Advice for the PrawnchopSuey

Oh, and Sarah, I think you should become a doctor... He agreed with your diagnosis that my leg is indeed a mystery. Must be the correct medical term ;)

Hmmm.... I can't say I'd considered doctor as a profession after redundancy, but with a diagnosis like that how could I not!!

Shame he couldn't find what was wrong - sometimes not knowing is a lot worse.

Well done on avoiding the choc yesterday!

Well done you on avoiding the chocs - very good going! Its so much harder after you've got a taste for them too the day before...... well done :)

Thank you! It made me feel nice and in control, hopefully today will be the same again :)

Plan for today:
breakfast - banana and apple
lunch - cup-a-pasta, ryvita
snacks - plum, apple, muller light
dinner - Spanish style casserole with rice
GYM
evening snack - cheese on toast

Awww WOW your holiday sounds amazing! :D Love the nomadic theme! Wherever you lay your boat that's your home and all that! :)
What a fab idea for a holiday! ….and light until midnight!? - brilliant - I have almost forgotten what light nights and sunshine feel like!!

Do you do a lot of kayaking? With living in a city that has a river running right through the centre of it I have alaways enjoyed my water sports - canoeing, kayaking and especially rowing! They are so much fun but also quite a lot of hard work - burning calories as well as having fun - sounds good to me!!!

Glad to see you are back on plan now - having a goal such as a holiday is always a great kick up the backside - mine is my 30th in 6 weeks and then my holiday in 15 weeks! I think it's definitely a case of "keep your eyes on the prize!"

Hope your day is going well! :D

Hi Kat!

I started kayaking when OH and I went on our first holiday together in 2007! We thought we'd try something new and spent a week sea kayaking in a group of 8 inthe South of France. It was amazing, paddling from beach to beach and sleeping out under the stars every night... So we looked into it and got ourselves a couple of kayaks of our own. I wouldn't say I do it regularly but we tend to make it the focal activity of our summer holidays. Have been to the lake district and down the river wye in recent years but haven't been to anywhere exotic (and sunny) since that trip to France!
It really does feel like you've achieved something with your holidays if you keep active. Although a few lazy days does wonders too :)

Another good day for me today!

:) Wednesday - green

Breakfast - banana, apple
Lunch - cup-a-pasta, mullerlight yoghurt
Snacks - plum, apple, salt and vinegar rice cake (1 syn)
Dinner - Spanish style casserole (1 thin slice chorizo - 2 syns?)
Snack - Fibre plus bar (HexB)

And went to the gym! 200 calories burned on the cross trainer (10km I think if I read the unit of measure correctly) and 110 calories on the rowing machine (2km).

I got my freebie quorn cookbook through in the post last week and have to say I'm quite impressed with it. Got a few ideas and because (unsurprisingly) they all contain quorn, they are all easy to adapt to a meaty version by replacing quorn with the real deal.

So tonight I tried Spanish syle casserole - mine had quorn sausages in it, OH's had chorizo. Couldn't resist pinching a bit of chorizo, it smells so good!!

I am missing a HexA and HexB for today - must try to include them all, I think my food was a little sparse today...Right, enough waffling, I'm off to bed. Good night :)

Good morning!
Day 4 and think I've shifted last week's gain already :)
Plan for today:
breakfast - banana
lunch- leftover Spanish style casserole, apple
snacks - plum, muller light
dinner - pasta with creamy mustard sauce and beef strips (another attempt from the quorn cook book, but I couldn't find quorn steak style strips in my tesco)
snacks - strawberries and froamge frais, cheese on toast

Tonight might be a bit of a test because I am not going to the gym - it's TV night! Location location followed by Marchlands. Can I do it without reaching for the chocolate?? Let's hope so :)

Got to keep thoughts in mind of prancing about in a bikini in July. Yep, prancing, and it's not going to happen unless at least another stone comes off ;)

Mmm your food sounds yum - wouldn't mind having a nose at the Spanish casserole and beef in creamy mustard sauce recipes...

I was gutted, when the free cookbook offer was on all the Quorn stuff I had delivered from Tesco didn't have the promotional labels on so I never got to send off for it... (not that I really need another cookbook...)

Hi Sarah, I have a feeling that if you got to the quorn website and enter the barcode numbers from non-promotional packs it will still let you order the book! Worth a try...

Rough recipes were:

Spanish style casserole:
Cook quorn sausages, cut into slices and keep aside. Fry 2 onions and 2 garlic cloves; add chilli powder and paprika and a couple of peppers (not for your hubby though!) and fry for 3-4 mins; add sweetcorn, cannelloni beans (that's what it says in the book but i think cannellini beans will work just as well ;) ),tin of chopped tomatoes and a bit of veg stock; add the sausage slices, cover and simmer for 10mins.

Creamy steak pasta:
Put pasta on to boil; Fry onion and steak (style) strips; add chopped garlic, sweetcorn and blanched green beans and cook for a few minutes; Mix together creme fraiche and wholegrain mustard, chives, salt and pepper (I used well-seasoned fromage frais, egg, mustard seeds and chives instead); Add drained pasta to the meat mixture, stir through the sauce. Season well - I thought it tasted better with quite a bit of pepper on.

Well, I survived this evening:

:) Thursday - green

Breakfast - banana
Lunch - leftover Spanish style casserole and rice, apple
Snacks - plum, muller light, rice cake (1 syn)
Dinner - Creamy steak (HexB) pasta
Fromage frais with sweetener
Snack - Cheese (HexA) on toast (HexB), 3 chocolates (8 syns)

Well done on sticking to just a few chocs!
Thanks for the recipes - both sound good (for when my desire to cook returns anyway!)
Lol at the canneloni beans!

Thanks for checking in on me! Scales are definitely moving in the right direction this week, which is great motivation to keep at it!
It's daft how, when you're on a roll, you can't imagine why you would ever go off plan! Although it's very easily done...

Plan for today:
breakfast - banana
lunch - pasta leftovers (HexB for steak)
snacks - fruit
GYM
dinner - egg, beans and cheesy chips (HexA)
strawberries and fromage frais

I have a friend coming tomorrow for the weekend so I need to plan nice things to cook. She's uber-healthy though and doesn't drink alcohol most of the time so she won't lead me astray I'm sure :)

Oh wow, have you been over there to visit? Vasteras looks beautiful, on the edge of the water too :)
I am going to St Anna, which is about 3hrs south of Vasteras :)

I haven't yet, no, but were hoping to goto his familys summer house next year *fingers crossed*

I love the fact that it's so normal to have a summer house in Sweden -must be fab to disappear off to a little log cabin for the summer :)

:) Friday - green

Breakfast - banana
Lunch - leftover pasta (HexB for steak), plum
Snacks - apple, plum, carrot
Dinner - cheesy chips (HexB for cheese), 1 chocolate (3 syns)

Went to the gym and did 10.4km on the cross trainer (without stopping this time...200 kcal burned), and 2km on the rowing machine (111 kcal burned).

Am exhausted now, time for bed :)

:) Saturday - green

Lunch - tuna and sweetcorn chowder (Half HexB for tuna, HexA for milk, ?syns for 1/4 tbsp flour), bread (HexB)

Dinner - chicken and sweet potato curry (Half HexB for chicken, ?syns for 1/4 tbsp red thai curry paste and 1/4 tin reduced fat coconut milk) with rice
Strawberries

Not sure on syns, but doubt it's more than 15 so all good :)

Mmm that curry sounds lovely!
Flour is 3.5 syns a tbsp, the paste I think is 2 syns a tbsp.
Not sure about coconut milk - my book says 2.5 syns for 2 tbsp...
Can't imagine the amount you had would be more than 5 syns so way within your syns! Hope you're having a nice time with your friend over

Thank you so much Sarah!
Just searched on here and found reduced fat coconut milk is 17.5 syns per 400ml can, so I will say 4.5 syns for that, plus 1 for flour and a half syn for the paste. 6 syns for the day, fab!

I had a great time with my friend! It rained most of the weekend but it's nice just to have a good old natter. Today we went to a ceramics studio and painted some bowls. Going to pick them up later in the week when they've been glazed :)

:) Sunday - EE

Breakfast - banana

Lunch - pub meal, eeek. I had lasagne (HexA for cheese, Hex B for oil?!)seasonal veg and a half slice of garlic bread.
Strawberry ice cream

Dinner - Tomato soup, muller light yoghurt
Mini twix (5.5 syns)

So... I had a virtuous breakfast and dinner, but lunch was naughty. I'm hoping the scales will still be kind tomorrow :)

Wooohooo well done! And that's after a pub lunch yesterday too.
A really good start to your pounds off plan for holiday!

I was heading for 4lbs off until the pub meal, which is why I'm hoping 2lbs is realistic for this week... Got to stay focused though, only 18 weeks until our holiday!! I'd love to be in the region of 160lb by then, but got to stick at it and not cave in after a couple of weeks like I have been doing since Christmas...

Plan for today:
breakfast - banana, apple
lunch - tomato soup, ryvita, philidelphia
snacks - plum, mandarine
dinner - baked beans with cheese

Got college tonight so it's going to be a rushed late dinner. Can't wait to get back to the gym tomorrow! :)

You'll be fine now you've got the holiday as motivation - it will make you stick at it! And persuade you to go to the gym!
How's your leg doing ?
