Daz FINALLY has a food diary

How old is it? £60 isnt bad if its in good nick

I had this argument about the actifry. Could I warrant spending that amount of money on one for it to sit on the worktop they take up a lot of space. How often would you use it, I know you can do other stuff apart from chips and roast spuds in it. I dont think id use it often enough for that amount of money.

i would use it, for chips if nothing else, i really am not impressed with the chips in the oven. The only other option would be to go with oven chips and syn them. But i would cook a bit in it i think. But without having one i dont really know. I could sell my halogen oven and brand new unused deep fat fryer to pay for a new one. And i have the room now i have done the kitchen.

Worth a try Daz and even better if you can sell stuff to pay for it. The roasties are apparently gorgeous in it

i think you have just made my decision for me. I wouldn't use it for spuds, i make them just as well in the oven, cooking under a racked piece of meat. And it was pointed out last Sunday that half of the spuds had been cooked in the halo and the others cooked with the lamb. They weren't exceptional. (still nice mind). I would be buying it just to cook chips. Think i would rather accept the syns and go with frozen chips.

Exactly my thoughts when I said I couldnt warrant spending that amount of money

I shall have to find something else to spend money on now though. Lol.

Right, time for bed for me, if only to watch a bit of television when i get there mind. Sleep well.

Morning Daz hope you're well?
Just putting my two penneth in re the actifry.......I wouldn't be without mine now despite the initial cost, it actually works out cheaper yo run than having the oven on to do chips ( and the Chips are amaaaaaazingly good in it) my OH won't have them from the oven but he loves these just spray with frylight and away they go!

im glad im not so fussy, i will eat a chip for it being a chip, as long as it is cooked that's all that matters to me. Ok so they are not the best chips being done the sw way, but, and i haven't worked it out, yet, the amount of money to be saved, cooking in an actifry as opposed to using an oven, i am thinking it would take years to recoup the cost of the 120 quid actifry. No, unless they come down massively, or i can find a really cheap second hand one, i will not be buying one.

That being said, perhaps if i seen one demonstrated, and it could do some amazing things that i cannot do with an oven or pans, hob, grill, combi microwave, etc, then i may consider it. :D

Morning Daz. well done on your sts :), I hope you manage to get below 170 next Friday, I'm sure you will. How are the meals going with the fakeaway book, cooked any new ones recently ?

Im getting annoyed again Kay, the scales, yet again, are bang on 170 this morning, its a constant. I even used the wii fit to double check, and its correct. No matter what i do i cannot get below 170. I am starting to seriously consider if there is a level at which someone will never get below. Im not to the point of giving up but ****** it is getting to me a bit now.

Had the doner meat last night, with sw chips and garlic mayo, was really nice. Done the ocean burgers but ive had to mask them with a home made marie rose sauce, wont be doing them again.

Wow doner meal sounds lush ! I know it must be frustrating not going below 170, I've gone back and forth around the same weight too (you and me are not that far apart), this week I was 3lb up because I had a huge family dinner on the weekend so was expecting a gain. But what I did to get under 170, I increased my superfree, so bit like success express. I know you mentioned in an earlier post that it's not been a focus for you but you do it as you go along, but why not give it a try just as an experiment, over a week, to see if it gets you under 170 ?

I know you've already worked on portion control and the number of cooked meals in the day, take this as one last thing to do, add more fruit and veg to every meal. I also started working on 10 syns a day rather than 15. I don't deprive myself, if I'm going out and need 15 then I use them, but when I don't need them I won't have them for the sake of, I find I'm ok with 10.

I know its different things for different people, but thought it might be worth a try since we're both around the same weight range. I only recently managed to get under 170 and thought I'd share what I did :) .

Thanks Kay, but im ok with what im doing ta. Really do not, and will not, keep sacrificing more and more just to lose a couple more lb. The beer drinking factor is really helping my belly reduce now anyway, and that has been the main focus, getting slimmer, no so much lighter. Im just annoyed that it seems that the belly is shrinking but the weight is not lowering, cannot get my head around it.

As for the syns, i already work on that concept, 15 max, not make sure i have 15 per day.

That's great Daz, glad you're going with what works for you, I never believe in doing something to get from A to B, because then when you resume back to normal it all comes back on, the changes I have made are the ones I am comfortable with and know I will be consistent with going forward. I think the beergate that happened was probably the reason for the fluctuations you were having, I think moving forward that has helped with the inch losses which is fab. There are so many other factors to consider other than the number on the scale and inch loss is a great one and very rewarding too. However I know you still want to see the number on the scales go down ...

I know in your earlier food diary before November you were only having one cooked meal and I know now sometimes your getting two, how do you feel about going back to one or do you think that's unreasonable ? Or maybe one should be a dinner sized portion and the other a smaller one ?

Kay, this is old ground, i have sorted myself as far as what i am doing food wise, and as for the beer, it was 20 years of drinking myself to a belly while running pubs, not a recent factor.

As i say, i am happy with how i am doing things, just a little annoyed about the slow down. That i am sure could be due to the fact that i am now back at what i was pre the stroke and so is not as easy to shift as it was beforehand. But i will get on top of it as i am, no need to modify anything else.

Thanks for your input.

Okie tokie, input is over lol, was trying to help :), hope you have a fab loss on Friday Daz, enjoy the rest of your Sunday :p.

It wasn't photogenic, as i say, i am no professional and a bowl of chips mayo and doner meat would not have made it look as good as it tasted. I only take pics of food that i am proud to show off.

Ok Daz, glad you enjoyed it that's more important than how it looks. I think its something I will try in the future if Sheila gives it the thumbs up as well then that's 2 of my friends recommending it. Did you do the Cajun style chicken ? Oh no have I missed that in a previous post ... why do I feel I'm going to be told off now lol :D

I don't tell people off Kay, just stand firm on my outlooks.

Funnily enough im literally just looking at the recipe for the cajun chicken, i have 2 fillets roasting on some chopped peppers at the moment, and seeing about cutting the cajun ingredients in half to do the other 2 fillets i have defrosted. Im ahead of myself though as i still have half of the doner, 3 ocean burgers, the roasted fillets, and now the possible cajun fillets, to get eaten before losing the food. I need to stop getting excited by the recipes and taking food out of the freezer too early. lol.

As for the doner, it will be good later, im going to try some home brew, sod the weight. lol.
