Help needed for 1st day......

lol the food abuse issue makes me smile...people get so annoyed about it! I guess you need to weigh up if you are using it as snacks too often and not as part of a meal. I think that would be my attitude - i.e. if i make a batch and scoff them all in an evening in front of the tv i think i would syn them (i think the thread says about one syn each). But if i was using it to dunk in soup as dumplings then i wouldn't. But i think it depends on your body and some people may be able to get away with it while others can't....trial and error i suppose.

I was planning to make a batch to try out since i have smash in my cupboard that i have no plans to use (bf doesn't like it) and i would rather give this a try then throw it out. I plan to use it to dunk in my soup and save a hex on EE days and was also thinking that i would maybe make some, cut one in half and spread a little marmite on it and top with a hexa cheese mmmmm! I was also thinking I could make some up as little balls and put garlic in them to have as 'garlic dough balls' with a spaghetti bolognese or lasagne?! Apparently they freeze ok as well.

You should def make some and have one hot out of the oven with some butter/spread on for a couple of syns and a hexa - that would give you your little treat that you did amazingly well to resist lol. This way you can do it but only use a few syns and still have some left for a little treat tonight. You did brilliantly to just come home after how much you wanted them!

This really isn't like you at all - is there something else playing on your mind and making you indecisive? And as for a mid week weigh in - dont beat yourself up about doing it but remember that it doesn't count until you are at group! The amount might not be the same on Monday so you have to just let the figure go. It's really easy to see progress on the scales as an excuse for a treat because you are showing a loss and will have time to be good before WI to minimise the effects. I would err on the side of caution and make some home made scones that you can enjoy in the knowledge that you are treating yourself within syns! (and how great will it be to smugly walk past the shop later when you pick up teeny!!!)

I think you have the will power to weigh at tesco instead of group - i dont think you would fall off the wagon. But do you get anything else out of group? Buy the books/products or like image therapy?! Because you might find that you miss these aspects?! You can buy online memberships but I don't know how much they are and that still gives you access to the syns online etc so maybe think about that as well.

I need to make some soup up this weekend so need to get a BNS for that - I must remember to pick up some mint too. (although I have dried mint.....would that work i wonder?!) I am thinking of making lasagne/spag bol tomorrow night and a roast sunday so a couple of EE days for me.

I seem to be doing more and more green these days so need to plan out some red days for next week!

i've private mailed you....puleeeeze tell me it's worked after typing it aaaall out???x

and i've just done some of the smash scones...did half the recipe and got 6 bigger ones out of it...eating 2 hot just now and have a bowl of fruit salad ready to have afterwards for superfree...thanks again for reminding me about these...they may not be the baker's specials...but they're going down a wee treat and you should def make some to have with your soup ;) x

it worked hun

I think i might do half the recipe first to see if i like them before spending money on stuff to find out they taste like cardboard lol.

I got the sushi for my lunch and its only 3.5 syns so happy days for me! I'm having this plus my usual and then off to the shops for scone stuff! So glad I found this - its been ages since i was eager to try out a minimins recipe - and i owe it all to you and your cake shop lol!

lol...you owe it all to me and my ridiculous moment of despair you mean? lol

i can't tell you how yummy they are though...i'm def going to get some another time...but glad to say it's not today and when i do get them...it'll be when i'm NOT in an insane state of mind hehe

they're not like cardboard but def better hot.
you could do half with just the cottage cheese (i used half a tub of aldi's chive one) and the other half you could add HEa cheese and freeze for the green days you've been doing....god can you imagine the HEb's you'd be able to use that day if you had the scones instead of bread with your soup ;) x

you should treat yourself when you are feeling good and not when you are annoyed - makes it much better and you wont get 'the guilt' afterwards!

i got plain cottage cheese as they didn't have any of the chive one - but i bought some onion granules so will put a few of those in and some mixed herbs which i have at home for one batch. I am considering making some garlicky ones to have as 'dough balls' to see if that works but i think maybe cheesy ones for lunch are better for a first attempt lol.

I will do them on sunday and then my vegetarian SW friend can try some fresh out of the oven. Saturday I will make some soup :)

sounds like you've got it planned then...you could always put some spring onion in them and see how that is?

just grabbed a mugshot and some seafood sticks to have for lunch. dunno what i fancy and i don't want to waste my HEb for the sake of it so this'll do me for now.

not sure what i'm gonna have for dinner...maybe fanta chicken or thinking of trying some sort of fajita chicken mix with the lettuce wraps i've seen people on here mention...hmmm decisions decisions eh lol x

I think I have some spring onion in so I may just do that. I've left work a bit early to compensate for a very early start today (7:45) so I may even have time to whip up a batch before i go to the party so I can have a snack when I get back!

i made it...my 1st attempt...and i really enjoyed it.
didn't really use a recipe, just "fried off"
1 garlic clove, red and yellow pepper and an onion, added chicken and the rice (about 150g) and added half of the stock.
i made a litre up using 2 chicken stock cubes and added some more a bit at a time and threw in some frozen petit pois too.
didn't use it all and it ended up making loads so my OH's is sitting for whenever he gets up (he went for a sleep hrs ago and i've proceeded NOT to waken him lol) plus another portion for tomorrow.

would def make it again and try it out with different things :D x

Ahh I'm so pleased :) it's yummy isn't it?! My bf won't eat it so I have to have it for lunches or when he isn't around. I love doing one with asparagus, courgette and soya beans with a hexa of parmesan shavings on top mmmmm!

My first batch if scones are in the oven. I've made 11 small ones and 3 bigger ones. Im a little unsure of them - maybe I put too much onion granules in - and really hope they work. How long did you cook yours for?!

erm....they weren't in long to be honest, i left them for 10 mins or so then turned them and just judged - sorry, not much help lol.

i'll pay attention next time.

you gonna do them next time with the chive cottage cheese?

the application thing at work i was telling you about today....is thru now so no going back and it'll be happening from end of sept for me x

I don't think I made them well at all. They came out very squishy - not crispy on the outside at all and very much 'mashed potato' like in the middle.

:( bit gutted to be honest. I tried one and it was sort of ok but not something I would want to have regularly. Ill have to give it a try with soup to see if its any good but maybe I made it too soggy?!

The thread said to make up half the mash with water so its not dry so maybe if I just tried the original recipe it would be more to my liking.

:(

Birthday party was good though. I still had 8.5 syns left so had a little cupcake about the size my hand if I put my middle finger to my thumb. How many syns would you think that was?! As it is I'm not planning any more tonight so think I'm safe but would like to know for tomorrow.

Hopefully it will all work out with the extra hours but if not maybe you could drop them after the 6 months if its too hard?! It might just take some adjusting to.

yeah, it's more of a thought but once i get used to it i'm sure it'll be ok...and it's not for a while anyway.

ooh i don't have a clue about the cake....but i'm sure you'll be covered especially if you maybe a few left from other nights?

as for the scones...
i did half the tub of cottage cheese, blitz it til it was smooth then wizzed in an egg and just mixed the smash in. it was a good consistency to roll in to balls, squeeze down and bake but when they're cold, they are a bit rubbery.

they might be better the next time but i'm not keen on them cold at all x

I might try heating them up for brekkie and see if I can crisp them up in the frying pan or something.

Hate it when I really look forward to a recipe and it turns out rubbish!

i know....it's really disappointing! :(

i'm just thinking...i still can't access your diary...is it on the gold member's thread? cos i was wondering if it's cos i don't have enough posts that i can't see it?x

No I'm not a gold member or anything. No idea why you can't see it. (Tbh I haven't posted for ages so maybe if I start a new one you can see that?! Ill give it a try over the weekend and we can experiment)

Hmmm. No idea but ill look into it!

Well those 'scones' were ok with my bacon and egg but the rest have gone in the bin. Ill give them another shot using just dry smash and if that doesn't work ill abandon it lol.
