Help needed for 1st day......

Right - I am getting on this dahl at the weekend! My sw friend is coming over and we are working overtime at mine - she is veggie so this will be a good test lol. What do you normally eat it with?!

Ahh I love SW chips so much!! I didn't end up working that late and having my couscous and salad. I'm tempted to save it for lunch tomorrow and make a jacket potato or some chips for dinner when I get home. I still have a hexa to use so I could do cheesy chips lol!! Or maybe an omelette and chips as I have a ton on mushrooms to use up!! Think that's a plan!!

EE day for me tomorrow as its steak and chips night with bf's dad. So i will have a jacket potato and butter again (SO worth the syns).

I have bought some Alpen light (on sale in tesco), weetabix oaty's (poundland) and some Special K things (on sale in Iceland) so it was a good shopping trip lol. I also picked up some more couscous things as these are a great easy thing for my dinner when I'm working overtime.

How did your WI go?! And how was dinner? I'm dying to know if it turned out ok lol. I lost 2lb this week which I'm happy with :) back on the right road again it seems :)

ah well done you! :D

i put 1.5lbs on....but i've changed my signature and it's really clear that i have one week out of 4 when i have a gain and although you know i'm always like...it is what it is cos i'm always on plan, it's made me feel a wee bit better about it knowing that all of the times i've gained, it's not cos i've done something wrong or gone off the rails and most times, i either sts or lose the following week (shudders at the thought i've tempted fate for next week lol)

the hunters chicken was really nice. i liked it much better than the pulled pork and it was the same sauce. think the difference being i put the sauce over the raw meat and cook it that way. i'd def make this again.
i've frozen the last of the sauce cos it would be ideal for that again rather than making the pot's worth but not sure what it'll be like.
the 1st time i made the sauce, i made it the day before i was having it and it wasn't nice the day after...def needs to be eaten when it's made first (in my opinion) cos the flavours change so hopefully there won't be too much damage done by freezing it?

i make my dahl and cut it up into wee squares taking a couple to work. but when i first started, i'd have some of that and the quiche with salad and sw chips for dinner sometimes. recently i've had some with salad at lunchtime if i've been off work.
haven't had the dahl on it's own with plain rice - like a vegy curry...dunno if it's too bland for that?

i just like it cos when i'm working and hungry before lunch time, it's easy to fire that into my gob and more filling than some other things....getting a bit tedious now for me but not at the point where i just can't face it...yet! lol x

Ahh that's a shame that you had a gain - but great that you have seen a pattern develop. At least you won't beat yourself up about it. I wonder if there is anything you can do to combat it? Probably just one of those things but it would be interesting to experiment with different foods.

Ooohhh the chicken sounds lovely. So it was nicer this time on part cooked meat rather than the raw pork?!?! I will def give this a try - its something I think bf would really enjoy and its hard to think of it as diet food. I'm pretty sure it would be fine from frozen as well as it should preserve the flavour.

I think ill do some nice salad to go with the dahl loaf - if it turns out ok hahaha! Thanks for the recipe :)

Ooh I'm stealing all your thunder lol. Ill have to give you some recipes in return. I had the omelette and chips for dinner in the end and it turned out lovely. I'm always nervous cooking eggs in a frying pan (I know I'm odd lol) but it was yummy! First time ever I have used both hexa on cheese and had no milk!!!!

totally get you on the frying....i just find it so hard to do with frylight and give it a miss...the chicken fried rice is a nightmare when the egg goes in.

my grill's not been working on my cooker and if it was, i'd def make omlettes cos i always used to just pour the mixture in the frying pan then once it was set at the bottom, stick it under the grill cos it saves flipping it, makes it really fluffy and of course, it stays in one piece.
should really get a new cooker but i want that and a new fridge....but i'm managing for now and i guess it's saving me eating roasted cheese pmsl!

i've been having milk more than cheese lately cos i've been having some in the rice pudding...not really noticing the difference to be honest and i've been able to have both when i've only used part of the allowance then i can have a wee babybel light or some philadelphia too,

the last 3 gains i've had, is the week before my period so maybe it's a fluid thing? i don't really feel bloated or anything but if it really is how it's going to be...then to be honest, i'd rather not get weighed lol.
i'd rather it was even 0.5 off 2 weeks in a row than a gain followed by it off again and more the next week...do you get what i mean?

all a mental thing i think but for now, i'll just see how i go and keep doing what i have been doing...i think the fact i've lost 2 stone over the last few months but yet eaten proper meals and had crisps/choc everyday is a winner...no matter how long it takes...it's realistic and of course, we all have times where for whatever reason, we can't be on plan fully...but it's easy enough to pick up where we left off not like these faddy diets where you have to go back to 3 shakes or 350 cals for the day! pmsl.

i cooked the chicken for a bit on its own then wrapped the bacon round (with some cheese under the bacon) and cooked them together. when we go back, i topped it with the left over cheese and just added a few spoonfuls of the sauce and let the chicken heat up and cheese melt.
my OH loves the pulled pork but i'm not overly keen but will def make the hunters chicken again.
it's the 1st time i've actually had it cos before, i used to get my OH the one from asda but would never have it cos i was on WW...the sauce was yummy tho so tonight it was nice for a treat for me...and a no syn treat at that!x

I still haven't tried fried rice actually - must give it a go. It's odd that I can cook pretty much anything if I put my mind to it (well except pulled pork lol) but eggs, pancakes and omelette scare the hell out of me lol. My bf is a brilliant cook but he can't cook rice to save his life...funny how we all have something that stumps us!

Id quite like a new fridge too but if I'm going to buy anything like that it needs to be an iron really as mine is rubbish recently. I'm making do as well as we haven't got the spare cash at the moment with all the bills going up all the time it seems.

How are you finding the rice pudding compared to your magic porridge?! I've never been keen on rice pudding but might give it a try the SW way.

Sounds like a your gains are a fluid thing to me hun. You could always try increasing your water intake that week and see if that helps?! I'm still doing my 2 litres a day and its helped me massively with my pre period bloat. I always get it really badly so I'm glad I've found something that's having an effect.

I get what you mean about wanting to skip a week if you are going to have a gain but it would be risky I suppose if you haven't got much will power. Once I start to skip a week is when I fall off the wagon personally. But you seem to have good will power so I think you could do it.

I've never tried faddy diets much really. I did the Dukan diet for about 5 days and hated it. Plus about a year ago I tried one where you eat like a pigeon and its meant to lose you 10lb in 3 days. Obviously that was horrible lol. It was all eggs and grapefruits and I think i lost about 6lb bit then put it straight back on once I started eating again. SW is a much better option for me.

I told bf about the hunters chicken yesterday and we are going to give it a try this week sometime. He said "how does that work on weight watchers then?!" I was like errmmm I don't know as I'm not on WW. Never have been on it lol. Non idea where that slip came from. It's steak night tonight and in going to do a roast chicken tomorrow so might do the hunters chicken over the weekend.

lol...ww...i see he's really been paying attention ;) pmsl

i hope you like the hunter's chicken, i'd def make it again.

i've never tried any faddy diet but my friend's done cambridge and honestly, it was horrendous for her. 3 cartons of this milk shake thing (tiny like the size of a carton of umbungo) and they were only 100 odd cals each. she was allowed chicken breast and green salad or veg for dinner but nothing else.
yes she lost a lost of weight...between 4 and 12lbs a week...but she was like a different person - it was actually funny cos she was so grumpy and cos it's so not like her, it was amusing...but obviously not for her.
it really had an impact on her health, she was constantly ill and of course, had no oomph to fight it...terrible!

the rice pudding's ok, it's nice warm with the raspberry yog, raspberries and banana thru it but i don't think i'd have it on it's own.
i had a tiny wee bowl this morning before i left for work then had a half portion of magic porridge when i was there but i'm wary that cos i really like it, it would be too easy to constantly eat it and although it's free food...it's also calories that i wouldn't usually have if you get what i mean.

i prob won't skip the WI but it would be easier to take than face the gain...saying that, i've never really been too stressed about it but i would be if i was staying on plan and getting one every other week!

took my soup to work today..i wasn't keen but think it'll make me appreciate my lentil soup that i've not made for a few weeks now cos i was getting sick of it.

hope you enjoy your meal tonight...how's your day been so far today?x

Well maybe you just needed a break from lentils?! It will taste much better now you are looking forward to making it again.

My day yesterday went ok (I think). The new crisps I got from the pound shop are only 3 syns and I used 3 on yoghurt. Then our boss bought a cake in for us from KONDITOR AND COOK to say thank you for all our hard work and overtime (we ended up with the result we needed last week!) I literally had the smallest piece (about the size of my phone lol) but it still prob took me a bit over syns. According to what I can find online its about 15 syns for 100g!!! Imagine how much butter and sugar would be in there!

But it's not often we get any recognition for how hard we work so I didn't feel guilty about it. I just didn't use any more syns for the rest of the day.

I've woken up really starving today and wasn't prepared very well for what day I was having. I took a turkey joint out of the freezer for dinner so will prob do a roast making today EE. I grabbed two Alpen light, some soup and some crisps on my way out the door so need to buy some fruit on my way to the office. I also took two eggs to have scrambled egg but forgot the bacon lol. Bit of a random one today I think because we had to get up early.

Bf is working across the other side of London the next few weeks which means getting up an hour earlier. It's going to knacker me out I think but it's only for a couple of weeks and I might even get a lie in on Saturday lol.

Your friend sounds like she had a terrible time on Cambridge. I don't know how people can do it to themselves. I only lasted 3 days on the ones I did and I felt so weak and tired. It's amazing how food can effect you though isnt it!

What's your food plan today?

morning...

food plan is another green one for me. already had a dollop of rice with some fruit and i'll have a wee pot of magic porridge later at work.

i'm tired again this morning but at least it's the middle of the week ;)

jealous of your cake...but a big well done for resisting...AND for not feeling guilty ;)

cutting it fine for time but will post later

have a good day x

Well I had a good day yesterday despite a binge craving!! Managed to ignore it though and just treat myself within syns to a penguin (omg it was amazing!!) and an Alpen light with my cuppa during the apprentice. Pretty pleased with myself on that one.

Today is a green day for me (working late again) so I've got Alpen light and an apple for brekkie, soup, fruit and crisps for lunch and a cheese salad sandwich for dinner. Not very exciting but all on plan - plus I've got Special K things if I need it this afternoon to keep me awake lol.

We are having a pimms party at work and I'm just going to stay for one and then do some more work in another room. Im going to try and get a can of diet lemonade for mine and have it in a glass made up instead of out of the jugs. So only 3 syns for that.

How is your day looking? Green again?

oh good for you on managing to ignore the craving you had...i hate when you feel like you just want to eat rubbish....but it's nice when you know that you managed to get passed it!

today's EE for me...nothing meaty until dinner time right enough but i took some chicken out the freezer so will think of something later and might grab a few seafood sticks for work.

almost the weekend....you got anything nice planned?x

I've got my nieces birthday party Saturday lol. It's a disco dance workshop thing do will be cute to see her and all her friends dancing about. She will be 8 so its the perfect thing for her.

Then we are going round to see bf's mum for her bday so Saturday will be busy but fun. Need to avoid birthday cake though lol. That will be doubly though at bf's mums as she bakes various cakes most days and is pretty good at it - especially her choc cake but I know she uses oil in it! Lol

Sunday I'm working from home but my friend who does all the overtime with me is coming over to mine to work too so at least I will have some company. The extra money will help as always too :)

How bout you? Up to anything nice?

Hiyas x have u tried light cranberry juice to try n ease the gain once a month just a glassful a morning helps usually a week before pmt week but as its free I have a glass a morning I know Tesco light choices are free but there's a few others too x

Have a fab day x

nothing planned really....was going to take my little one to the pictures but behaviour i'm not impressed with = little chance of that! lol x

i'm not keen on cranberry juice i'm afraid...but i'd be interested in seeing what other juices are free ;) thanks x

hey sparty...
you know that binge you had niggling away at you yesterday...you must've passed it on to me today! :(

i just want to eat junk...and a load of it! and my ee day turned into a green one seeing as i had a huge barny with my OH and didn't make dinner...it's 9pm and i've just had beans on toast...fekin great eh!

hoping tomorrow's a better day for me cos i'm off and if not, i'll be tempted to inhale all sorts of goodies to temporarily make myself feel better! lol x

There's a few light choices that are free they're on the sw syn site thingy x

Ahh no missk. I'm so sorry :(

Are things ok now?! I had a row with bf last night as well. After working a 13 hour day, I had to walk home from the station in the rain because he fell aero and didn't answer his phone. Then when I got in he snapped at me because I asked if he had saved me anything to eat (obviously he hadn't!!).

It was pretty late when I got in so I didn't have anything to eat in the end and just showered and went to bed. This morning we are both still grumpy as I'm shattered.

I haven't planned food properly today as a result so I don't know what it will turn out like really. I've brought 2 Alpen light, apple, orange, yoghurt and crisps with me so ill need to pick something up to go with it - might get a sushi tray from tesco as they are low syns and turn it into a green day. I need I eat quick when I get in so thinking spaghetti on toast or maybe some SW chips and an egg?! I can tell today is going to be tough already :(

definitely must be something in the air.
i stayed up late last night...to avoid going to be at the same time lol, then teeny was up at 4.30 and i was seeing to him til after 5. my OH left about the same time and i managed another hr before we had to get up.

i'm hungry this morning, tired like you and need to get stuff sorted at work and decide if i'm going for cheese scones cos that's what i want...that's what i really really really want...home made, from a place near by, heated up for a few seconds with butter!
not had that for months and part of me's like just get them...don't stress...maybe you just need to get it out your system...but then if i have a gain on monday (again), i'll be p1ssed off...but then again, if i have a gain and i haven't had anything....i'll be more p1ssed off lol x

Ahh god I know what you mean. It will be really annoying if you didn't indulge and didn't have anything to show for it! But you do usually lose after your gain week don't you?!

Food isn't the answer when you are stressed and if having one will MAKE you stressed then don't. If the only reason you want it is because you are angry with OH then also that's not a great idea. However, its only a one off and if you are confident it won't send you off track then have it!

I wonder how many syns one would be though? You could have one and skip your evening treats for a change just for today??

The cheese could be a hexa as well maybe?! It's 13.5 for a scone with clotted cream so this may be a good estimate since you won't have cream but will have butter?!

I've found this link for you - maybe try it on your Monday cooking day?!

http://www.minimins.com/slimming-world-recipes/241753-cheese-scones-free-green.html

I think they sound great and I have a box of smash at home so I might even give this a try over the weekend! It seems that they are good to freeze as well :) would be lovely with my soup instead of using a hex on bread!

I got some sushi for lunch but need to find out syns for it before I eat it lol

ok sooo.....
teeny went to school and i went to tesco....i wasn't sure what for...but i knew i would pass the epic cheese scone bakers on the way there...and back.
i weighed myself at tesco - which is also not like me cos you know i get weighed once a week...at class...and that's it.

anyway, scales showed 2.5lbs loss since monday which pleased me, and as i walked around tesco it kinda made me feel like ok, don't go for the scones cos it might spoil this..but then it also made me think just do it, get it out the way and have it as your "treat"

so i got some things in tesco and headed home...the whole time debating whether i was stopping off or not. i even pulled in to a layby as i got nearer cos i still wasn't sure and i was giving it some more thought...ffs eh! lol

anyway, i'm pleased to announce that i came straight home, put my stuff away and have just finished off the last of the rice pudding i had and had it with yog, banana and frozen raspberries which was ideal cos it meant little preparation.

i'll make fruit salad in a bit probably.

i'm kinda in 2 minds now whether to save my £5 a week and WI at tesco every monday morning instead of a monday night.....i'd like to see if there's any difference in the time so might go monday morning then compare once i've been to class.

this is all so not like me...i don't usually eat or want to eat when i'm stressed and never have a sneaky WI....i think the fact i had a team thing yest at work and everyone had junk while i sat there with soup got to me a wee bit...and then of course, with not eating a proper meal yest, i'm extra hungry this morning.
but the main thing is...i didn't get the scones (and i would've got 2 by the way lol) but when i collect teeny later on...it's literally next door!
but the thing is, it's always been there and i've done this well for so long....you know i'm usually great re my will power but i hate the odd blips when i'm battling against myself!

as for the smash scones...i've made them...before i started sw actually (when i was still looking over stuff to see if i could/wanted to do it)
they're ok...i didn't put proper cheese in mine and that might help if you added your HEa and def better if you had them with soup or something but from what i've read...it's seen as food abuse (aah the controversial smash lol) but ok if you're having it with something like soup cos there's lots of superfree.

maybe i'll do some today to see if it helps my epic craving....so thanks for reminding me of those!

we never make things easy for ourself sometimes eh....i'm off to have a firm talk with myself cos really, it's the 1st time in a while i've felt like this and that might be why i've taken it "so bad" pmsl x
