Advice for the PrawnchopSuey

Thanks, but didn't make it to the gym again .
Well, it was horrible and rainy and windy outside...
Maybe tonight?!

Plan for today:
Breakfast - fat free fromage frais, sweetener, banana
Lunch - cup-a-pasta, apple, pear
Dinner - Speedy prawn curry
Evening strategy - peanut butter on toast, Solero

Didn't make it to the gym, but WILL DO TONIGHT INSTEAD :)
Although I'm limping even more this morning after Tuesday's session, so will stick to rowing and the other non-impact machines! All a bit experimental 'cos I've not really got that much gym experience and don't know much about all the different machines.
Anyone got any tips on good machines to use?

Did you go to the doctor to check on your foot and what's wrong? The first few weeks when I started I had a bad pain, but it went away after a few days...think it possibly was a muscle or something.
I would say just try to avoid all the machines (treadmill/crosstrainer/bike) until your leg gets better. Maybe some light impact would be better like the motion you use when you do the Hula Hoop on the WII, try to focus on doing situps, arm exercises.
Hope you get well soon!

Hi Meli,
Thanks for the advice, I have been trying to do arm exercises most days but I do feel I need cardio to try and burn off some of the wobble. Toning all my flab might be a bit ambitious! I am taking Ibuprofen and *should be* ice packing my leg daily to try and sort it out - that's pretty much what a doctor will recommend to start with. I think I probably pulled my quad muscle. I'm lucky 'cos my mum's a doctor so I can ring her and get advice without facing the waiting room germs! If it keeps up for much longer though I might just go to the doctor though; a bit of physio might be in order, and probably a talking to that if I wasn't so heavy I wouldn't put so much pressure on my legs :(

Ey up Mrs! What’s going on with your leg?? Sounds painful!! :( It’s a nightmare when you actually want o do some exercise but physically can’t! Frustrating to say the least!

Your diary is looking good through Prawny (minus the chocolate blips!) – I have had a few of them myself with the shop next to us selling all the Christmas chocoloate off at less than half price – what’s that all about! Grrr!

I made some SW friendly things last night though so am pleased to be back on track!

I hope your leg sorts itself out soon and you are back on that treadmill ASAP x x

Aw, thanks Kat! I went to the gym on New Year's Eve and did my 5km on the treadmill as usual.... leg felt a bit tight afterwards, but after a few hours on the sofa I couldn't walk! So I stayed in on New Years and everything. It gradually improved but still isn't 100% and I went to the gym this week for the first time since then - I don't think it has helped matters.
I've got shopping to do tomorrow, so by hook or by crook I shall be walking around the shops :) So it can't be that damaged ;)

And I'm glad to see that you're back on track. I'm very wobbly with my SW at the moment, no will power AT ALL, but I am trying to get back on plan with a vengence and lose some lard! As long as I don't gain masses while I'm wobbling I am not too gutted :)

Wow 5kms...think the most I've done is just over 3.1km :) You are good!! I'm slowly building my way up and I used to just jog the whole time, but now after every 5 mins (after 15 mins) I just have a 30 second break (and catch my breath ;) and have some water and clean all the sweat off) and then start jogging again. This was a recommendation from one of the ladies who also does jogging at the gym.
Try to go for the physio as that may help!!

Hey Prawny!

How did the shopping trip go? Did you get anything nice?

How's the knee holding up?

How did weigh in go?

Lots of questions! Hope you have had a good (in all senses of the word!!) weekend ;)

Where are you hiding?? :hide:

Come back Suey!!!!!! :D :D

:wavey:

I'm baaaack!!
Was in France last week and then enjoyed my birthday weekend (it was my birthday yesterday).

Weighed in yesterday morning and STS - still on 176lb.
Need to get my bum in gear but at the same time am happy that I haven't put any on over the past couple of weeks.
Manic at work so much less time to post as well, but thank you all so much for checking in on me and it looks like you're all doing really well as well, so a massive WELL DONE.

Hopefully I'll be back soon with a more detailled update (bet you can't wait ;) )

WELL DONE on STS over your birthday and a week in France - that's a fantastic acheivement.
Looking forward to hearing how you celebrated your birthday x

Hello! Thought I'd pop by and say hello, I've been in the healthy eating forums for the past couple of weeks and I feel like Harry Potter locked in the cupboard under the stairs, it's lonesome over there! Hope your leg's feeling better! Your profile pic looks great by the way! xx

Just popped in to your diary after the comments I added on mine. Looks like you are back on track and well done on the STS despite being away!

Welcome back you were missed...

A bit late, but happy birthday :D Hope you had a lovely birthday weekend.

I really do feel your pain with the SW wobbles. It's a bit of a nightmare at the moment isn't it?! My will power keeps running off on me too

Hope your leg is getting better. Look after yourself dude.xx

;)Yoo hoo!!

Sorry I didn't realise you were away hun - was it work or pleasure?? Hopefully the latter!! :)

:birthday: for Monday gone!!! Hope you had a fab day!

And well done for STS over your birthday - that is amazing! I am going to try to be extra good until my birthday but no promises for that weekend!!!

Hope the food plans have gone well so far this week - come on Prawny we can do it!!!!! :D

How's the leg?

Thank you for your lovely comments. I turned 27 obese and have just turned 28 overweight. Wouldn't it be great to turn 29 a healthy weight??? Hmm, not sure if I can do it but it's a nice goal!

Didn't do much to celebrate to be honest, have been on a bit of a downer as work has been quite stressful and I have been really fed up of getting in to work early, leaving work late, going home, cooking, OH leaving for work (so I've not spent any proper time with him) then only having a couple of hours before bed then doing it all again. I used to be a teacher and gave it up as I got so sick of working every hour God sends, evenings, weekends, and I don't want to make the same sacrifices with this job. I think I have to learn to say 'no', as I am the type who has work up to my eyeballs then gets a phonecall from the boss asking to do something 'urgently' and I hear myself saying 'OK, I'll have a look at that right now...'. I'm just a sucker ;)

it's weird but I seem to gain more when I have a bad SW week and know I've gone over my syns by 10 or 15 each day, then when I go completely crazy and don't stick to plan at all (like the past couple of weeks...) Maybe it's cos if I am semi-trying I end up having my carb-laden SW meals AND junk food whereas when I'm off plan I eat junk but fewer meals?? or maybe being more relaxed about food helps? I don't know, but have been lucky last week :)

On my birthday as well I had college, so rushed from work to college to the gym for a shower (cos our boiler's been broken ) and didn't get home until 10pm ish, so gave my mum a quick call (it's her birthday the same day as mine!), ate, then went to bed! Busy busy :)

Leg's still sore, but I've got a GP appointment next week. Really need to get back to the gym, not only to tone up but also to get me out of the evening munchies cycle. I can go even with my sore leg to be honest and use the non-impact stuff like the arc trainer / rowing machines but I am being laaaaaaazy.

Need some motivation to get properly back on the wagon - hopefully going to book my summer hols next week so that should help!!

Plan for today:
breakfast - banana
lunch - cup-a-pasta, fruit, ryvit and philidelphia
dinner - quorn sausage and BNS mash
GYM
Cheese on toast

Wow sounds like you have had a busy couple of weeks. I know what you mean about being up to your eyes yet still taking more and more on, this is exactly what I was like from about 2 years ago, I was doing things which managers 2 levels above me should have been doing, and not getting very well paid for it either might I add. And I could NEVER say no - I would always take on more and more and wonder why when I got home my shoulders were rock hard from all the tension I'd been carrying through the day.

But... it's funny how finding out that you're being made redundant makes you much less willing to take on more stuff lol!

I know what you mean about going off-plan - as you know I haven't been on plan pretty much for the last month but as my meals have been so small I've been ok (so far). You're probably right, if you concentrate on getting your meals right but then throw junk in as snacks, then you're bound to be eating more overall!

Good luck at the docs next week - hope they can shed some light on what's wrong with your leg
