Janey - at the gym the only things I go on are the treadmill and the cross trainer so any movement where your hip is making the pedometer register get counted - as far as I am concerned the cross trainer is harder work than walking so I am gonna flipping well wear it LOL. But - as you can see from yesterdays figure of 12,000 I didn't go to the gym so they were all walking steps, it was a good day steps wise. I walked into town, and I walked down to school and back. 10 minutes of ordinary walking gives me about 1050-1070 per minute, but at the gym that shoots up to 1120-1170 dependent on speed on treadmill

Oh yes, definitely much harder work!! I think I might need to do this!! :D:D

Whats a spinning class? I've only ever heard Americans talk about them

Its done on a stationary bike, but its a different shape and mechanism. You have to get your body into a certain style to do it properly, but its effects are so well worth it. My instructor used to do the classes to garage music or the chemical brothers/fatboy slim genre, so it was paced quite fast. Other instructors just didn't seem to match up after that! Great cardio, and if I could get a decent spinning bike here I would plug in my ear phones and be off!
 
I have tried a spinning class twice, and both times it has killed me and I have only been able to do about three tracks! I think I need to increase my stamina.

I'm signing in for today because I am going Greyhound Racing tonight and have got a pair of jeans on that I don't want an unsightly bulge under!

Total: 13,849 including 7,314 aerobic steps (68 minutes). I walked into town and back again, then took the car home and walked down to school and back, it's been a lovely mild day again today.
 
Yo Yo, you are still doing so well! They are building a 'state of the art' gym/leisure centre by us, so when it opens you ahve given me the incentive to go. When I lived in the USA I belonged to a gym, and went most days to use the elliptical trainer and go to spinning classes on a bike. Nothing like that here unless you join for 2 years at e phenominal cost, also no spinning.:mad:

I love my gym once I am there, I don't look forward to going, but it feels so good to be nearing the end of your workout and you're all sweaty and your pulse is racing and you know you have just burnt off your dinner! (remind me of this when the novelty wears off in a few weeks LOL I know what I am like!!)

Today was 7163 steps. :chores016:Only walked the dog once, but I went the slip slidey way so I felt like I burnt off a few more calories. I went into town to look for a book and clocked up 2498 steps, thats great for an hour or so perusing! Friend noticed I have lost some more weight since I last saw her a week ago! Weigh in tomorrow......was going to be 3 days early but that got changed. Good for me, not so good for the CDC. Don't feel any thinner though!:(

I am decorating today, most of downstairs to do. I've half term off so I guess it will take up most of that. Hubby will be doing our neighbours fence I suspect, so I will still be 'doing the dog' in the afternoons!:chores016:

Slowly but surely I feel myself getting fitter and my wee Yorkie is getting so much better since she hurt her leg. She can now walk a lot further this week, still not up to very long walks as yet...but hopefully she will be back to her old self.:) Me too:p
 
Hi Steppers :)

I was digging out my understairs cupboard today and found a brand new pedometer still in it's box. Think it was left over from Xmas and possibly my Mum's but she has gone back to France now.

Anyway, decided to be patient and sit down and input the settings into it and put it on out of curiousity. I know I do a lot of time on my feet during the week but thought I would see about weekends. I clipped it on at 12.30pm and took it off about an hour ago and it said I had done 2,875 steps, walked 1.86 km and burned 167 calories.

Is this low/medium/average for about 6 hours of wear? I know that's probably a really daft question as we all have different lifestyles but I would be glad of opinions. :) I'm going to wear it on monday when I go to work and just compare the steps. Think this may just be the thing to give me that last little push back into weightloss and getting fitter.!!

Isis, welcome to this thread! No expert here, but I think they are average steps! Not up to the recommended 10,000, but that is really hard to do! It does take extra thinking and planning for me to get anywhere near that, and weekends are the most likey times that I could, cos walking around town does amount to 3-4,000 for something so simple! Look back at the other steps that MINI does for us each day.

Mini my steps today are 9,547. :chores016: done by walking the dog the long way back home! Taken MNBFoff and am going to a 70's night (my era!) so will probably dance too!

Hiya y'all - welcome Isis! My figures for today's footfall league (hah hah) are 9969 in total with 5080 of those being aerobic (48 minutes) which was a walk to eldest lad's footy training and back, then a walk down to Bradford City's stadium, and back. Hope I can get to the gym tomorrow as I need to claw some calories back and aint been since Wednesday.,
