Wow that's amazing hun!!! Shows that you've really got into the zone to have got such a brill result!! I'm a bit of a fish fan lol!! I go through phases of the tinned fish though and I do like the ones in a sauce and some of them are really low or free!! I bought the mackerel in hot chilli dressing the other day though and was shocked to see that it's 6 syns!! So I may have to push that one on the other half!! I swear that my skin improves when I'm eating oily fish though!! Give it a whirl and see what you think, but on the other hand there's no point in eating it if you simply don't like it!! I never understand why people force themselves to eat things they don't like - no wonder they give up on 'diets'!!

Thanks for the compliments on the food diaries and also saying that I'm inspirational hehe!! I'm just a normal person who is a piggywiggy around food and struggles like everyone else here!! The only thing I can say for myself to explain how I managed to succeed is that I have just kept on going and tried not to let the gains and the disastrous weeks throw me too much!! It's just been a matter of plodding along really!!XXXXXXXXXXX

Food is looking good there Hev

googled the car I like it ;)

Hi hun, thanks very much re the food diary (there were a couple of choccies sneaked in though tehee!!) and also the car!! I'm LOVING it!! I've always seen cars as purely functional, getting from A to B 'things', but actually I'm thinking 'Queenie' does have personality!! How sad am I lol....?!!X

Hope you're enjoying your weekend!! Night shifts over now so I plan to do some MAJOR chilling out!! I'm currently knitting a jumper for the teddy I knitted for my friend's baby (he'll be 18 by the time I've finished it!!) I'll post a pic when it's finished! I'm new to the knitting lark so it hasn't been plain sailing but I'm learning loads!! X

Evening chica. Thank heavens your night shifts are over and you've got a few days respite.

Can I ask a question about your car? Don't answer if you don't want to publically. Possibly send me a PM?
You say that you "lease" it. What does that cost? What does it cover? For how long? And do you ever own any of it?

Might be just the solution for my mum. Who is obviously getting older and doesn't want to buy again.

Hi Bev,

Yes I've been 'leasing' cars for over 6 years now- The Juke is my fourth! Basically it's just like hiring a car but for a long period, usually 2 or 3 years! You never own it, but because of that you don't 'own' the depreciation or the problems that come with cars!! The philosophy is 'if it appreciates, buy it, if it depreciates, lease it'!! I know by doing it this way I'm always paying out, but many of my friends have loans for cars anyway so they never really own theirs as they're looking to change them after they've paid off the loan anyway!! Either that or they have older cars and they're paying out left, right and centre on having things fixed etc!! I live in the sticks so reliability is everything, and I'm the kind of person who gets bored easily and likes changing my car!!

I've always used the following website (see link) which is a comparison site listing hundreds of cars and hundreds of lease companies. It's good to be open minded about the type of car you want because the special offers vary! I got an excellent deal on my Juke when I signed the contract a few weeks ago, but the price has gone up a bit now, and it could go up hugely in another few weeks, whilst another model of another make may come up as a great deal!! They change constantly, depending on the stock levels held by different dealerships!

Basically I'm paying £191 per month (incl VAT) for 2 years. I had to put down £1150 deposit and then there will be 23 payments of £191. The inital payment varies- This is the first time I've had to pay such a hefty deposit though- I've noticed that a lot of the deals are now on a 6+23 month, or 6+35 month basis, whereas they were all 3+23/3+35 deals when I previously searched for cars! In theory the more deposit you pay the less the monthly payments are, but I'm not sure that this is always the case!! Tax is included in the price- they send tax discs through the post. You have to pay for tyres and services, and insurance as you would if you were the reg. owner. I also have a 10, 000 mile per annum restriction and I pay a few pence per mile if I exceed it! Dai also has a lease car and he requested a 15, 000 limit as he does more mileage than I do. So this obviously alters the price. I noticed that some companies were offering reduced prices for cars on a 5-6,000 mile basis (good for elderly people who don't go far!!) They do a credit check and also ask for bank statements when you apply.

Hope this is helpful to you hun!! It suits me perfectly- there are so many ways to get cars, and I've come to realise there is no cheap way!!XXX

http://www.contracthireandleasing.com/

Tip- select 'personal leasing' and all the prices displayed (in red) will be inclusive of VAT.

Having a quick peek I see that there are some good deals on small cars such as Fiat 500, Citroen C1 and Kia Picanto at the moment- less than £150 per month, with varying mileage restrictions and varying deposit payments X

Thanks Hun, the odd thing about me and fish is that if someone else cooks it I love it, got some more sardines and mackerel, I had planned on making paul some smashed up roasted new pots with the mackerel or sardine mixed in, think I will taste a bit and see how I feel. Same with tuna - before I had the kids i had tune everyday now i can't bear it

I think that's why I find you so inspirational you are just such a warm genuine real person, with struggles that we can all relate to (well apart from night shifts!)...your diaries remind me that I can eat food and that the key to success is to eat well and enjoy a new relationship with food

Thank God your night shifts are over, enjoy what is left of your weekend, donna x

Thanks for the info Hevs - I'll have a good look in August when it's time to re-insure mums car and possibly change it.

How did night shifts go? They must be sooooooo hard. But take it you have a few days off now.
Taking mum back to the airport and then we havae a few days off before heading back to the UK next Friday. Did you have any luck with swapping shifts on SUnday 29th so we can meet up? But a problem if you didn't as I will deffo see you in Barca . . . even if I leave the old man at home!

I do exactly the same with my car Hev and it also means you never have to do an MOT as I usually keep mine for 3 then back it goes and I get a new one
Mines a Kia Picanto <3

Aww thanks again for the lovely comments!! I'm not great with compliments *blushes*!! But yes you can DEFINITELY eat food- lots of it!! Which is why I love it, because I'm a born guzzler!!!

Yeah night shifts can be a bind and do play hell with your body clock but I actually quite like them- although we can still be flat out, there's a calmer atmosphere than on days, probably due to the lack of people- doctors, physios, xrays, visitors etc etc- depending on who's in charge, they tend to be more laid back, and the best thing is it's time + 30%, so I try to do 6-7 per month.

I'm going to go and visit your food diary now so it had better be in tip-top condition lol!!!XXXX

Which company is yours through Kally? Are you pleased with your Kia Picanto? I honestly don't know why more people don't do it considering how much cars depreciate! In America and Switzerland apparently it's very popular!X

Hi Bev- yayy night shifts over (until next Thurs!!) They went OK thanks! I don't really mind them as I was just explaining to Donna! It's just the adapting back afterwards and also the fluid retention is really annoying, regardless of how much water I knock back- I still feel all bloaty for a couple of days and it does affect my weight unfortunately- that's why I don't like working them at weekends, but that's usually when I end up doing them!!

Re Sun 29th- I'm afraid I'm a night shift on the Saturday and it doesn't look at all good swapping with someone I'm afraid!! I'd have to have a good sleep on the Sunday and driving to Brizzle would be a bit much unfortunately!! Have a wonderful time in Blighty though and do let me know when you're next here! If not, Barca is definitely on the cards so we'll keep in touch (obviously lol!!)

I'm glad things have gone OK with your Mum and enjoy the peace and quiet for a few days before you travel again!! A chance to be angelic on the food front too I hope!!!! Hehe!! XXXXXXXX

I'm not 100% sure of the company as I leased the car so long ago the first one was a Citreon Saxo and I think the leasing was done through there company...I then got the C1 which I hated and we parted company asap and now Kara the Kia as she's called at home lol
I adore her :giggle:

Mon 23rd April 2012.

Not very 'on plan' today I'm afraid!! Weigh day and the day consisted on snacking and lots of bready things, but calories wise probably not too bad!! I lost 1/2 lb anyway so everything's just fine!! On plan properly tomorrow!!

At home (evening)- A tin of Asda Good For You carrot & coriander soup with 2 slices wholemeal bread. An individual strawberry cheescake!

Milk in tea/coffee (part HEXa).

Even though the food doesn't look horrifically over the top (a few naughty choices though), totting up the syns it's probably not far off 60!! Frightening really!!!
