Advice for the PrawnchopSuey

Sounds like you had a lovely time away. The chocolate making course must have been so much fun?!
Well done with the sts. And I agree that you're plan for the holidays is a very sensible one :)

Thanks!

Breakfast - banana and apple mid-morning

Lunch - Carrot and coriander soup, brown roll (HexB), little bit of peanut butter (3 syns)

Dinner - cheesy crust (HexA) white fish with BNS chips and green beans
Truffles, fudge....

The office was closed at midday yesterday so I got home early (roads weren't even that bad, although my drive at home was a couple of feet deep so I parked on the road...). Went and did some food shopping for the neighbours (we have lots of old people around us), then put the Christmas tree up!!! Yay! I love Christmas. I wasn't allowed to put the Christmas CD on yet though....

:) Thursday - green

Breakfast - banana and apple mid-morning

Lunch - tin of spaghetti hoops, 5 scan bran (HexB) and philidelphia (HexB)

Snacks - melon and grape pack, apple

Dinner - quorn sausages, BNS and potato mash and peas with a smidge of bisto gravy (2 syns)
Chocolate truffles ;)

Didn't go to the gym tonight as was scared of getting stuck in the car park again. I could've got a lift there with OH on his way to work but that would have meant walking home and I didn't fancy that when I would be all sweaty and it is so cold outside.

Got a lentil recipe in the slow cooker today (Tarka dahl from the Hamlyn book) so hopfully will have something nice and warming for tea this evening. Temperature was -13 at home this morning, and fell to -14 according to the car when I got half a mile out of town. Brrr...

Wooah - its cold! Good looking food day :) Hope your lentils turn out nice, I love my slow cooker and its so easy for this time of year - enjoy!

:) Friday - green

Breakfast - banana, apple and alpen light bar (half HexB)

Lunch - tin of spaghetti hoops, apple

Snacks - apple, alpen light bar (Other half HexB)

Dinner - Tarka dahl with naan (Counting it as HexB plus 5 syns?)
Two mini twixes (14 syns)

Played an hour of badminton tonight but played badly and lost every game :(

Dahl was OK but I would add much more spice to it next time - I always find that curry recipes are a bit bland...

Unlucky... or I was just rubbish!

:) Saturday - green

Brunch - rice pudding (HexA) with honey (4 syns)

Dinner - aubergine curry, chicken curry (HexB for chicken, HexB for oil), dahl, rice and naan (15 syns), kulfi

Lager!

Went over to my sister's for her 30th birthday. We did an Indian themed murder-mystery and she cooked up lots of yummy food. Had a lovely time but very off-plan!

:) Sunday - red

Brunch - bacon and egg muffin, peanut butter muffin (HexB x 2 for muffins, 4 syns for peanut butter)

Dinner - roast gammon and veg (BNS, peppers, red onion, cherry toms, courgette)
Gingerbread men (LOADS - oh dear)

Not been a very successful weekend. Have STS this week, and am hoping for another STS next week as am away again this weekend visiting a friend who likes to cook! :)

Am in a foul mood as I think I've broken my car door :(

I've got a Peugeot 307cc, and there is no door frame around the windows. Normally, when you put your hand on the door handle, the window moves down slightly so that it 'unlocks' itself from the roof of the car and you can open the door.
Rencently with all the ice I have been having to force the door open as it is frozen shut and the window cannot move down (just like the electric windows won't work on most cars until the car has defrosted). Anyhow, this morning I think I forced it too much, and now I can't get the door shut properly, the door itself will shut but the window is not in place and there is a 1cm gap between the window and the side of the car. Grr. And then, as if I wasn't pee'd off enough, the car wouldn't actually move anywhere as it said the coolant temperature was too hot after the car sitting on the drive for ten minutes with the heaters on!
I am guessing that the coolant's frozen (I am not sure why message said too hot though?!) and hopefully this will sort itself out, but I think I might have bent the window and broken the electric mechanism. Grrr. Had to take OH's car into work this morning, and am so angry with myself as it was essentially me that forced the door open and I don't want to face a hefty garage bill just before Christmas.
Grrrrrrr.

Anyhow, plan for today is green:

Breakfast: rice pudding (HexA) with banana and honey (2 syns)

Lunch: Leftover roast veg with couscous, apple, pear

Snack: apple

Dinner: baked beans and cheese (HexA) on toast (HexB x 2)
Gingerbread man (4 syns)

Planned syns: 6

Usually a late dinner on Mondays because of college - but I won't be able to get there tonight if my car is broken :(

Ah hun sorry to hear about your car. I don't drive so can't give you any car advice sorry... but I really hope it doesn't cost too much to fix... things like this always happen at the worst time don't they.

Your Indian night sounds yum - I love how you've used your HEXB for naan bread lol! I've never been to a murder mystery - I bet they're fab fun when you're with a good group
I'll have to take a look at that dhal recipe, I haven't used my slow cooker in a while. I do agree though - it's so difficult to guage spices in the slow cooker as you can't taste it all the time!

Had a rubbish day yesterday. On Monday OH had thawed out the car and topped up the oil and thought it was all fine. I drove to college (only a couple of miles) on Monday evening with no problems.

Then on Tuesday morning I set off to work... and after about 5 mile a big warning light told me to stop immediately and the oil temperature was at the maximum like yesterday morning. So I pulled into a village hall car park and had to call the breakdown people at about 7.30.
Just before 11 (it was -12 when I set off too! 3 and a half hours in the freezing cold!) i got it towed to the garage.
Worked from home for the afternoon and today have used OH's car.
The garage have rung to say that they think it was just completely frozen - a 1:1 ratio of water:antifreeze is not enough in this weather apparently, you need 100% antifreeze in the coolant. Don't know how you can get the coolant out to replace it with antifreeze though - I guess you would have to take it to a garage. Hopefully will pick it up later and it will be OK and no lasting damage has been done to the engine. Hopefully...

Well, this sent my day into ANOTHER day off plan. Ate a stack of gingerbread men and chocolate. To try and redeem myself I did do my Steps DVD, slendertone and an arm workout in the evening and treated myself to clean sheets (not that I could wash the dirty ones - inlet pipe to washing machine is frozen solid!).

:) Tuesday - green

Breakfast - banana, pear, 2 alpen light (HexB), pile of gingerbread men

Lunch - tomato pasta mugshot
chocolate

Dinner - tuna steak (HExB) with stirfry veg and noodles

My car is also acting up again...think it's the winter months...better take mine to a garage soon too before I get stuck on the roads.
Good luck this week :)

Nightmare ! Well done on having a good day yesterday though. Hope the rest of the week gets better and the car stays working.

Gail x

Well, I made it into work today so the car is behaving itself so far! Got it serviced while it was at the garage so I feel a bit more confident taking it out in this weather (and quite a bit poorer!)

:) Wednesday - green

Breakfast - rice pudding (HexA) with banana

Lunch - Curried BNS and swede soup, pear, apple

Snacks - apple, pear, fibre plus bar (haven't had one of these in ages and it was goooood...HexB), bourbon (4 syns?)

Dinner - Egg fried rice with onion, pepper, musrooms, peas and mussel meat (HexB)
Solero (5 syns)

TV night - can't believe Liz was fired and that Alan Sugar fell for Stuart's brown-nosing! Stuart definitely to go next week!

Ah hun sounds like you had a horrible time with your cars!
At least it sounds as though it's sorted now - although not an expense you need just before xmas...

Argh, winter and cars! I'm amazed mine even starts some mornings, it's 15 years old! My dad keeps badgering me about the anti-freeze thing, but it would be simpler if he just did it for me....;)

Hope your car is ok now, and no more scary flashy warning lights!
