Em's diary

Thanks mouse, I'm so looking forward to it. Sod the cossie, I was happy enough in a bikini a couple of years ago 2 or 3 stone heavier, and I'm on the case with daily midsection toning now, so hopefully 9 weeks will be enough time to improve it a bit!

I think you should defo go for it with the pool, I agree with Jo, it's only a few steps to get in the water then you'll be fine. You're getting well skinny now - why should you miss out on the fun? I think it seems worse in your head now than it will be at the time :)

Thought I'd do my menu early as we're out tonight and I've already decided what I'm having. Normally I wouldn't be going out, but as I booked the office xmas meal I've a gift voucher for the same restaurant for £60 which expires tomorrow, so I'd hate it to go to waste. Anyway I'll be sticking to water/diet coke and driving us home after.

B: half cinnamon galette
L: 100g meatballs, 2 slices roast beef with french mustard
S: rest galette
D: moules mariniere, followed by fillet steak (no sauce) with a king prawn skewer and steamed broccoli.

well the meal tonight was really beautiful, though the mussels weren't dukan friendly i'm afraid but they were delicious. not sure what would have been a better choice, but i didn't eat the bread they came with. also requested broccoli instead of the chips and eschewed the sauce and desert as well, finishing off with a skim latte. all in all could have been much worse, but will brave the scales in the morning and see what damage has been done...

Think I may have dodged a bullet here, 3/4lb off this morning from yesterdays weight. Either my scales are playing tricks on me or the meal last night wasn't as bad as I thought it might be. Will find out tomorrow if it's a blip I suppose...

Well done Em!

Mmhh that sounds delicious and well done on a really Dukan friendly meal out as well!
Your scales did not deceive you I'm sure.

I'm so pleased for you, cos you made the effort to choose as well as you could and were recompensed...

<don't tell anyone but I sometimes find that, a richer than usual sauce - like with marinières - can help with transit too... and, let's face it, any cream or butter in with those mussels made it an Atkins meal :D>

<even mushroom omelette has had that effect on me - if not prepared by my fair hand, my body doesn't hang onto it for long quite often...>

Suffice to say Jo is correct re transit, which I'm sure is responsible for the happy scales this morning. Not to be repeated but nice to know good decisions can pay off!

<Jo's always right...>

Cheers everyone, would be nice to have a bit more come off this week. Made 500g x lean turkey mince into 6 meatloaf muffins when we got in last night, so for the record, and the next couple of days 1 meatloaf muffin = 83g uncooked turkey weight (thinking of you here dd!)

B: half cinnamon galette
L: 1 meatloaf muffin, 1 fillet smoked mackerel
S: rest galette
D: 2 meatloaf muffins, 65g smoked salmon

I weigh everything, as you two do, then often my OH will pinch a cube of something off my plate to taste... plays havoc with my measurements!

Em - posted on my diary about book mooching! excellent system!

oh, don't do it DD, it would be the end of you!!!

I'm fessing up now. I'm hosting a dinner party tomorrow, and have been starting my preparations tonight. 2 of my guests don't really know I've been on a diet so I wanted to create a menu that I could eat, but would still be posh dinner party food (I have a reputation as a good cook that I want to uphold) so I've come up with the following menu:
Homemade leek and butternut squash soup (theirs with a dollop of creme fraiche, mine with a dollop of quark) served with homemade bread which I won't eat.
Beef bourguignon with celeriac mash (I'm cooking this tonight and then chilling overnight so I can take off the layer of fat from the top) which is kind of the naughty bit, as there's quite a bit of wine in it, but with a total of 4 hours or so cooking time the alcohol should have all evaporated right?
Banoffee cheesecake with a toffee pecan sauce (which I obviously won't be eating - will proclaim fullness at this point!)

I'm pretty sure I can avoid the booze too without arousing suspicion, but thought I'd better fill you in on the plans...

Today's been a long one, and I'm glad we're at the weekend, especially as I'm excited about tomorrow - I love hosting parties, and we don't do a lot of it, so I'm hoping my food goes down well.

For today:
B: half cinnamon galette
L: 80g ish smoked salmon
L2: 1 meatloaf muffin, 1 fillet smoked mackerel
S: rest galette
D: about 150g smoked fish assortment (mackerel, tuna & salmon)

Not well planned admittedly, probably a bit too much fish there, hope I don't pay for it on the scales tomorrow!

Jo - thanks so much for the tip about the book mooching, I've signed up today, and will be sorting through more of my old books now, amazing info, I'm so grateful!

Excellent dinner party plan, Em. If I were a non-Dukan guest, I wouldn't notice anything out of the ordinary. I think that it should work perfectly, whilst still upholding your culinary reputation! :)

Good luck. Looking forward to hearing how it goes.

Have a great dinner Em; celeriac mash really is my favourite thing ever, even better than celeriac chips! I just add a little skimmed milk, lots of pepper and an egg and blitz. Bloody lovely!
