Dave's diary - back on plan, back on Minimins

I lost another 3½lb tonight :D:D

Takes my SW total to 5st 5lb, only 2lb off my next award. I didn't get SOTW tonight, a young lady lost 5lb! To be honest I was glad I didn't as it was getting embarrassing (last three in a row!) but as the same time I was thinking 'Oi those bananas are mine' looool. Just can't please some people eh? hehe

We had a guest at meeting tonight, her name is Shaheen and she was one of the finalists for slimmer of the year last year. She is so amazing. She has lost over 10 stone, looks incredible, and is such an inspiration for the rest of us. IMO she should have won, especially seeing as the woman who did win has apparently done nothing but whinge about it since lol (Shaheen didn't tell me that, some of our other ladies did). Seems I'm not the only one who's hard to please hehe

I'm off to bed in a mo, as I need to get up quite early to get up to Gillingham to visit this gym. Haven't been to one in a very long time. Ultimately I want it for spin class, which is done by cyclists specifically to target cycling muscles/fitness/stamina, but may also use the other facilities as it is all free as part of the membership.

I've got nothing to lose but my weight :)

Good luck with your WIs this week ♥

Hi all, hope you're well and staying focused while life's distractions (and cookies) pass you by ...

I went to the gym yesterday, and OMG that place is amazing!! It was like the bridge of the Enterprise, so many machines of each type, all linked to one another with a computer. You could also attach your iPod or if you prefer you can just plug in your headphones and listen to the feed from one of the many tv channels that were showing. There is also a pool, saunas, jacuzzi, incredible place!! Here is a link for anyone who is interested : http://http://www.roko.co.uk/gillingham-gym/welcome-to-roko-gillingham.html

I have been very fortunate and gotten myself free membership until the end of April. It is very expensive and not easy to get to, but if I love it as much as I suspect I will and we can afford it I will consider taking on the membership properly. Definitely gonna enjoy it until then though :)

We had Cowboy Pie for dinner yesterday (Or YeeeeeeeHaa pie as my eldest preferred to call it!). He and I loved it, but the wife and youngest not so keen. Definitely one we will have again though, even if it is only for the two of us.

I'd better get off now, trains to drive!

ttfn ♥

Yehaaaaaaaaa ! Glad you liked the cowboy pie and well done on your loss you are amazing !!

I am putting my loss this week down to the Cowboy Pie entirely! May become a regular fixture on H*Bomb menu!

well done on your weight loss again! we now have lost exactly the same! Shaheen came to our meeting this week too, she has done amazingly well and is an inspiration.

Hi all,

I'm off swimming in a minute, then lunch (something salad based probably, or maybe a Batchelor's Pasta n Sauce, or maybe all of the above!), and off to work. I get finished a little after 20.00, and then I have NINE days off WooooooDiddlyHooooooooo :)

Already got lots lined up, but still a little space to squeeze some more in.

Tomorrow we are going out for dinner at a golf club for the wife's 39th Birthday with some friends. Totally off plan of course, or should I say 'flexi-synning' hehe. I am keeping my syns down to the minumum of 5 today, and going syn free tomorrow until we get there which should cover it.

Sunday back on plan properly, and no plans other than to have a great day with the wife and kids. Maybe squeeze a family swim in there at some point.

Monday morning I am off to the gym for my first spin class. Afraid is not the word lol. I had a small light practice on the spin bikes, about 2 minutes worth, when I visited the gym few days ago. Was shattered. The class lasts 45 minutes!! **GULP** No plans for Monday afternoon, which is probably for the best lol

Tuesday afternoon is badminton, then of course WI in the evening.

Wednesday morning I have a two-hour driving lesson (first ones!), then we have to do the weekly shop. Perhaps a swim in the afternoon time dependant.

Thursday I am playing golf all day, then we have friends coming over for dinner in the evening.

Friday morning I am going to Decathlon (sports shop) with a mate to get some shoes for riding with (they have 'cleats' in the bottom of the sole to attach you to the pedals on my new bike). Then in the afternoon I finally get to collect my new bike!! At some point I really need to make some room in the shed lol

No plans for Saturday and Sunday as of yet, perhaps a couple of days to relax before going back to work. If the weather is good I will no doubt be off on the new bike somewhere, and if not I will rely on swimming or the gym. Actually, I really ought to squeeze another trip to the gym in on one of those days!

I'll be glad to get back to work, for the rest haha.

Be good to yourselves ♥

Just back from swimming, and for the first time I managed half hour of solid front crawl. I actually stayed for slightly longer to allow for the few seconds I took at each end, so I know I got half hour's front crawl in. Wouldn't have thought that was even possible just a few weeks ago, so very pleased.

I don't seem any the worse for wear for it either, so far lol

congrats on the amazing weightloss and just reading about all the exercise you are doing makes me tired :p lol, really gona try and get into exercising again - can't afford the gym at the moment but have moved the exercise dvds to beside the tv as a reminder to use them!!

Had a great evening out last night for the wife's birthday, dinner with friends at the Upchurch River Valley Golf Club.

As we were off plan for the meal, we accidentally-on-purpose had some freshly baked cookies from Tesco in the afternoon as we had both had a bit of a craving for them of recent. Whoops ;)

For dinner I had turkey meatballs in a tomatop sauce with spaghetti, cheesey chips, garlic bread with cheese and some onion rings. And for dessert (when in Rome ...) I had spotted dick with custard.

Yum. Yum. and Yum.

I weighed myself this morning, and was 2lb heavier than yesterday, which I am actually quite pleased with. I don't mind the odd treat night and associated weight increase, life is for living after all.

Back on plan this morning of course. WI in 2 days, so gotta pull my finger out to lose this 2lb again!!

I have my proper introduction to the gym this evening, am back there tomorrow for a spin class (GULP!), and playing badminton Tuesday afternoon. So may yet pull off a loss! But not banking on it.

Even a 2lb increase on WI day wouldn't worry me. It's not like I don't know why, or that I don't deserve it. But any increase this week will definitely be off again by the next WI.

Hope you're all enjoying your weekend, and looking forward to a good loss on WI ♥

Good luck at the gym! Let us know how you get on :)

The induction went very well, although in hindsight spending half hour on the cross trainer beforehand probably wasn't the cleverest thing I've ever done lol.

We spent ages chatting about my weight loss, current exercises I am doing, my back problem, then my aims/goals and what I want most from the gym time.

I have been set up on the cross trainer, treadmill, stepper, and rowing machine - all cardio, great for weight loss, fitness, stamina. Each has a programme built into it, which I can develop as time goes on.

She also set me up on two of the weight machines - one for lower back, one for upper, so I can start to build the strength up in my back without any risk of injury.

I am still amazed at the facilities there, and everything about it. I love the place!! Just a shame it is such a pain for me to get to lol.

This morning I took the plunge ... and did a 'spin' class. Spin classes, as advertised on their own flyer are " watch your fitness levels soar as we take you through varying, challenging terrains in this instructor led, non impact cardiovascular cycle class. "; And from experience I can now add to that, it actually means "You will spend 45 minutes non-stop pedalling, out of your saddle and in, using resistance you wouldn't encounter riding head-first into a hurricane, and it will be led by a masochist who loves nothing better than to make grown men cry".

My class was 0930 - 1015 this morning, it is now 2040, my legs have hurt ALL day, and OMG I can only imagine how bad they are gonna be tomorrow!!

I did enjoy it though, although mainly it was the last bit I enjoyed, where I knew it was over and I had made it lol.

I tried to phone up just now and book myself in for the Wednesday evening spin class but it is already fully booked, so I have instead opted for "body attack". Whatever that is looool.

WI tomorrow. This morning I was still 0.75lb heavier than I was last Tuesday. I reckon this is mainly down to what I ate Saturday evening, and partially due to the increased exercise and I guess muscle development I have had this week so far.

I would love a STS tomorrow, but I look destined for an increase of some kind. I can cope with that though, as I know the likely reasons, and can get back to losing again from the following week.

I still have badminton tomorrow, before WI, so I still have a chance of showing a loss!!

WOW you are being so adventurous with your exercise.

As for the scales showing an increase at the moment, intense new exercise can cause your muscles to retain water (won't be new muscles just yet) but up your water intake and it will settle down again.

Good luck for tonight's weigh in

Teresa

Well I am knackered just reading your post lol.
Good luck tonight!

Good luck with body attack! I've heard that it's pretty intense. You sound so motivated, well done you (in a completely non patronising way of course!). :)

I got a STS at WI tonight, thought I may have managed 1lb loss but the scales didn't agree. It's not that I deserved a loss after Saturday night, but it would have been good. I'm glad I didn't put ON weight :)

Tomorrow morning I have my first driving lesson in over 13 years - it's time to get my licence back!! Then I have the weekly shop to look forward to, and of course after dinner I am back up to the gym again.

Good luck for everyone else still to WI this week, hope the Gods of the scales are kind ♥

What an amazing day!!

Started off with a two hour driving lesson, my first since losing my licence about 4-5 years ago. Loved being back behind the wheel again. It went ok, though obviously I was quite rusty to say the least. Not too many bad habits (not too bad really considering I was driving for eleven years before I had my break). Have been told to put in for my test early April, gives time for a few more lessons in between.

Then it got better ...

My bike has been playing up for ages; Gears jumping or missing entirely, brakes not working at all, but also rubbing when I don't want them on, and just about everything else that can go wrong! Didn't really want to put it back in the shop for a service as it means doing without it for a few days, and I have been using it a lot for the gym. So, and I promise I am leading somewhere hehe, I used a bicycle maintenance book, YouTube, and my friends on Facebook for advice and guidance, and I finally at the tender age of 33 worked out how bike gears work and adjusted them up perfectly. Brakes too. And I also changed my slick-ish road tyres back to the nobbly ones it first came with. I'm off to Bedgebury next week for some fun riding off road on all the trails there through the forests! And of course I am collecting my new bike this Friday which I will be using for road riding. All good :)

But then my day got even better again ...

Went up to Roko gym again. I had booked in for the Body Attack class which I am now certain was designed by sadists haha. It is an hour of dancing about a bit and doing LOADS of cardio exercises. But I arrived about 90 minutes early - trains were playing up so decided to leave as soon as I was ready in case I got delayed en-route. Of course, my train was on time lol. So I did over an hour in the gym on the rowing machine, cross trainer and running machine - BEFORE doing the fitness class!! And STILL I kept up with everyone, and even outlasted those that flagged. I can't believe how fit I am, was hardly puffed or tired all the way through it, so happy :) Of course, I cycled to and from the gym too about 15-20 mins each way so plenty of exercise tonight.

I am playing golf tomorrow, my first round since last year. I wonder what kind of state I will be in after my exertions this evening, but I also wonder if being about 5½ stone lighter and much fitter than last time I played will improve my swing. It couldn't make it any worse ;)

Then my golfing buddy and his family are coming over for dinner.

And dinner is my favourite SW meal ... Quorn balti!!

Carlsberg don't do 36 hours, but if they did ... ♥

Hope you're all ok, in full possession of your mojos, and enjoying your Slimming World days. TTFN :)

Had a great day out on the golf course, feeling VERY tired I think due to doing so much so I will be off to bed shortly. I am worse at golf than ever haha, but had a great time. I need to reassess my swing as it still wants to go around my belly, which is no longer there!! Maybe time to invest in a few lessons?

I am up early tomorrow as I up to the gym again for another spin class. Still not sure why I would want to put myself through that again, especially considering how much I ache already, but no pain no gain!! I am back to work soon, and it will be much trickier to find the time to get up there.

Tomorrow is payday, which also means it is the day I can collect my new bike :)
