be going over my syns with food. I'll have what I can in terms of free food and healthy extras etc and I'll enjoy a few glasses of wine. I'll pack a mugshot in my bag just in case too ;) oh and some carrot stick, cherry tomatoes, and grapes will be had before I leave.

X

Hope you have a lovely day at the christening.

Glad the magic porridge worked for you. It must of just been that you weren't using enough yoghurt as most yoghurt pots are a lot smaller than mullerlights.

Sorry if I freaked you out about pasta/rice portion sizes. If you fancy doing red days then you should go for it, but if you're sticking with EE and worried about that kind of thing then just measure it and have a portion size recommended on the packaging. I've always over ate on pasta/rice so I've always measured it. Good luck if you do red days - I've never done them so like you I have no idea how they work.

Have a good day! x

What was it you needed to know about red days? If you have any of the books it's all in there but basically your carbs are restricted. Superfree is the same but not free. You're quite right about having extra as and bs :)

Above are pictures of some eatables of late! Have any of you tried Rancheros before? Theyre baked crisps and normally a packet is 4.5 syns which is really good anyway. I found these little miniature packets that are only 2.5 syns and I was delighted :)

The other photo is yesterdays lunch. I was hungover from Sunday's massive family affair and I popped in to m&s for some lunch. I spent EUR12 in about 30 seconds but it was so good. The fruit salad (left) was amazing and was just what I needed and then I had the pasta salad for my lunch. It's the count on us basil chicken and tomato pasta salad which I believe is 5.5 syns. Can someone check that for me actually? I've been stopped from using the SW app since I haven't been in 3/4 weeks so I would normally check that way. A bit of Googling told me 5.5 though which sounds about right. Its just the mayo dressing really that would have syns.

Last picture is the amazing dessert i made last night for 2.5 syns. It's a meringue nest covered in fromage frais thats been mixed with sweetner (tastes like cream) and a fresh passionfruit poured on top! Omg it was ao gorgeous. I LOVE passionfruit.

Sunday was a brilliant day. It was my cousin's Christening and a huge family get together. I avoided all fatty food but the booze made up for it. A LOT of wine was consumed, it was great fun! In terms of food I had a sandwhich of wholemeal bread, ham and cheese, a bowl of vegetable soup, 3 chicken goujons, mini packet of rancheros (2.5) a cube of cake (1) a spoonful of curry (2) and lots of carrot sticks and celery dipped in to a homemade ranch dressing that my auntie makes with fat free fromage frais, miracle whip (whatever that is) and a sachet of 'hidden value ranch powder' or something or other that she gets in America. All in all I definitely went over my syns but not by a crazy amount. I avoided the chocolate biscuit cake, mountains of doritos, creamy coconuty curry, chicken wings/springrolls etc among many other things such as white bread and crisps! I felt a little rough yesterday but nothing major as we actually got 6 hours sleep before work. My fruit salad deinitely helped too!

So yesterdays food was...

Breakfast - yoghurt, huge fruit salad, orange juice (2)
Lunch- m&s count on us salad with pasta, basil chicken and tomatoes (5.5 i think, and hope) with carrot sticks and a kiwi.

Snack - grapes

Dinner -( eaten out) 2 slices wholemeal bread (hexb + 2) with cheese (hexa), ham, tomato and onion all toasted. A huge bowl of homemade vegetable soup and a side of coleslaw, about a tablespoon (3)

Snack - tastes of OH's amazing terryake Wagamama stirfry that he made (1) that sauce is like 50% sugar but is sooo good. My meringue dessert (2.5) and camomile tea.

Hex A - 2 slices of cheese in toasted sandwhich (guess, but there really was not much cheese on the sandwhich)
HexB - 2 slices wholemeal bread

Syns - 14

I'm actually really happy with that day . Eating out can be tricky but I feel I made good choices and I'm not deceiving myself. I'm giving syns where they are due and I feel I got everything right? There really was not a whole lot of cheese on my toasty and i did only have 1 tablespoon of coleslaw. The soup is definitely homemade, full of veggies and isn't remotely creamy.

Oh, and I weighed in this morning and I was 1 pound down. I was actually very happy with this as we ate out Friday ( i had steak but nibbled on things that would have brought me over my syns) and I had a glass of wine. And then Sundayms fiasco. I was delighted with a 1 pound loss.

This week I hope to lose 2/3 pounds as I am going back to SW on monday and i would love to he less than what I was the last time I weighed in there and before i put on half a stone (14 stone 9 i think).

Zumba tomorrow night :D and Carbonara for dinner tonight, caaaan't wait!!

Well done for the loss, that's brill considering the naughties :) here's to another good week! Xx

Dinner - Carbonara made with pasta water, egg, 1 tablespoon of parmesan (1.5) fat free fromage frais, garlic, mushrooms and peppers. I had quite a small portion because I felt guilty about all the snacking today. It was just one of those days. A very hungry day!

HexA - 30g Reduced Fat Cheddar and 1 tea with skimmed milk
HexB - 35g Porridge Oats

Syns - 11.5

I'm happy with that day but I feel like I ate a lot.

Some people have commented on some of the pictures I have put up on Facebook regarding the level of carbs. It makes me feel a bit self conscious because they might not understand slimming world. I always make sure I have 1/3 superfree in the meal. Well, I really try anyway. It just has me feeling a bit iffy about carbs now and maybe I am kidding myself by having pasta, rice, noodles etc every day for lunch and dinner as well as either porridge or bread. Anyone have any thoughts about this? That's the thing I love about Slimming World, but at the same time I don't want to hinder my weightloss. I'm a bit confused!!

Home-made Slimming World Springrolls. They are completely free :) Though I put a bit of honey in mine because I like a bit of sweetness in my sauce.

BABY Bananas!!! M&S will be the death of me. Seriously though, HOW cute are they???

My Carbonara tonight :) Well actually this was OH's. Mine was a lot smaller!

Thank you hunny :) No to be honest your talk about carbs actually put it in to my head in a good way. Portion sizes are something I really want to look at and I am trying to decide if having carbs with every meal is too much. What do you think? It's very hard to think of inspiring ideas that don't involve carbs.

Christening was great by the way, thanks so much for your lovely words!

I normally have carbs with every meal and managed to get to target so it's whatever works for you hun. If you're sticking to the plan 100% and losing weight then there's no reason to get worried about this. The amount of times I had to explain SW to people when the looked at my bowl of pasta in horror was annoying but I've proved to them now that it does work. If your concerned maybe switch to brown rice/pasta?

Carbs suit some and not others. Do what works for you.

How are the spring rolls done please?

True. I think i'll just have less carbs wherever I can. I'm only two weeks in to my challenge but I'm struggling it's something I will look at definitely. Thanks hun :))
