Tanya, I'd go to the doctor. If you don't look after this now you will develop a serious problem with your knee. This happened a friend if mine who did a lot of road running in his twenties. Kept at it despite periodic knee pain. In his forties now and plagued with knee problem which the orthopaedic docs tell him is direct result of non intervention years earlier. The sad thing is, it was easily sorted at the time if he had looked after it.
I'm not trying to scare you but it is why I have kept on at you about proper support for it.
At the least go to GP and get a referral for Physio. Please look after yourself, you have done so well up to now.

I do think you should say something about the specials especially if it is happening more often. You do have a life outside of that and it would be nice if you were informed either way.
As for the knee I totally agree with the advice given. You definitely need to get the correct shoes for your gait as Jan said. I walk inwards (can't remember the technical term!) but that has what caused the problems in my ligament.
And yes you do need to go and see the soc (hehehe). It might take a while to get a physio referral but they are great and will be able to give your exercises to build up the weak areas.

Boots do a good knee support for about £7 but I find it tends to rub the crease of your knee a bit if you wear it for a long time.
I bought a elastiplast one which was a bit more expensive but has straps so misses out the crease bit iykwim!!!

Yup I was supposed to have a shift tonight but again i've heard nothing. I even cancelled my overtime this sunday at my actual job (as we have to give atleast 48hours notice) as last time I spoke to the guy about doing a shift tonight he made it sound like we were doing it but I texted him tuesday and I have heard nothing.

I'm in two minds to email him and ask him why I got no reply.

Will defo go to the doc guys - i'll ring monday morning for an app :)

Off for a boozy lunch today with my friend. Then back home for more booze (aka wine!) with Stevie tonight.

B- none as straight off to lunch sooo...

L- butterfly chicken breast burger with chips (893cals) best option on the menu as it comes with a free alcoholic drink ;) (left 1/4 of the bun)

D- doritos & lf red pepper hummous

I think you should deffo email them and see what's what - this just isn't on! You can't let them treat you like this - you've lost good money because of them ..... Phhuhhh!!!! Annoyed for you hon! xx

Have had a brilliant day. We've not stopped laughing!!! :giggle: Was a totally unplanned day but it's turnt out to be the best - even grandma and grandad came along :)

Sunday 19th June

7 sleeps till holiday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :party0049:

*harvester mix grill (sausage, chicken, steak, bacon steak, fried egg, onion rings) with peppercorn sauce & baby pots (of which I only ate two) ... 1,100 calories

*cadbury sundae; vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, wispa pieces, mini caramel cups, chocolate sauce, flake ... 371 as shared with mum

*1/2 flake bar
*jam donut

and i'm about to indulge in a pear cider :)

Grandma has bought me down some scones so will probably have one of them if i get hungry later.

Shoot me please if I moan that im fat before I go on holiday, only myself to blame after todays grub!!! ;)

Sounds like you've had a great weekend! I can't believe Stevie's leaving his buying til the day before hols! Is he mad?

Not long to go for you now, 6 sleeps I believe! Only 9 for us!!
 
He's got the majority he just wants a few new tshirts. I will laugh if he can't find any as I told him weeks ago to go in & get them but he swore to me going in the day before will be fine!! Lol

Had my front desk duty this morning at 8am. That was a killer to get up for but did get another 9points signed off.

Got the Docs at 15:40. Think he'll probably just tell me the same as you lot, ice, strap it, rest but can't do any harm to see him/her can it. I always feel like i've wasted their time tho!!

Last night was rounded off with a pear cider, 1/2bottle wine & 1/2scone with jam, 1/2packet of lf crisps & Jacobs cracker with pickle & slice mature cheddar.

Monday 20th June

B- 2slices toasted fruit loaf with butter

L- bowl of cheerios, 1/2scone with butter, packet walkers dipped in garlic dip.

*10bassets all sorts

Naptime :)

D- baked chicken breast stuffed with goats cheese, wrapped in smoked bacon & honey bbq sauce, broccoli & broad beans.6 of stevies chips & 2pickled onions.

*apple for work

Glad you have got docs. When it comes to things like that you are definitely not wasting their time!
How was your shift? Did you say anything about the problems?
 
No, my shift today wasnt with the specials it was with the Front Desk.

As it happens I now have 2 shifts this week, typical isnt it. I'm not sure who I want to say anything too.

The bloke that was supposed to work with me on saturday has been on facebook again sending all of us a generic message about upcoming stuff but yet still hasnt even got into contact with me apologising or anything. I'm more annoyed at that than anything really as its just plain rude.
 
So went to the doc (aka soc!) and he was lovely and I actually don't feel like i've wasted his time! :p

Explained everything to him, he had a good ol' examine of my knee, pulling and pushing etc and said I havnt caused any damage to my ligaments or any actual damage and all it is is the cartlidge in behind my knee cap is inflamed. He said when I told him about walking down the stairs in work (cuz I have to turn 180 to get to the next flight) that I find it difficult to turn on my knee he knew that the problem was the cartlidge.

He told me to rest :)( I knew he'd say that) but I told him I cant lol We had a good ol chat about exercise etc and said I might have to find a differnt, less impact exercise to try and take some of the pressure off the knee or to find grass and run on grass instead of pavement. Also told me if I cant rest this week then to do a less impact sport for the time being and take 400mg ibuprofen ... which is handy as dad gets prescribed them!

I feel better knowing i've not caused any damage though and it is just an inflamation.

So think I will do just two short runs this week, have the 2weeks off for my hols then reassess.
