Ding Dong the Enemy's dead!

WAW Mary, arent you really going for it! Really pleased to see you are still beating the old fags!!!!!!! WELL DONE.

I would chop up some cucumbers into sticks, raw broccoli, peppers, etc..and maybe a little yoghurt dip to help you....esp now that you are not eating the mints. And, they are nice and healthy :) Eat as much as you like as well :)

I know when my dad stopped smoking he ate mints by the bucketload! Wonder why people go for the mints? Must be the sucking ;-)!

Anyway, just wanted to say hi and I am actually seeing light at the end of the tunnel and been on firm ground since the weekend :) :)

Take care

Cheers Tanya - just need to try having a drink on my 4 days off now and see how I feel then. Wish me luck, it will probably be tomorrow night.

Once you conquer your first night i reckon it will be a doddle for you! Have something handy like what iris suggested for when you get that urge and i reckon (well going by what me bf said) the hardest was the first night drinking - after that it was ok as :) Good luck chuck xx

Hi GUYS!!!!

I'm reading through everyone's threads, haven't got through them all yet but this seemed like a good place to interject .... where you all seem to be!

Mary .... You're doing sooooo well!! I'm so proud of you! I'll never forget how hard it was but you can't go back!! Just think you'll never have to make this decision again - never have to get through the first week again - you're thin and smoke-free all at the same time - how incredible is that??!!
You're not 'trying' to give up or 'giving up' you've done it!!! You are now a non-smoker. You knew there'd be consequences to your decision and you're coping with them brilliantly.

Be careful with the booze ..... although great if you can cope! I stayed away from that and normal teas and coffee for several weeks when I gave up because I didn't want to trigger a 'habit' craving. But we're all different and I know certain people advocate changing nothing as you'll have to cope with those situations eventually.

Just like getting the weight off though - the biggest part of the work is done in your head. And the hardest part, sticking to the decision when your head starts to try to trick you into forgetting why you thought it was a good idea to do this ...... you know what I mean.

I laughed when I saw how far you've come on in Farmville - I knew it'd be because of keeping your hands busy ..... great idea too! I took up knitting again myself ... well no such thing as facebook, farmville or minis then - more's the pity!

Keep it up girl - you can do it!! .... Well you've DONE it!!! :):):) xxx

Iris ... Really good to hear you feel you're back on firmer ground. As long as you hang on in there there's always light at the end of them thar tunnels ;) ....... Though some of them can be damn dark and too long!
I firmly believe that this site is making a huge difference to me this (weightloss) time around. Forcing ourselves to stick around and share what's going on for us helps us - and other people too. xxx

***hugs to all*** xxx

Sorry Mary, just highjack your post for a little bit :)

I have come to the conclusion that there will be lots of long tunnels, but it is how I deal with things...the NLP book is helping, although I cant do the exercises....I need someone to help push my memories, feelings out, but the actual advice is helping and mabye subconciously helping me get on firmer ground!!

SO, THANK YOU VERY MUCH

Oh, it is lovely to have you around, isnt it Mary!!

Mary

My sweetie, arent you just doing so well....like Jan said, you are a NON SMOKER now, not nearly a non smoker, but you are :) My word! Doesnt that feel good.

Actually, do you smell things differently now? I know people have said their sense of smell and taste changed completely when they stopped smoking.

Take care

Hi Iris, nice to see you around again and feeling on firmer ground. You can and will conquer those demons, just like I can with the smoking.

Jan, great to have you back, hope you enjoyed your holidays, not gone and read your thread yet, but will have a look when I finish here.

Farmville - hooray for FV, I love it and totally hooked, I want a Manor, a Mansion and lovely steps leading up to it all, I can see it clearly in my head.......lol.

Back to reality now. I had 2 vodkas tonight, but couldnt finish the second one, I had that shaky feeling again, like I needed to eat something. I think I will have to mention to the Doctors about it, as its happening very regularly now, so I think its something to do with low blood sugar. I cant eat or drink anything now since 10pm as I have a blood test tomorrow morning at 9:20, this is a cholestrol test which I have done every year, due to heart disease, so I will mention this to the nurse.

Iris, great idea on the chopped veggies rather than just the carrots. Mental note made to buy some nice picky raw veggies tomorrow when I go shopping.

Day 8, gone great, even though I had the 1 and a bit vodkas tonight, I feel really good living life as a NON SMOKER.

Foodwise, good until the last hour.

Breakfast, cornflakes, banana, milk.
Dinner, 4 fish fingers (got a craving for them these days), fat free chips, third of a tin of mushy peas left from the other day. LF yogurt and a third of a tin of fruit cocktail.
Supper, 1 slice wholemeal bread, 1 ainsley harriet cup a soup, chicken and leek flavour, 3 ryvita, cheese and red onion.

Extras.
1 and a bit vodkas.
8 squares of Tesco wholenut chocolate.
2 small pieces of strawberry turkish delight.
1 eucalyptus sweet.

You're doing really great Mary .... off to bed now before the picking demons getcha :):) LOL! xx

How did the docs go mary? Hope all goes ok :)

Oh, and welcome to the non smoking world!! It's great! :giggle:

Ditto Tanya .... hope all's well Mary :) xx

Thank you both. Docs went okay, had my blood test but she said I would have to make an appointment with the Doctor to see about the blood sugar level thingymajig, but she tested it yesterday and it was fine at 5.2.

Strange but okay day yesterday lol, not really recommended though.
Came back from the Doctors about 9:30 so had 1 slice of wholemeal toast, thin scraping of lurpak and a poached egg, cup of tea.

11am, had the remaining third of a tin of fruit cocktail in natural juice.

1pm 2 slices of wholemeal bread spread thinly with extra lite mayo, thin slices of cheese and branston pickle, cup of tea.

Then it was up to the club for a liquid lunch, I had copious amounts of vodka and 2 packets of quavers.

Came home but dont remember eating anything, but when I got up this morning there was an empty packet of cheese and onion crisps, so maybe I ate them, or maybe Phill ate them, but he is sleeping, so I cant ask him. I have been awake since 5am, so I got up to check my farmville and I did harvest all my strawberries last night (remember looking the clock and thinking, I gotta get home before my strawberries wither at 8pm - lol) but I didnt plant anything.

Smoke free again yesterday, no problems except last night at home, I was really tempted to have a smoke, but that I know was just the vodka talking - I didnt smoke, so went to bed early, approx 8:30pm. Hence the early rise today.

As I said, not a recommended day - but nice at the time.

Back to sobriety today.

wahey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thats fantastic you went out, had a few vodkas and didnt smoke!!! :D :D :D :D

Day 10 - smoke free and feeling fine.

Food, been a bit of a picky day.

Breakfast, 2 weetabix, 1 slice of wholemeal toast cheese slice.
Lunch, Bolognese without the pasta, half a slice of white bread and butter. Packet of cheese and onion crisps.
Dinner, Pork chop and scrambled egg.......what a mixture, but I just fancied this lol.

Extras
Ainsley Harriet cupa soup, thai chicken - was gross and repeated on me all day.
8 squares of tesco hazlenut chocolate.
3 Tangerines.

Ha Ha - Mary you made me laugh not knowing if you'd eaten the crisps. Reminds me of me! After times like that I have to look in the bin to see what I had LOL! I usually do remember when I see the empty wrappers ..... though not always :) Hope your head was okay. Kudos for you for not smoking - that would have helped lessen any hangover symptoms too. I think it's great you can do that so soon into your new smoke-free life. I imagine the fact that you can't smoke inside these places any more must help.

Keep up the good work kiddo! How's the weight since your hols? What are you weighing in at now? Still on the 10st 1lb? You can't be far off it. Good on ya girl! xx

Jan, weighed this morning and I am weighing in at 10st 7lb, so still that 1lb gain from the holidays, which is a 5lb gain since pre-holidays. So in effect, I have gained 1lb since stopping smoking, which is great, but overall, 5lb gain...........lol, are you still following?..........lol.

Yesterday, day 11 went great. Still smoke free and feeling great. Couple of cravings yesterday afternoon while sat at home, but nothing major. Farmville is still helping.......lol.

Foodwise, good day.

Breakfast, 2 weetabix, raisins, semi skimmee milk.
Lunch, Chicken and vegetable soup.
Dinner, Roast chicken, stuffing, mashed potatoes, swede, peas, gravy.

Extras
2 Ryvita with lite mayo and chicken breast.
(No picking yesterday, except 1 eucalyptus sweet)

No alcohol on Saturday or Sunday as I am aiming to just drink on one of my 4 shifts off.

Hmmmm you only drink once on your 4 days off ...... :giggle: hmmm LOL
