This is what I don't get. How does smushing something up change it's nutritional value so much?! I never understand the rules :D

Syn police...love it...x

I agree
tell the syn police to beggar off

Lol. Officially - the line goes 'by smudging up something you can eat more of it than you normally would but it wouldn't keep you full as long - but still absorbing the higher calories'. An example would be a glass of fresh squeezed orange juice. You could easily drink a whole glass but probably wouldn't eat the 4/5 oranges. Same calories but less full.

And now I've explained I'll contradict myself. Helen said she had no more berries than she would have had non smushed so. I say. NO SYNS!!!!

Runs away before the syn police get me...;)

That's exactly what I think.. If I was consuming a lot more ie like your orange juice example I would syn it but I'm not going to as you've all said not too! Runs and hides before those syn police shoot me x

I never did and would never count the sys if I had the same sized portion
however its not just because you eat more of it its because you have broken down the cellulose (that which makes the cell walls) and that makes it easier to digest and you get more of the fruit sugar - however if that is the case why dont you syns blended vegge soup - so I never did and never would but I take the same sized portion

if you do it often and your weight loss stalls syn it if you need to

lovely looking food :):)

I never syn cooked fruits or the occassional glass of juice either, but there are apparently chemical reactions in some fruits (lol) that render them more calorific than eaten whole/raw, such as banana and rhubarb

I must stop hexb ing my canned prunes... X

Seems like we're all singing from the same song sheet... I so rarely puree my fruit that I won't syn it, probably won't have it again for a while anyway, was really nice though.

Dipstick here went to the doctors today and its not osteoporosis I have but psudoarthrosis! I really should take a dictaphone in with me when I see the consultant as really don't always understand what they say.

I suppose it's a bit of a wake up call though that I do need to up my calcium intake as don't want to be at risk from that in the future.

Things aren't great here, Mark and I are fine but he's really upset, Lizzi is moving to Wales, should be happy for her but don't think she wants to go, its so sad. Her husband is such a control freak, even his mum says so and she doesn't think they should go, will mean giving up her council flat, leaving her friends and family and the church, she'll be on her own with three kids whilst he is working.

At the moment she has loads of support from us all but she won't have any of that. Been really upset the last few days about it.

That sounds like a rubbish deal from Lizzie's perspective. I've worked with a lot of women in controlling relationships and essentially you and Mark just have to hang on in there and continue to be supportive. I know you both would do and you know that already, but just wanted to reiterate it's the right thing to be doing. Hopefully she will realise eventually and you will be there for her.

Honestly Helen, are you eating in a restaurant every night?! Looks like proper swish food x

Hannah beat me to that comment

but I agree food looking very S.W.anky indeed

Sorry to hear about Lizzie
It sounds like he is a right knobber x

Sorry to hear about Lizxie x I agree with the girls.

Also agree re the swish food! Yum :)

What an awful situation for Lizzie to be in
I was in a similar relationship when I was much younger thankful I had wonderful parents and I did go home for a short while with a baby
just make sure she knows she is welcome whenever she needs
its very difficult to be so far apart -
your meals as always look wonderful
H xx

Thanks girls for saying my food looks good, this is how I do my food but don't usually take photos. I do love cooking but my dream is to have a bigger kitchen.

The Lizzi situation is so hard, as Matt her brother says she always is a sheep and follows even if she doesn't want to do it. She wasn't ready for another baby but he was so they had Evie (her second, his first), she then didn't want anymore kids but got pregnant even though breast feeding so he talked her into getting married.

Although she knows she's welcome here (we did have her live here when she was pregnant with Jake as her mum kicked her out), our second bedroom is only a single room.. she has three kids! And James wants more!

Its just such a helpless situation to be in, she said to Mark last night that he will visit won't he, I just don't think she realises how rare that'll be, its a 3 hour drive each way, which although isn't massive its enough that it's going to be months between visits. At the moment he goes around there twice a week on the way home from work.

He thinks by taking Jake away he won't be able to see his real dad.. you can't run away though, if he wins the right to see him it doesn't matter where they are living.

He's not that close to his family and I don't think he likes it that Lizzi is so close to us.

What really worries me is that Jake seems to hate him, he does shout at him alot but I'm hoping its just that as Jake has drawn pictures and not put James in it and says its cos he hates him. He hits and scratches him if James comes near him and he's turned from being a lovely little boy into quite naughty, lets just hope it's his age.

Sorry that went on a bit!! X

Best let it out babe... As I have learned get it out there, people have a choice to read or not and all the lovelies on here are only too happy to listen... Awful situation... I just hope that it is the little boys age and not something more... Her husband sounds like he has some major issues he is not dealing well with... Keep your eye on the situation and if things get worse or not improve, maybe try and get someone from outside to get involved... Sounds interfering, but maybe if more people did more lives could be altered for the better... Hugs... Chelle...xx

Lets hope it is just an age thing
but I'd admit under the circumstancies
I would be worried with Jake showing signs
of not being happy....anything like that at that
age can do damage for years to come

Jake's behaviours does sound worrying. Just keep an eye on him and maybe see if Lizzie feels the same way?
