Hi Emma,
MFP is great once you get the hang of it- you will be fine!

Hmmm I wonder what way I can measure how many calories I burn throughout the day..........in my job I'm on my feet all day everyday, walking about constantly, lifting really heavy things, stockroom stuff, equipment surely I must burn calories doing that????

Have had 2 litres of water so far.

Anyway will make the same walk later on very briskly so will update cals burned then :)

Emma if you go into mfp your can work out your BMR based on your weight and your daily level of activity. I think it's under tools but not sure. It's really good cos you can play around with it to see how many calories you should have if you still want to carry on losing weight.....though admittedly it doesn't seem to be working for me at the moments as my weight hasn't altered by so much as a pound for a few weeks:(

Sandra that BMR thing told me I'd burn 1412 cals just by doing nothing all day????

I've read that elsewhere. If you stayed in bed all day the average person requires 1400 cals just to exist!!! Mfp has a good list of activities under cardiovascular exercise, so Emma you should find something to cover your activity throughout the day. You certainly will be using quite a few on the shopfloor as you are on the go most of the day.

Ok so on a normal day I work 10hrs, of those 10hrs I am moving constantly, I would be sitting maximum for 1.5 hrs.

So I selected walking at very slow pace (seemed best description for majority on my day even tho I run about like a lunatic and there are a million stairs) for 480 mins (8hrs) and it said I would burn 1270 calories!! Thats crazy!!!

I've read elsewhere that a "Standing" job burns about 160 cals per hour. So it should be ok to add it as you have done Even if you want to err on the side of caution you can add it as a personal exercise and reduce the cals per hour to 100.
Don't fall into the trap of feeling you want to use up all your cals!!!!! Just do that for the odd blowout.

Nope I wont. I actually dont consider it real exercise as I have been doing it everyday for 10 years!!! Still going to stick to 1200 a day to keep myself in check.

Sounds about right Emma, they say that women in general need somewhere around 1500 calories.....I 'allow' myself 1200 too at the moment but 'earn' about another 400-600 on exercise about 5 times a week, sometimes I eat it all but often I don't....but I also relax it at the weekend and eat what I want! But I've been counting it it up anyway just to see how many calories there are in my piggy-fests!

It's really good that you've got such an active job and great for keeping you toned, obviously helping with your fabulous legs! I would literally kill for them, even when I was young I had horrible legs.....nice bum though so I'm told! It had it's own fan club at school:D

Yes Sandra I think you have the right idea. I'm allowing myself 1200 if I go over some days I wont panic about it.

I honestly believe if I didnt do the job I do I would be 20 stone!! I have to say that it was really only after having my son I realised how much the job kept me in shape as I've never been in a gym in my life and used to eat whatever I wanted!!

Yep I guess it does keep me some what toned, I like my legs from the knee down lol they are very toned from standing in heels all day :) also my arms and back (if that makes sense) are quite toned as I lift constantly in work (product, equipment etc) not to mention my very heavy 3 and a half year old lol

Wish I had a nice bum :( Not a fan of mine I think I'm gonna have my mothers saddlebags when I'm older!!!

Saddlebags :rotflmao:

Oi Tanya!!! Saddlebags are no laughing matter.........I shall have to go under the knife if they do sprout lol

Oh Mary I feel your pain, sitting down all day just wouldnt work for me at all. I was still wearing my size 10 jeans right up until the day I went into labour.........it was all the sitting about on maternity leave that saw me balloon!! I just wasnt used to not moving constantly!!

haha I wasnt laughing at you having saddlebags was laughing at the word! I love it - i always say "don't cry about it saddlebags" :giggle: x

 I dont have them yet lol

Aww I know you werent hun!! It is a funny word though :D
