Daz FINALLY has a food diary

Im keeping positive in that i had gained after the weekend so in effect i lost 4 lb roughly, just not from what was declared last Friday. If that makes sense?

Made the ocean burgers today, had them with sw chips and mushy peas rather than in a "bun" (more like posh fishcakes) but im not a great lover of fish anyway and it was a bit much for me. I think if there was more spices and that to mask the fish taste a bit more then they would be fine. Doner meat in the tin ready for cooking tomorrow. Shall do some fries and garlic may along with salad. mmmmmmm.

It does make sense :) Im just hoping by weds Ive done enough getting back on plan after bread overload yesterday eeekk. I know it could have been worse but I just cba and thats the way I woke up feeling.

Im not a massive lover of fish either, I have to fancy it before I can eat it so I wont be making any of the fishy stuff for me, OH wants a couple of the prawn dishes.

I will however be making the Doner kebab even if I have to eat it all myself lol. Your well prepared for tomorrow good on ya. Ive asked OH twice if there is anything he fancies over the weekend out of the Fakeaway book but at the mo hes too engrossed in a wildlife prog so he will get what hes given pffttt

Treat him to the beef szechuan.

There was a bangers and mash recipe on Facebook the other day that looked really good.

Both look good and he would eat both - I think I have all the ingredients in to make the beef. Did you say you did rice with yours?

Yes, just added a bit of turmeric to the water i boiled it in. Rice is ok, i would think noodles would be good also, or even chips, jacket, mash??? Its pretty versatile.

I think I may try noodles with it as not had them for a while i'll be out and about at the shops tomorrow so could grab some. I have turmeric in too if I wanted to do rice - ive got a cupboard full of powders and potions lol never used them pre SW

Ive always had some sort of spice and herb collection but the same as you really, never used them much before now. It has opened my eyes up towards flavours. Very impressed with the szechuan, really want to try the chow mein, but am eagerly awaiting Kays "simple" Indian recipes as well.

You may have to do that one from the book for the time being until shes up and about again after her Op, then you can compare :D

Oh im in no rush, SHe says she is sorting something similar to what she has already posted here but simplified. i shall wait. If it takes 8 or 12 different spices, 5 of which i have never heard of, then i dont ever bother. I think what people in a big area dont realise is that we just dont have the shops here, either Indian supermarkets or corner shops, where its easy to source the more rarer ingredients.

I live near bigger shops and theres the Chinese/Asian and Polish shops in Newcastle but I wouldnt go out of my way to buy the stuff to make 1 meal just in case I didnt like it and then never used the stuff again

Im kind of an " ill stick to what I know" girl lol boring maybe but no waste

Oh i would have no issue, pretty much any spice has multiple uses, its just not readily available here. If we see an Indian around here they are normally on holiday. Its a pain when one needs some decent spices, lol. Vastly different from when i was in the Midlands.

I think it comes from years of not using them - the meals I used to cook were always very samey because thats what we "liked" all of it bad stuff lol.

When Kathryn was here visiting last week we went to an Indian Restaurant on the Friday night - normally I would always have the Tikka Masala (habit) but we both tried something different we had Sabjee (never heard of it before) it was chicken with a mix of Tikka and Tandoori the sauce was mostly tomato based with onions, fresh quartered tomatoes and green beans in. It was really nice but there was still quite a bit of oil in the bottom of the bowl. I would eat it again but I think id still pick my masala over it

I love chicken Tikka Masala, but i normally always end up going for a lamb pasanda. It is awesome. Its like in a pub, i love lasagne, but i always buy steak.

Im bloody hungry now. :(

Wow, doner meat from the Fakeaway book, slimming world chips, and garlic mayo (one part extra light mayo, 2 parts fromage frais, garlic granules). I feel indulged without being indulgent.

Im guessing it was fakelicious?? lol

Its the same as ever with a recipe, once you get over the fact it doesn't taste like you would buy from a takeaway (just better) then its awesome. The one thing i will do next time is try to pack it down some more so its not so "crumbly" when i slice it up.

I think ill do SW chips with mine too but buy some wholemeal pittas to use as hexb and some salad. Ive garlic mayo in a squeezy bottle so will use some syns on this.
