2015 and It's Now or Never!

Morning! You do sound cheery! Makes me smile. Edinburgh is a tough place to walk around -- very hilly. Good idea to use a chair.

Evening Mel, I won't be doing any type of sight seeing in Edinburgh I'm just there for the Tattoo... Hope I get someone to help.. I've posted a thread on a Scotland forum with promise of a good remuneration... they've been really helpful in the past.

This really is nonsense about the pacemaker - surely they know what they are doing though it doesn't sound like it at all.

Incidentally, I was in a hospital waiting room yesterday (not as a patient but waiting to see someone about some work we are doing) - there was one of these moving signs that announced that one doctor had a waiting time of 60 minutes and a second between 60 and 120. Now you can understand them running behind, BUT - there were about 6 people waiting and it was a quarter to nine in the morning  What the heck was that all about ????

Evening Carol, Really strange that one..
One does wonder sometimes... Ours not to reason why... ?!

Glad you sound so cheerful and full of plans. :)

Evening Mo, Hope your plans are going well too.

Went to Morrisons for lunch and took a container with me..just in case.. and was pleased that I did as I only ate about half of the meal and felt really full up.. so chicken stew on the menu for tomorrow!
Then went to Argos and bought a present for one of my grtgrandchildren. Already have something for her brother which I have had for a couple of years now so hopefully when I go over in May :)fingerscrossed:) I will take them with me.

Quite chuffed as I had a £10 voucher from an opinion site reward plus Nectar points which then meant I only had to pay £5.

Then called in to have my car valeted so it's all nice and gleaming clean. Heard on the weather forecast that we have had pollution from the Sahara dust storm.. no wonder my car was inches thick in dust today.
Tesco was next and was aiming to use all the rest of my coupons but surprised when the cashier said that three of them had already been used in store.. very strange that ., after all the cashier would have kept them if that was so...= e-mail to Tesco forthwith.

Just got home in time to answer the phone and I have to go in for the second part of this scan on Thursday. Similar routine except the first part will be an injection of a tiny amount radioactive material then wait an hour when I can then have something to eat and then the scan which should take about 45mins. Yikes!!
I shall have to practice putting my arms above my head when I am laying down to see if it will get a bit less painful. I shall ring them tomorrow and ask if I can have an injection in my shoulder to help me with the pain... can but try.

Still not hungry so have only posted banana and custard for supper which makes my totals for today: Cals 1172 Carbs 133

Morning Em,

I hope you take it easy and stay inside until the pollution has eased. I'm feeling its ill effects. I told the twins to not do practice after school today. At least not outside.

Lots of news about this pollution today isn't there? Think it was a bit of a waste of time and money having my car valeted yesterday!

Wednesday 2nd April 2014

Had a go at putting my arm over my head when I was laying in bed last night and came to the conclusion it's far too painful so phoned hospital and cancelled the appointment. As you can imagine they were very concerned more for the fact that the first part becomes void ... apparently... funny that seeing as how they only mentioned the second part as I was about to leave almost as an after thought!
I did ask if they could give me an injection in my shoulder before the scan to help lessen the pain but of course they are "not allowed"! Will contact my doctor to see if I can get an injection at the surgery within the next 2 weeks or so as that is the cut off time.

I think I shall take back the doggie present and exchange it for something else as it is rather heavy with all the books in it and taking it on a flight will be rather cumbersome.

I find it quite funny that after searching for something online everything afterwards has continual adverts for that same thing..I'm sure there must be some way of stopping that but me don't know!! :D

Talked with my doctor about having an injection for the pain in my arm so I can have the second part of the heart scan and his initial comment was asking me had I mentioned the trouble with my arm before?!!! Well.. considering he sent me for physio treatment not long back... then after a brief pause he said he will se me next Wednesday but finished off almost scoffing at the thought that an injection would be any good or whether he would do it anyway! Tomorrow I will contact the hospital again and see what they have to say about the situation and whether Wednesday will be too late for getting an appointment for the rest of the scan to be done.
All very frustrating and annoying tbh!

Thursday 3rd April 2014

Contacted the hospital this morning and told them I had asked the doc for an injection in my shoulder to help with the pain and she booked me in for the next day (Thursday 11th) for the scan. Then sent an email to my doctor explaining in much more detail what the situation is regarding my shoulder now and telling him that I'm booked for the next day so just hope he's in a more responsive mood when I go to see him.
I shall be so glad when next week is over and I don't have anymore hospital visits for a while...(she says hopefully!)

Made my chicken stew from the remains of the Morrison's roast chicken lunch I had and it turned out very delish indeed. Added a couple of suet dumplings which didn't bake up to be nice and crisp but I don't mind stodgy sometimes.
Did consider taking a photo of it but look was not very appealing .. in fact rather like a stew mush! :D .. as long as it tasted good I don't care.

Can't believe it's Friday again tomorrow! .. .. where does the time go?!

Carbs a bit high again today: - Cals 1389 and Carbs 148.. should've gone without them dumplings!
Also have added an Alpro Soya Dessert fro supper.

Very pleased you are being proactive and that it looks like you'll have some pain relief this time.

Oh no.Dumplings again.

Lets hope next week is the last hospital visit for a while.:)

Yep! Dumplings again.. altho' today I am using the Tesco dumpling mix instead.

I cannot believe it's Friday either - in fact I cannot believe it is April.

Hope the doctor is helpful

April?!! Me too..
I'll have to try my temper tantrums again if he doesn't respond well.. that does the trick (most times!) :giggle: ..

One can but hope Mel..(that's me being sort of posh) .. :D

Hello Em. You sound as though you have this appointment well organised. welldone. Hope you have had a good day. Mo :)

Friday 4th April 2014

Not exactly a busy day altho' I did seem to be doing something or other all the time.
May seem like a strange thing to say but used to always have my shower before going to bed but these days I get soo tired and I'm just not able for it. On the other hand having a shower first thing in the morning is not good either as I am so stiff and in pain.. so I've been having my shower about midday which is very much better... amazing what things become important when you get to be an oldie! .. :D

Had my stew and dumplings this evening and it was simply delicious. Also finally got round to making some custard with soya milk which is really tasty. Never thought I would ever take to using anything like soya but it is very good.

Menus today were good but still haven't trimmed the carbs down somewhat.

Breakfast - Oats 30g + Honey 1/4 Tablspn
Lunch - Ham 55g + Egg hard boiled 1
Snack - Cadbury's milk choc 1/4 bar
Dinner - Chicken Stew home made + Dumplings 2
Supper - Banana small 1 + Custard 1/4pt
Extra - Milk Semi-skimmed 240ml

Cals 1234 Carbs 161 Fat 36 Protein 61 Sugars 62 Fibre 16

Sorry Mary... (not really!.. :giggle:.. ) Hope your dumplings go well today.

Forgot about Andy's match this morning.. wanted to watch that! Glad he won anyway.

Such a lovely sunny day and my primroses in the garden out front look beautiful plus the trees that are now flowering with the added daisies in the grass make such a lovely view.

Call from the hospital this morning and my gastro whatever .. is on May 1st at 1pm. She did ask if I wanted an early app being as I am diabetic but state of my back will be much more important to me... Oh the joys!

Planned all my menus for today to try and get my carbs a bit lower as they are the culprits in my not losing any more weight. In doing so I found that my digestive biscuit treat in the afternoons have many more carbs than those logged... all due to someone's faulty entry. Seems that it is best to check all these things out as there are so many incorrect items on MFP altho' it is a very handy.

Keep putting off the dress alterations ... think it may well be that I don't have confidence in myself for doing it. I've done a lot of dressmaking in the past, in fact when I went line dancing being a larger person it was difficult to get any C&W gear so I made my own... Lots of frilly blouses and skirts which I only recently gave to a charity shop... real heart wrenching that was.

Now going to watch the rest of the doubles tennis match.

Evening Em,

I'm sure someone appreciated your generous donations.

I was pleased Andy won. I was worried his back op might have done him in.

I hope you had a lovely day.

I'm sure there were some grateful C&W fans Mel... those types of clothing are hard to get over here.

All things going well today.. thanks.

Have a nice holiday.

I have found a Paleo chicken and dumpling recipe so can't wait to try it.Thinking Tuesday I will do it.More time in the afternoon as no work.:)

Evening Emm,
I also forgot tennis was on this morning. Not that I could of watched it as we were busy sanding but I could of listened to it.:)

I love trees when their flowers are coming out.:)

Think I must get back into doing much more interesting recipes.. I have tended to stick to the same old stuff even tho' I have whole range of spices and herbs in my cupboards.

Andy and partner one the doubles too so we are still in the running.

Rather disappointed that my photo didn't show the primroses more clearly.

I would live on ready meals if I didn't have to cook.;):)

Oh NO.. Mary... they are so full of additives and not half as tasty as homemade.. I'm sure you wouldn't with your cooking abilities!

I was musing today on the things people say when confronted with disability problems. I know a lot of them are said with good intentions.. for example... when the podiatrist called to do my feet some while ago she commented on the roughness of my heels which on most occasions I do apply cream after having a shower so I told her my back had been really bad just lately and her immediate suggestion was to use a wooden spoon to apply it.

Now I'm sure she couldn't have thought that thro' or indeed tried it herself.
So I put a blob of cream on the spoon, plonk it on my heel.. and then what?!
If I can only bend down to that extent there is no way I could then rub it into my foot and much less likely put a blob on the other side of my foot..

Even worse tho' are those that have the ultimate remedy for back pain and announce that certain meds are wonderful. The fact is that everyone reacts differently to what they may be taking but it appears to go over their heads. (little rant over now)

Had a good day food-wise:

Breakfast - Oats 30g + Honey 1/2 Tblspn
Lunch - Egg hard boiled 1 + Salad Cream 20g + Bread 35g
Snack - Digestive Biscuit 1 + Ginger Tea 1 mug

Supper - Peach Slices 100g + Custard 1/4 pint
Extra - Milk - 240ml

I hope you have a lovely Sunday.

I need to try new recipes. I tend to make a lot of the same stuff.

Sunday 6th April 2014

Started the dress alterations today and then telephoned the young lady to ask her to come for a fitting as the shoulder straps have to be set at an angle as it's a fitted bodice. Was rather surprised to be met by a rather disgruntled reply.. there's no pleasing some people!

Other than that I've been quite lazy altho' I am pleased I have kept my carbs reasonably low.

Breakfast - Bacon 32g + Eggs poached 2 + Nescafe Coffee 1 teaspn + Cream 80ml
Lunch - Cheese 50g + Salad + Salad Cream 20g
