Chelsea Lou - The Ventura adventure, not a sinking ship!

Sounds like a lovely evening. I have just dropped daughter & friend off to town, she has a 'midnight jam' party, so went off with guitar & harmonica, then getting lift back to friend in town to stay the night & home on first bus. Eeek. She'll be fine, she has a great group of friends & no school tomorrow as it's half term. So I am on my lonesome, hope to get a bit more work done.

Like you, I have a shake saved for now, which feels like a real treat.

Well done Chels on talking yourself down from the panic. Wagon moving gently onwards, all aboard!

Thanks KC. My niece and I spent some of the evening looking at the virtual tour of the Ventura. She is uber excited about going on "the best holiday of my life" ...she is 12, bless. Seeing all of the wonderful facilities on board we both got carried away and it made me re-focus. So thanks Jesamine for making me see it through the eyes of a 12 year old. She thought we were going to be on something akin to a cross-Channel ferry and my sister was amazed by the cabins, she had imagined a caravan-style bedroom with bunk beds and 3 inches of space between the beds and the door :D

So glad you had a nice evening too Katy x
Aww Chels Sweetie, so sorry that you've had a bad time but glad that you are on 'the up' again. Isn't it scary when that happens? I think the regret is so hard to deal with but I know now that it's so important to move on.
Wonderful advice from Katy and others, I couldn't offer any more, just my support, hugs and understanding as always. xxx
Thank you Bess. Support, hugs and understanding always welcomed. Without minis I think I would have folded. As tempted as I was to stay away I didn't because I knew that would have been dieting suicide.

Any future wobbles will be tackled the same way.....not hiding away. :)
Hi Chels - Just catching up on your diary! You've had a rough couple of days but I have to say that I LOVE the way you handled that clamper!! :banana dancer: Shaking your goods at him must have been priceless to watch - I bet you made that other man's day!!

Don't worry about the digestives. It happens to all of us and personally if it was me I would have bought far more than a packet of biscuits! You are doing brilliantly to jump straight back on so put it behind you. Katy's post was really good so can't add to that really.

Have a nice evening with your family!
Thanks Alli, it is an amusing picture isn't it. Me shaking my tic-tacs at some surly skin-head :D That'll learn him lol. Sister and niece coming over yesterday was a life-saver and minis, of course. Sis was so "wow, look at how much weight you've lost" as soon as she walked through the door and you think 'yes, actually I have done well and I want to continue to do well' Feeling much better today. xx
Morning chels mmm biscuits not the end of the world today you will be fine .!

Keep your chin up chick , have a good day won't you xx
Thanks Shanny. Biscuits and chocolate (Friday night) really isnt the end of the world...you're right but at the time you think it really is the end of your world and the panic of thinking that you can't reel yourself back in. That is the biggest thing I have to learn I think. That one "swallow" does not a disaster make :D:D:D

To everyone...........You are all fab and I appreciate you guys so very much. :heartpump: xx

G'morning Chels... hope you are in good fettle and raring to go. Moving on and the path ahead looks clear...

xxx
Morning Katy, cross posted but yes, I am feeling fine today. Back in the safety of work - somehow I feel much safer, more occupied at work, less time to brood on things. How is your day going so far?

A work colleague walked in just ahead of me this morning and she looked positively skinny. Turns out she has been doing Cambridge (again) since 4th Jan and lost 1.5 stones. Strange, on Friday she looked like she always does yet Monday morning it was "Bloody Hell Kim, have you lost weight?" That's what I am aiming for - I want someone to say "Bloody Hell etc etc" in the next couple of weeks. Someone that doesn't know I am doing this.........because then that REALLY counts :D:D

Are you still worrying about your London trip or have you put in contingency plans? xx

Morning Chels, glad to see you back on track and I am sure someone will be saying that about you very soon, you are doing brilliantly. As for your multi region player, even if it isn't you can sometimes find ways on google to turn it into a multi region player by holding down certain keys and typing in numbers, we always check it out before we buy a DVD player to make sure we can turn it into a multi region one, most of them can be done, just google it.

Have a great day xx

Great... that's incentive if ever you had it! But your sister DID say pretty much that, didn't she, so it IS working!

Last night & early this morning (never sleep well when DD is out on the razz) I was reading a book called The Girl in the Painted Caravan, a memoir by Eva Petulengro... Romany palmist & astrologer. (It's research, honest - and a great antidote to Big Fat Gypsy wedding too!) This morning I am imagining a painted bow-top wagon drawn by a piebald cob, weaving slowly but surely through the country lanes. Who would ever want to hurl themselves overboard? Not me!

Hang on to that cruise excitement, it's going to be brilliant!

Just added after reading Greeneyes' post - I looked at the link Mel posted re: partridge family DVD and the top one on the page was not a region 1 only US import - so that one should be fine for your player anyway.

xxx

Thanks GE, I'll have to get the book of words out re the DVD player but when my ex bought it for me I am sure he made sure that it was multi region. He was a bit of a DVD freak. Had hundreds of them, so feel pretty sure he would have checked for this.

Hope things are ok with you and that you have a lovely Monday x

A good start to a better week!!! Yeah, Us!!!

Hi Chels, KC and Greeneyes --

Morning all. It sounds like everyone is having a good day, so far. Yeah, us!

@Greeneyes,

I wasn't sure if the season one was region 1 or not (because it did not say), but as all the others were -- I wanted give Chels a heads up.

Also, I meant to mention that you can use your laptop to view the DVDs. --
And, I learned something new: I had no idea that you could fiddle the codes on a DVD player to make it work. (Thanks for that!)

Makes sense for the newer ones... when we finally decided to upgrade our TV, I asked my husband if it was multisystem and he said, "They are all multisystem now, it does not make sense to make anything else."

@Chels -- I wish you lived closer we could do a regular Partridge Family viewing night. There were 96 episodes (4 seasons as we say, or series as you say) and 10 record albums made (that is CDs to you younger ones). lol

When my CFF (Cheese Fiend Friend -- the one who is STILL gearing up to CD 6 weeks on) asked me about what I had been doing when she called, I had to tell her about our David Cassidy posts and how I had started Wikipedia-ing him and Shaun. lol

And, she sighed and said, "I so LOVED Shaun Cassidy. The Hardy Boys mysteries was a never miss." lol (She is about 44, just enough younger to prefer Shaun, who is 52 years old now, to David.) I preferred Parker Stevenson; he played the other Hardy Boy -- and is 60, the same age as David. And, la ittle trivia here: he was married to Kristie Alley (who was on Cheers). They were such a beautiful couple.

Kristie is now "fameously fat". For a while she was a spokesperson for Nutri-systems, I think. And, she has her own reality show that is about her losing weight -- she even got her handyman gardner involved in some sort of a competition with her. It was too weird for me to watch (and that is saying something).

Long post... sorry, I tend to do that.

Mel, that could be arranged. :D How long would it take us to get through 96 episodes?????? My 'lil sis was with me yesterday and I was telling her about this conversation. We used to watch the PF together every Saturday morning, she suddenly developed that far away look in her eyes yesterday too hahaha.

I love his "I am a Clown", "Cherish" and, ooooooooooh, everything. I really must calm down, I am getting totally unnecessary ;)

Day 37

Today's calendar Words of Wisdom:-

After all is said and done, a lot more will have been said than done

Good morning everyone. I hope you are all well. Did you all have good weekends?

My fall from grace has been well documented on here and the reasons why, so won't go over all that again. Just to thank everyone for their support, understanding and good advice. Mmmwwwahhhhh!!!!!

My head is back, the right way round, on my shoulders as of yesterday. Seemed like it was doing a 360 (Exorcist) for a couple of days. I felt a bit wobbly then but I don't today, which is a relief. WI tomorrow and I don't expect to see a loss. STS would be a relief but will definitely be making amends over the next 8 days for next week.

I will discuss with CDC about moving up to 810, although at the moment I don't feel it to be absolutely vital, unlike how I felt at the weekend.

Love and stuff

xxxx

@Chels --

Do you live near the Bracknell Forest? If so, it is about 100 mile drive from my place. lol

Maybe I could buy a Season (Series), then watch it and swap with you. Then when we've watched all four seasons -- Ebay them and spilt the money. ;)

Do you think there are more UK David fans?

I think the first 45 I bought was Cherish.

"Cherish is the words I use to decribe...ahahahahahah. All the feelings that I have hiding here for you inside....ahahahahahah... I don't know how many times..."

I cannot believe that I do not remember the words to the National Anthem, but I after 30 years I remember these. lol

MinnieMel

There are, Mel! That was probably my first single too, but DC was quickly replaced by Donny Osmond... aghh, the shame of it, let's not go there! PF was big over here at a certain point, and DC was mega. C'mon then, while we are down memory lane, who else did you like from back then? Bowie, David Essex & Marc Bolan were some of my other pre-teen crushes!

I am right on the edge of Bracknell Forest and they are my local authority, so 100 miles??? Piece of cake (no pun intended) I know what you mean about being able to recall lyrics, conversations, events from eons ago, yet someone just asked me if I'd had a good weekend and I had forgotten what I did. Madness? Most probably lol.

Just reading those lyrics has made me go all gooey, like a 15 year old again. Song words these days are all about wanting to **** and ******* !!! There are no words of love anymore (well maybe there are but you can't understand what they are singing about lol)

I know I sound like an old fart but courtship.....oooh delicious. No game playing, mind games etc etc. A boy asking you out, the gradual, embarrassed, awkward build up to the first kiss. Holding hands. The first time he put his arm around your waist felt positively sluttish lol. Putting the arm up on the record player, so that the 45 you were listening to would repeat over and over and over again. I think that is why I enjoy watching all the old programmes, Happy Days, PF, etc etc because life was so much nicer then. And......click......you are back in the room :D:D

Idea for a theme party.......for our minis get-together,
Character from a 1970s show. I bagsy being Susan Dey, as long as I get to kiss DC x

@KC --

I almost cried when Donny got married. *sigh*

I also had a big crush on Michael Jackson back before he did all those crazy surgeries.

Was Leif Garret ever popular here? My younger sister was in LUv with him.

KC, never bought into the tomb-stoned toothed Donny but Bowie.......sex on legs.. and still is. I loved all of his phases, Diamond Dogs, Ziggy and in the 80s when he donned suits, and blonde, foppish hair...phwoar!!

The first time I ever saw him he was on ToTP, all long, curly blond hair, playing acoustic guitar singing "Space Oddity" I absolutely fell in love there and then. It was just after the first moon landings. They held off on the release of the record until the astronauts were safely back on earth, so I was a very hormonal 14 year old lol.

"Ground Control to Major Tom, take your protein pill and put your helmet on" la la lalala la la :D

Lady Grinning Soul always gets me feeling a bit peculiar too ;)

@Chels --

That would actually be a lot of fun! A 70s party.

My older sister (who is EVIL) looked a lot like Susan Dey, so you can be her.

Hummmm... I'll be Angie Dickenson from Police Woman: very sexy (good enough for Frank Sinatra) and she carried a gun and wasn't afriad to use it!!!

How about you, KC? 1970s female television character?

MM

In my defence, I was 10 when I fell for Donny - it was a short phase, promise! Agree, Bowie is fab, and I remember that song too, I used to make my little brother act it out using Dad's motorbike helmet... lol!!! Hunky Dory is my fave Bowie album.

@ Mel, I never was mad about the Jackson 5... but now can see what a genius he was. Leif Garrett was on the radar, remember him being a Jackie mag pin-up but was never very sure what he actually did. I don't think he made it really over here.

Then I went punk, and that was the end of me... lol!

xxx

Character... maybe someone from Happy Days, or Laverne & Shirley, because I loved & still love the 50s retro thing. I so wanted a poodle skirt! I was deeply unimpressed with 70s style until punk came along, the 50s seemed much cooler, and the biggest poster on my teen bedroom wall was James Dean. Sigh...

My first husband had the serious hots for Angie Dickenson, so I used to hate her!!!!! Daft really, what were the chances of them ever meeting let alone her fancying him as well? At 19 though, I thought she was a serious threat to my future happiness hahahahaha

Lol, I never quite got the punk thing as by then I was 22 and a mother, so very responsible and found the whole Sid Vicious thing quite appalling :D A friend of mine, at that time, Jimmy Purcey formed a group Sham 69, which surprised me a bit because he was always a Tamla devotee. I have to 'fess that I still can't resist a boogie to the Isley Brothers & co. Was a bit of a mod/tamla/reggae girl growing up. Now where did I put my parka and lambretta??????

I love 40s and 50s fashions and would loved to have been a teenager during the rock and roll years, as per Happy Days. Big skirts and bobby socks. 40s ladies looked so elegant, considering the hardships of WWII etc. Very glam.

I bet you looked very fetching with a safety pin going through your nose KC or didnt you go that far??? x
