Elkays resurrected food diary

Seems alot of us have been recently. Have you come to any conclusions?

Hi Katie

Well, I'm fed up counting points and losing nothing so have decided to go down the lo-carb route. I'm keen to try this to see whether it also helps with my numerous stomach issues :fingerscrossed:
. I'm relying on the internet for info at the moment though as I have ordered a couple of books but they haven't arrived yet! To be honest, if I can feel healthy that will be an achievement as I have felt crap for a long time now - obviously losing weight would be an added bonus though!

How are you doing anyway? Are you feeling better now? I hope so.

Thanks for visiting.

Lesley

Have you tired cutting out dairy? Ive had IBS for years and since ive cut out dairy its all gone. Might be worth a go if no luck on the low carbs.

Im ok, im trying. I guess thats the best i can do! I dont want to follow anything faddy so its a bit difficult but im trying.

Morning Katie - yes, I have tried cutting out dairy, though I admit it was a few years ago but I didn't find it made much difference - I am willing to try it again though if the carb thing doesn't work. I do usually eat a lot of carbs though, so I'm hopeful it will make a difference!

Keep trying! All these things, including losing weight, seem to be working out what suits us best - it's OK going with a set 'diet' like WW, SW etc (which I know works for lots of people and has for me in the past so I am not knocking it) but we are all different and even within those diets, it's still trial and error working out what we can and can't eat and still lose weight - for example, when I went to a WW class I would hear people say 'if I eat bananas, I don't lose weight, or 'I don't lose if I eat bread' or at SW, 'if I eat too much pasta, I gain' - well why, if it's within their points, allowed food etc? - it means there is still an element of working out what suits your body and what doesn't even when sticking to a diets 'rules'. I would assume that it will be the same with you now you are vegan - trial and error seeing what works and what doesn't. Even if it takes a while, it will be worth it if you happy about what you are eating and can lose some lbs too:D. Good luck with it!
Sorry, this reply turned out longer than I intended!

Have a great weekend.

Afternoon Lesley

Everything looked okay on the menu
for yesterday hun
how are you feeling today ?

Big hug

Evening Kals, hope work is going fast for you tonight. Phew, glad the food was OK, thank you for taking a look for me - it's taking me a while to get used to what foods are OK and what's not. Feels odd not counting points/calories but so far I have loved not having to and I have just eaten enough to fill me without feeling stuffed and not felt at all guilty if I've needed a small snack later. :)

I have definitely not felt so bloated today thanks Kals, just waiting for the rest to subside! Back to drs next week so we will see what he has to say.

Have a lovely Sunday.

Morning Lesley

How are things going with you
hope you are having a good week

Hi Kals - things aren't too bad thank you. How about you? No bread, potatoes, rice, pasta, noodles or sweet things have passed my lips so far this week and I haven't really felt hungry at all, which is good. Will be interesting to see what the result is on Friday - if it's another STS you'll here me screaming from down there!

Enjoy the rest of the week.

Ah thank you for the lovely comments Kals. I have you to thank really you know - so, a big massive :thankyou:. (Hope it's not just a one off!) I'm not really sure exactly what plan I have followed this week, whether it's low carbs, GI or GL!! Probably closest to the Nigel Denby GL diet but it doesn't feel like a diet 'cause I've not weighed anything or really took much notice of portion sizes so I might have to watch this. Anyway 2lbs off is like a miracle for me lately so I'm happy with that.

Have a nice day and a lovely weekend (if ever it stops raining)

Thanks for all your help and support.

Your welcome Lesley

They more or less tell you that you don't need to worry about portion control
as the body burns the fat off for fuel as it doesn't have any carbs to use
the only thing to watch for is if you do up your carb intake it can make you gain
a bit rapidly
I think once your off the carbs though, you feel really awful if you do have a carb binge
