Daz FINALLY has a food diary

Well, i had RARE steak, seasoned with freshly ground salt and pepper, and a sprinkling of garlic salt, with some sweet potato chips, mushrooms and mixed veg. No,i wouldn't normally have veg with steak, just wanted to use it up. And i will confess to a BBQ sauce with the chips as well. Ummmm.

And, as per usual, Thursday and still i will be above the 170 lb by tomorrow morning. Been good again and yet the scales go up this morning by a lb. And i really do not see that a little BBQ sauce can add a lb.

Oh well. Failed again.

Hehe :giggle: that proper cheered me up, can we have some more please, these are really good Daz :D. xx

These are just random ones that people post on Facebook or send to me when i tell them i have lost what i have, and they need an excuse not to be able to do the same. lol.

Afternoon Daz, popping in for a review on the new machine :)

Machine is turning out to be good, worth the money, considering its a lot cheaper than the Actifry and Halo. Its got a rod for spit roasting and then a basket that fixes to the rod as well so chips etc can be done in it. From what i seen in reviews a big complaint with the other machines was the paddles breaking, this shouldn't be an issue for this one.

Did rump steak in it, as well as lamb rumps, sausages, a small pork joint, and it allows more control than even the oven does. It is basically a halogen with a rotisserie, but im happy with it.

The only down side that i have found so far is that it keeps setting the smoke alarm off, and that is with no signs of smoke or burning, so god only knows what that is about.

Silly question maybe, but could you cook butternut squash in it?? I don't really know much about these gadgets, can you tell? Lol x

To give a bit of context first, i cooked a small pork joint and roasted potatoes in it at the same time, 25 minutes and it was done. The fact it is fan assisted does speed thing up. And it is surprising how much it will hold.

It would be simple to roast butternut squash in it, just place it on the rack and bake it on a moderate temperature, but i think for best results it would be more suited to wrapping in tin foil and cooking on a higher temperature.

It is "just" an oven. One that cooks from a powerful bulb. But, it is smaller so cooks quicker, fan assisted, and has the ability to use a rotisserie, something i will be doing, once i remember to buy a whole chicken.

Oh, and you don't need to go through the infuriating concept of shaking the chips half way through cooking. AND, i did chips from spuds the other day, as opposed to frozen oven chips, no boiling, no oil, came out very well.

Good luck for the scales tomorrow Daz
Not looking good Mother. Sneaky peek when i got up, but will do it at my proper time of 9.30 am.

Thanks, I've been pondering over one for a while, but u don't think I'd use it that often to be honest. Will have another think.

Good luck for weigh in. X

I was the same but haven't used the cooker since. But then, i am single and not feeding a family I suppose.

:-( dunno what to suggest Daz I know your not happy. Just gotta keep plodding you will get there in the end - Mother says so!!

You haven't failed Daz... You've had a loss which means the scales are moving in the right direction :) xx

Nope. The battle is that i can be 170 lb or near to it, hopeful of getting under it and down to the 12 stone target (168) but ALWAYS, by the time it gets to Friday again, i am back up to anything between 172 - 175. Just really really had enough now. NOTHING is working. And I mean, NOTHING.

Have you changed anything, if not why not try changing things around a bit, different hexs, different veggies, 'if you keep doing the same things, you're gonna get the same results'. Experiment with new recipes in you're new kitchen gadget;)

Thing is we're all in the same boat, we all have times when it's sooooooooooo hard & we all have times when we feel fed up with it all, you have done so well x
