Day 3 - still going good, a few little cravings this afternoon, but nothing that made me doubt my decision once. I feel very strong and determined this time (tried many times in the past) so lets hope that determination comes from the determination I had to lose weight for my 50th birthday in August.

Food today.

Breakfast, porridge, spoon of raisins, milk.
Lunch, mushroom omelette. Muller low fat yogurt, 2 pineapple rings.
Dinner, 4 oven baked fish fingers, fat free chips, beans.

Extras.

2 cups of tea.
can of diet coke.
1 coffee.
3 glasses of water.
1 piece of sugar free gum.
3 small pieces of strawberry turkish delight.
1 pear.
1 tangerine.

Got my shakes for Monday and I have bought the NLP book as well, so started reading that too....

One word to sum me up.....diappointed ! (in me, and where I am and why I thought I could beat the disorder, but realise i cant)!!!

But, I am not down or depressed, just keeping a low profile really till I can get my head and heart in alignment...still going to health club 3-5 times a week, so at least keeping up with all the exercise.

You are doing really well Mary! WELL DONE!!!
 
Iris, all good things come to those who wait hun, at least you realise the problem you have and you are doing something about it. I am sure with your knowledge and sense it will all be sorted out eventually with some help.

Nice to see you still around and well done on keeping up the exercise.
 
How has the first weekend been then mary?
When my bf gave up he found it pretty hard whilst having a drink to not go and have a fag but he hasn't not smoked now for 2 and a half months and he feels so much better for it! :)
 
Its gone really good Tanya, but I haven't drank all week anyway, but I guess it would be harder if I was drinking.

Also I am back in work today, but I must admit, I have been eating mints today, the hard sweets in a bag, mixture of mints, everton mints, murray mints, toffee mints etc, so I must nip this in the bud before I start piling pounds on. I might bring some carrot sticks tomorrow to work to chew on instead of relying on sweets.

Well done to your boyfriend, hopefully in 2 and a half months I will be saying the same thing.

Day 4 still going good.

Todays food.

Really bad food day, but hey ho, its Sunday and tomorrow is another day. I promise to be better.

Out of bed at 4am, so I had 1 slice of wholemeal toast with a thin layer of blackcurrant jam and a cup of tea.
Breakfast, I brought porridge to work, but someone was going to McDonalds, so I had a sausage and egg mcmuffin and a hash brown, with a bottle of orange juice.
Lunch, Ryvita, beef paste, tomatoes. Yogurt and a tangerine.
Dinner, Roast beef, potatoes, carrots, cabbage, yorkshire pudding and gravy.

Extras so far.
About 14 assorted mints.
1 banana.
 
Mary its to be expected that youre going to pick at things at the minute, just untill you are fully used to not having a fag in your hand etc. I wouldnt worry too much - after all, mints are better than cigarettes!!! :giggle:
 
Day 5.

Going better today, only had 2 sugar free polos and 1 big mint.
Just gone through a craving for a smoke, which gave me the stomach wrenching pull that only a smoke would help, but I am determined NOT to give into it. Onwards and smokeless is the motto.

Day 5. Went okay apart from the craving this afternoon, but I managed to get over that and feel fine again.

Food,
Breakast, Porridge made with half milk and half water. 2 tangerines.
Lunch, 3 small slices of wholemeal bread with roast beef and red onion. 1 mulller yogurt. 1 tangerine, 1 pear.
Dinner, Roast beef, mashed potatoes, swede, cabbage, carrots, gravy.

Extras.
6 sugar free polos.
5 large mints.
1 banana.

Might have a vodka tonight, will edit if I do.

Edit to say I had 2 small vodkas.

Congrats on taking the huge step to stop smoking! I love your maintainance journal its really inspiring to see how together you are and your food choices are well balanced. Thanks for sharing. Im trying to read it all coz i tink you, jan, Iris and summergurl are amazing so reading about your experiences is amazing to me. Thanks SO much for sharing!
 
I keep watching and coming on to see how you are doing Mary!! But, no surprise to see you are doing amazingly well......it is that strong willpower you have :) :)

Aww Iris, great to see you and thank you too. Mmmm the smoking is going great, but I am picking, picking, picking too much today.

Day 6

No smoking is going great, but I am tending to pick pick pick at silly things, I need to get these 2 nightshifts over and done with and then get back on track and if I want to pick, then pick at sensible healthy nibbles.

Breakfast, 2 weetabix, few raisins, teaspoon of honey (Turkish) semi skimmed milk.
Lunch, 2 ryvita, ham, cheese slice, mayo and mustard. 1 pear, 1 tangerine.
Dinner, Fat free chips, 3 brains faggots, mushy peas, mint sauce, LF yogurt, 1 tangerine.

Extras
1 packet of sugar free polos.
5 chocolates from a tin of Roses
2 tangerines.
 
Hi mary, still doing great, well done for giving up the cough stick :D LOL. Maybe I shouldn't laugh, it must be hard. But again, well done. I wish my mum would do the same.
 
Hi Yasmine, thanks very much chick. I hope your Mum can give them up to, but its an individual choice and something that she would need to want to do. My family have nagged me for years, but I wasnt ready to stop. I have tried and failed several times, but I only ever try and give up for myself, when I want to do it.

Well done on your losses, you are going really well. How are you feeling these days? Do you still have problems with food, or have you seen the Doctor or sought any advice?

I'm good thanks, I don't feel as poorly as I did last time I did LT. Dunno why, but I'm happy.

Thanks, I am really happy that my weight loss is a lot faster this time, and I am very prepared for refeed this time, I think I really do have my head in the right place. I figured that when I go back to eating, I really do have to incorporate excersise as a part of life, other wise it'll all pile on. As for binging, I remember that I binged because I was restricting myself too much.

So the plan is to refeed for 1 month at least, after that, maintain and see how I do and if all is good I'm gonna have my weekend treat days. Hopefully, with the excersise I do during the week, on the weekend I can enjoy myself without counting calories for what I eat and then carry on healthily the following week. This should balance things out.

I didn't want to go to a doctor or anything because I wanted to be able to fight this thing myself, a doctor isn't going to stay here at home with me and show me what to do.

We'll just see how it goes when I refeed. Which by the looks of things isn't too far away :)
 
Good sensible thinking Yasmine, I am sure you can do it, you have such a good head on your young shoulders and you have been there before, so know what to expect. I agree with you on exercise, I have maintained over 7 months now, and sometimes its still like being on a diet, I cant eat this, I cant eat that etc, but I dont help myself, because I too dont exercise.

My next aim is to incorporate exercise into my daily routine and my OH is buying me a Wii and Wii fit for xmas, so I am DEFINITELY going to make a start.

Yeah, excersise really is a must. The more you excersise, the more you can eat too, not that we can do that anyway lol.

You'll have so much fun with the wii, it's a good start to get you motivated.
 
Day 7 of no smoking - going great, not had a craving at all the last couple of days. Still early days though and I have the tablets for about another 6 weeks. Going much better than I imagined.

Food.
Breakfast, 1/3 tin of fruit cocktail in juice with a LF yogurt.
Dinner, Gammon steak, peas, mushrooms, poached egg.
Supper, Chicken super noodles.

Extras.
1 Banana
4 tangerines
1 carrot made into carrot sticks
3 coffees
1 tea
3 pints of water.

Feel much better today without the polos, felt really bloated the last couple of days.

Cheers Tanya - just need to try having a drink on my 4 days off now and see how I feel then. Wish me luck, it will probably be tomorrow night.
