Pasta, pasta, pasta....

Just noticed that I had pasta last night (in a hurry after college and felt a bit beaned out from chilli at lunch and Sunday night...), am having leftover pasta for lunch and am making pasta bolognese this evening for dinner! It's amazing I don't get bored of the stuff!
Got rice, potato pasta, BNS planned for Wed-Sat evenings so more variation there at least :)

Favour please...
Can you share your mixed bean chilli recipe please?
I fancy making one as part of my batch cooking at the weekend and was going to kinda make it up but it might be nice to have a recipe to follow! Also do you know if it freezes ok?

Haven't been on your diary in an age. Glad you had a lovely weekend away (and some yummy food) it does you good to have a treat every so often. I'm off out this weekend (Saturday) so I'll be off plan too eeeeeek am a bit nervous of it. Good luck on whittling down that little gain x

Thanks Red Riding Hood! i can't believe I gained 3lbs in one weekend though - that's huge! One night off shouldn't make a difference so I am sure you will be fine, especially if you flexi syn it to avoid doing too much damage! Good luck :)

Ooooh Sarah, I love my chilli, it's one of my favourite SW meals! The recipe was from a magazine at some point last year, except that I always use a carton / tin as my measurement as its a pain having half tins of stuff hanging round in the fridge:

Fry 1 onion and 4 garlic cloves for 6 mins
Add tin cherry toms (I tend to use chopped toms though as I always have them in), cumin and carton passata and simmer for 20 mins.
Add 1 red and 1 green pepper, small tin sweetcorn, tin of red kidney beans in chilli sauce and 2 tins of drained beans of your choice (I like cannelini and pinto but any will do the job!), crushed chillis, paprika. Simmer for 15 minutes or so and voilà!
So easy and soooo good :D

Don't know about freezing but I would guess it would be fine. Nothing tends to last long enough in my house to freeze

Yum thanks I shall copy your recipe! (minus the peppers though as hubby doesn't like...will think of another veggie to use, maybe some finely chopped carrot when the onion's cooking).
You're right can't see why it wouldn't be ok to freeze
How many portions would you say that makes?

I love peppers too but unfortunately hubby hates them. That's why I gorge on them in my lunchtime salads!! I REFUSE to make two dinners so I have to make do with not having peppers (and all the other veggies he doesn't like), he has to make do with SW meals !!

Glad you had a lovely weekend (woah its thurday already!) :) 'Beaned out', ha ha I love that expression, I think I could use that sometimes too...... I do love my beans, and pasta, and peppers, and ......(the list goes on). We love our food dont we!

Hi pcSuey, your weekend away sounds fantastic, as did the food, that 3lb will fall away, esp if you keep up with the beans!

thanks for your support and lovely messages on my diary, got me thru a rough patch, mum started chemo yesterday so feel better in myself, one down, five to go, the start of mum's recovery

thanks for chilli recipe, have stolen it, will try soon as i want something i can take into work with me

lots of love, donna x

ps i love peppers and they always repeated on me but since i have been SW they don't - weird!!

Oooh lots of visitors today!
OH tries to say he doesn't like some veg (and chickpeas, and beans that aren't in tomato sauce...) but he always manages to eat them when that's what's on offer for tea!! Peppers do have quite a strong taste though so I can imagine that they would ruin a meal if you don't like them...
Donna, I am glad your mum's chemo has started now. Even though it might be hard to see her suffer with the treatment it is all helping fight the illness and will lead to the start of her recovery. And you are strong enough to support her with it and not to let food be a refuge.

If only I could listen to my own advice.... I had a crappy von crappenstein kind of day at work yesterday and ruined an on-plan day with 4 twix bars in the evening. Yes, 4. About 1400 calories worth, and goodness knows how much saturated fat. And as I was doing it I was conscious that it was a reaction to being stressed / upset and was trying to tell myself that making myself fat won't help anything at all, and yet somehow couldn't stop myself :(

Wednesday - green

Breakfast - banana

Lunch - quorn pasta bolognese with grated cheese (half HexA), pear, apple

Snack - tangerine

Dinner - jacket potato with cheese (other half HexA) and baked beans
4 twixes :(

Need to get a grip and some self-control - not a happy bunny!

Choccie bars kinda talk to ya init.... "go on, eat me, you'll only feel good for about 10 mins, but imagine the bliss while you do, so go on stuff me down ya gob, you know you wanna".

Then the guilt hits you, and you wanna slap yourself, for being so stupid!

We have all been there, it what you do afterwards that makes the difference, you either hit a bump in the road, and fall of the wagon, or you grab yourself, look in the mirror, remind yourself why your doing this, and give yourself a stern talking to, and get back on plan!

You can do it sweety! xxx

Ah Hun I'm exactly the same when I've had a crap day at work... Seems at the time like chocolate is the only answer. Don't fret over it though - you've had such a good week v. Low on syns so i'm sure you'll be fine. Big hugs for a rubbish day x

Thank you ladies! Chocolate is definitely a bingeing weak point for me, must develop some restraint!

:) Thursday - green

Breakfast - none, oops

Lunch - jacket potato with tuna (HexB) / fromage frais and cherry tomatoes
apple, pear

Snack - 2 tangerines

Dinner - Egg fried rice with peas, sweetcorn and bacon (HexB)

....but my hotel chocolat parcel arrived..... aaarrrrgggghh

Mmm I look forward to seeing a photo of the dreaded chocs posted.

Would you believe we actually have *some* of the fruit and nut wreath left... not really sure how though ?? Think it's because I've spent too many evenings sleeping on the sofa to be able to snack!
