Advice for the PrawnchopSuey

Hi Oddsock, nice of you to pop by! :)

I do find red days a bit of a struggle sometimes, and most of the time my food diary on a red day could pass for either a green or red day, but I hope that reducing my carbs will help my losses.

My saviour is the mighty butternut squash and my favourite red day main meals are quorn sausages and BNS mash and roast BNS stuffed with red onion, feta and spinach.
Other ideas would be veggie lasagne (replacing the pasta with aubergine - does that make it moussaka? I never know...), or ratatouille-stuffed courgettes / aubergines, cauliflower cheese, quorn / veggie curries (no rice, but could syn a mini naan...)

There's also the possibility of having all green day meals but weighing the carby / beany content, e.g. lots of quorn bolognese with a HexB portion of pasta, veg omelette with HexB portion of SW chips (actually, when you make chips a HexB portion is quite a lot!).

A top tip I find is to have the most filling HexBs you can on red otherwise you can find you get very very hungry (or maybe that's just me!). I've been munching scanbran as it is very filling but it's horrid :)

:) Friday - green

Breakfast - banana mid-morning

Lunch - tin of spaghetti in tomato sauce, 4 scan bran (HexB) with philidelphia (HexA)
apple, pear

Snack - carrots

Dinner - Tuna (HexB) pasta bake (HexA for cheese on top)
SW ice cream
1.5 mini-twirls (9 syns)

Total syns: 9

Played badminton with OH and won two matches :)

:) Saturday - green

Brunch - leftover pasta bake (HexA for cheese), pear

Snacks - pear, apple, Alpen light bar (Half HexB), kit kat (5.5 syns)

Dinner - AH lentil dahl with prawns (one and a half HexB), rice, mini naan (7 syns)
fat free fromage frais with sweetener

Total syns: 12.5

Played 45 minutes of squash with OH and won one out of three matches :)

Yum. Well done on the squash. That must have made you feel good !!

Bit peed off today to be honest. Had a Sunday that was over-synned. Stuck to SW meals but munched quite a bit of chocolate - maybe 30 syns or so?
Did play an hour of squash too mind.
And I've put on 3lbs this week! Three bleeping pounds. That's so unfair :(

Plus I am in Paris this week (hence all the typos, not used to a French keyboard!) followed by a weekend at my mum's and a chocolate making course on Sunday....so there's no way I'll lose. I was really hoping for a good loss this week to give me some leeway for a gain next Monday so am very disappointed. Grrr.

Sorry to hear that Hun- last thing you needed after the whole new scales fiasco! But stick to it and it'll come off. Have fun in Paris

Well, I'm back in my hotel room now. Another bad day but peed off with this morning's WI:(

Monday - red

Lunch - ploughman's sandwich (HexA for cheese, HexB x 2 for bread)
bag of crisps (7 syns?)

Dinner - steak with roquefort (HexA), ratatouille and bread roll (only small - 5 syns?)
fromage blanc with honey (4 syns)
Caramel dairy milk bar (35 syns)

Funny news is, I opened my hotel room door and a cat ran out from the darkness and pegged it straight into my room. He then started to make himself comfy on my bed. He's obviously very tame as he won't leave me alone and just wants hundreds of cuddles :)
He has a tatooed ear so must belong to someone. His claws need trimming and he is a bit on the thin side though so i hope he hasn't been abandoned on the golf course next to the hotel. I fed him a biscuit and some water and he wolfed it down, but then he could just be greedy like my cat at home!
Looks like I have a visitor for the night anyhow, he's curled up on my chest now and doesn't look like he wants to leave any time soon! :)

Sorry to hear about this morning's weigh in but don't let it put you off your stride.

Lucky you with the cat. Hope you manage to get some sleep with him !!!

Good luck for this week. Whatever happens, I hope you enjoy it.

Ah bless your very own Paris pet! How very strange...
Are you going to check with the hotel staff - see if they know who he is?

Don't always go by what the scales say and with all that body magic you are doing I'm sure inch wise you are losing. Do as best as you can this week and hope you enjoy Paris :)

Thanks guys, am going to try and behave a bit better for the rest of the week and not let it get me down. I might be struggling to lose but I certainly don't want to ruin six months of SW and put it all back on.

Kitty showed no interest in leaving this morning until I got in the shower, then he started miaowing really loudly! I opened the door for him (soaking wet and with a head full of shampoo - was terrified he was going to poo on the hotel carpet, then I really would be in trouble!) and he ran out. I reckon he has breakfast and a comfy warm sofa to go home to so am not too worried. Cats are sneaky little things, he probably knows how to spend a minimum of time out in the cold by gatecrashing hotel rooms. Little tart! :)

Hello!

Well.... Paris went slightly off plan (featured meal out at a creperie with main course AND dessert)... then the weekend did too, with my chocolate making course on Sunday (mmm, white chocolate fudge, peppermint creams, chocolate truffles, sparkly chocolate stars...).

Miraculously have STS this week! I reckon that my unjustified gain last week has cancelled out the unjustified STS this week. I'll have to work pretty hard to STS next week I think, and not have a delayed gain.

Well, pretty much resigned to the fact that I won't be under 12 stone for Christmas... lots of things going on over the next few weeks. But I plan to stick to SW meals for the next month, knowing that my syns may well be over the limit, and hoping that this will help me hover around the 170lb mark over the festive period. Then come January I can refocus on getting some more weight off.

I am looking forward to getting back to the gym tonight though (snow permitting, the roads are a mess round here) and to feel a bit more healthy :)

well done on your STS, that chocolate making course sounds devine!!! id have scoffed the lot haha!! good for you for being sensible about christmas :) xx

Welcome back - glad you enjoyed Paris.

Good sensible approach for xmas - it's always a nightmare the lead-up with nights out and visitors etc.
Mmmm choc making course sounds devine yummy

Well done on your STS :) Remember it's not how quick you lose it, but that you will get there slowly but surely and enjoy the scenic route getting there, just don't go on a total diversion (which I'm sure you won't). Good luck for this week.

Thanks ladies. The chocolate was all amazing. i thought that after a few hours I would get sick of picking at it / licking the bowls, but no I did not! Have lots of deliciousness sitting at home now but I am going to bag and box some of it up for Christmas presents - that ought to stop me scoffing it too.

Today am going with a red day, fish, BNS chips and green beans this evening, followed by the gym!

Change of plan, went green...

:) Tuesday - green

Breakfast - banana mid-morning

Lunch - HM carrot and coriander soup, 5 scan bran (HexB), philidelphia (HexB)
Melon and grape pack

Dinner - Wholemeal pasta with onion, courgette, peppers, mushrooms, herbs and passata with grated cheese (HexA)
4 HM chocolate truffles (hard to count the syns, but I saw all the fat that went into them so best call it a day's worth!)

Total syns: 15

5km on the treadmill, 90 seconds walking then 60 seconds running (40mins 30secs)

OH was whinging that he was feeling a bit ill so I thought pasta would go down better than meat, especially with if the fish had a cheesy crust on as planned.

It felt great to get back to the gym, but unfortunately it wasn't one of my better ideas - my car got stuck in the car park and I had to ask a bunch of men at the gym to help push it out. Ooops. Roads around here are awful today, set off an hour early for work to be on the safe side... and it's just started snowing again....
