Help needed for 1st day......

Oh no - have a cup of coffee or tea when you get into work to perk yourself up a bit. Are you not sleeping well because of the heat? My bf is having real trouble at the moment and waking up absolutely dripping with sweat. Yuk! I'm managing to sleep ok despite my two litres of water (which I am managing to stick to!!!) lol

It might be because I always sit on the train to work and write so maybe a signal problem. Not sure - will give it a try lol

Today is EE for me. I've brought two eggs to work to make scrambled egg and pre cooked some bacon to go with it :) first time I have done it and I cant wait for breakfast lol. I made a mushroom risotto last night so that's lunch with salad, fruit and yoghurt. I've got a weetabix bar for my hexb and NO CRISPS TODAY as I'm out for dinner and saving my syns. Eeeekkkk!!!

We are out for wetherspoons curry night which is 18.5 syns. I'm skipping the naan which is 10 syns making it not too bad. I have some Special K biscuits if my lunch isn't enough but will only eat them as a last resort which will make today 13.5 syns.

Yesterday was a red day and went well. I had duck stir fry for dinner and skipped the noodles that my bf had. I hadn't had either hexa by the time my programme was on so made myself a snack of chopped up apple and cheese. Was really nice actually. Then I opened a packet of sweets to have just a few and was on the verge of ruining my day but stopped myself in time. I portioned the sweets up to eat over three days and managed to finish yesterday on 14 syns. Really pleased I managed to stop myself - and also for doing the shred. :)

What's your food plan today?

plan is a green one for me...but i'm super hungry today for some reason and have eaten have the stuff i brought with me already! lol.

not had one of these days for a while and the last 2, i've taken a load of stuff home...typical eh lol.

not had any coffee...i don't like it but didn't see your post until now so it was too late otherwise i might've had a gulp of one at home....

your food sounds nice today...i've no clue what's for dinner for me.....got the dentist after work so will just decide after that app and once i'm home x

Maybe something soft after the dreaded dentist!? Saturday might be a bit tricky for me food wise as I'm at a christening. Hopefully there will be salad or a BBQ if its nice weather.

Are you feeling less tired after your food?!

nope...still got that horrid sleep deprived feeling lol...roll on bed time!

it's just a check up i'm going for but wary just the same as it can sometimes make problems appear! *gulp*

it's warm here today...but it's that sticky way...no air - you know that uncomfy way?

how's your day been?x

Aww early to bed for you then hun. Hope you feel better tomorrow.

It's really muggy down here too - you can feel the rain is coming in the atmosphere. Hopefully tonight though as I can't bear the humidity.

My day has been good again - only three syns at lunchtime and i managed without my crisps lol. Managed to do my shred DVD again although my arms were killing me! Will def be sore tomorrow. Off out for dinner now :)

good for you on the dvd....shame you'll be sore tomorrow tho...no pain no gain though as they say ;)

we've had a few days where it's been so humid and you know it just needs to rain...i hate that sometimes cos i often get a banging head when it's like that.
it's a bit cooler now tho thankfully.

didn't know what i wanted for dinner....it's like that sometimes when it's so hot and you can't be bothered cooking a big meal. i made som sw wedges with the skins on a topped it with some mugshot...random but it filled me. not long had it which is a good thing considering i was so hungry at work but luckily managed a few hrs lol.
i seemed to graze all morning at work...all on sw stuff and fruit so it's good...but you know that way it still feels "bad"

enjoy your meal out tonight....currently planning what day to do tomorrow but yet to decide! lol x

Well I didn't even have the curry in the end. Lol. After looking forward to it all day!! They had steak on special for £2.99 so I had that but swapped chips for a jacket potato and had a nice (small glass of wine) for 5 syns. Plus 4 syns of butter on my potato and that tastes divine lol.

Been ages since I've had butter so really enjoyed it - much better than having a curry in my opinion!!

In going for EE tomorrow as my sister is cooking for me and I'm not sure what she will make. Ill have the same egg and bacon breakfast today and risotto for lunch as I still have a portion left. That leaves me syn free til dinner. Plus we are making cakes for the christening so there might be a little tasting to do ;)

You usually do EE on a weekend don't you?!

oh butter on your potato...mmmm...it's been ages for me too!
in fact, i've not had butter since i started this in january!!
sounds like a good choice though and tomorrow's planned out well too

i've kinda been mixing my days right up recently...usually do a red day on a sunday depending on what's for dinner so will just wait and see.
no decisions made yet...and nothing out the freezer either so who knows...x

Sometimes it's better to just have some of what you fancy spur of the moment. See how you feel after a (hopefully) good nights sleep tonight!

I'm going to put some muscle run on my arms before I go to bed to minimise the pain lol

Hello!

I meant to ask you - how did the dentist go? I really need to go - I skipped my last 6 monthly checkup as I didn't have the money before my holiday in November. Its about £45 though so at the moment seems a bit too expensive! Must get saving for it though as I am paranoid about losing my teeth lol (my step mum lost all hers when she was in her 20's as she used to eat sweets all the time!!!!!)

I put some ibuprofen gel on again this morning and so far it has done the trick and I'm not aching too badly. Day off from the shred today and I will attempt it again tomorrow before the christening!!

Mince gives you tons of options - chilli, spaghetti, home made burgers (i have a great recipe if you are interested), cottage pie.......

hiya...
was just a check up for me and all was ok...my little one, however, needs to go back!

glad to hear you're able this morning....after the dvd lol and still not decided what's for dinner...was thinking burger but don't have any rolls....saying that, could still make that and have it with sw chips and salad and it saves my HEb seeing as i've had rice pudding with fruit and yog for breakfast so not used it then either x

I always skip the bun when I have a burger as its a great way to save a hex if you don't want to use it. But if you do then it feels a bit indulgent :)

Hello missk!! How was your weekend?

Mine wasn't too bad although it was jam packed with social events. Yesterday we went to zizzi but I stuck with a tomato based prawn, chilli and pasta dish and a little bit of garlic bread. Had a tiny bit of bday cake and that's it syns wise for the day so I think I did pretty good.

Think I was a little over on Saturday at the christening but made a conscious effort to avoid the carb and grease loaded samosas and spring rolls and opted instead for roasted veg and sandwiches (but only enough for a hex b of bread). I avoided the sweet buffet too and in the evening when the BBQ came out I had a burger without a bun and that's it!!

I did have about 10 Pringles and a little bit of choc when I got home but when I think back to days gone by, I would have used Saturday as an excuse to have a day off (aka a binge) but I still felt reasonably in control all day and managed to rein myself in.

Today is a green day for me!

hey you...

oh you did well considering the temptation it sounds like you faced!

my weekend was ok...nothing exciting really and today is, of course cooking day!
i'm tired and a bit grumpy seeing as i only had about 3hrs sleep and my little one decided that 6am was a good time to come through and chat the ears off me....grrr lol...
i was freezing last night and just couldn't settle - you know that way where you're kinda conscious of everything - cos you're not sleeping properly - one of those and then of course the early morning chatter alarm meant an hr and a half less.
tempted to go for a snooze whilst my stuff's in the oven but it's a vicious circle cos i wouldn't sleep tonight.

anyway...what's the plan for your green day?
i did red yesterday and it's EE for me today. gonna attempt hunters chicken tonight for the 1st time so hoping it goes ok

glad to hear you had a good weekend...shame monday always comes around too soon eh x

urgh yeah - Mondays are tough! I really struggled to get up today - not that I had a late night as I was in bed by half 10...but still it took ages to wake up!

Im sorry to hear you are having trouble sleeping - kids dont understand that its not good to havea full blown conversation at 6:30 do they?! lol. Hope you manage to catch up on some of what you missed.....but I would caution against dozing while your cooking is in the oven - could be VERY dangerous. (Although im sure some hunky firemen rescuing you would put a smile on your face hahaha!

What you cooking up today? Dahl loaf? I wouldnt mind giving something like that a try but i'm nervous about it and haven't a clue where to start lol. I made my BNS soup last night but it was a small one and only enough for 3 portions so will have to think up some other lunch ideas this week!

Today's brekkie was cereal (without milk as we didnt have any so I ate it like popcorn lol). Lunch is BNS soup with hexb bread, an apple and some cheese for one of my hexa's and some yoghurt (3 syns as its a biopot again - mango and apple this time). I also brought some special k biscuit thingys for 5 syns. No crisps again as I need to get to the shops....heading to the pound shop tonight to stock up on hoops and crosses and also weetabix oaty bars as I refuse to pay supermarket prices lol.

I'm working late tonight so i prepared some ainsley harriet couscous and salad (half syn).

Not looking too bad really but I am worried I will get hungry since I didnt bring anything else 'just in case' like usual!!

Hunter chicken sounds lovely - is there a low syn BBQ sauce that you use? Would love to see the recipe....

i'm just gonna do the same sauce i use for the pulled pork:

passatta, mustard powder, sweetener, balsamic vinegar and worcester sauce. will need to hunt the recipe for measurements...or google for quickness lol.

i made quiche and dahl loaf as normal and made a wee pot of spicy tomato and red pepper soup for a change. figured i could maybe do a red day one day this week at work if there's any left...but would need to think of a replacement for my quiche/dahl loaf instead...hmm...hadn't thought of that until now actually!

i got these wee bags of flavoured popcorn from sainsburys last week. a bit pricey at £1.80 for 6 but its sour cream and chive, salt and vinegar and smoked paprika and they work out at 2.5 syns a bag so yest i had some of that AND a pkt of space raiders for 5.5 syns altogether.... ;)
asda have the special k chewy delight's for £1 if you had one near - one is a HEb and if you were there...you could pick up a tin of their chickpea dahl and savoury rice (which is 50p at the mo) and be on your way to making the dahl loaf? they also have the 4 pack of activia 0% yog for £1 - they're my favourite and it's just unfortunate that my fridge doesn't have enough room for me to buy a load lol

i'm not that keen on the weetabix bars...is it just 1 you get for a HEB? x

oooh if you can share the google link (or the amounts) I will give it a try....my pulled pork turned out to be such a disappointment lol. Now that you have mentioned it I quite fancy hunters chicken. I have a whole chicken in my freezer I was going to take out and cook on Wednesday for a roast dinner and I bet that you could use this sauce and some cheese on top to make it (even though it wouldn't be a whole chicken breast).

Tomato and red pepper soup sounds yummy - I am going mad for my BNS one at the moment but I know the time will come when I get bored and want to try something new....like pea and mint that i keep promising to do!!

Ooohhh I like the sound of your popcorn packets - what a bonus that you can have those AND space raiders for your treats!!! I had a bag of metcalfes skinny topcorn today with my lunch (6 syns) and it was a lovely treat. They sell it in my canteen at work and its quite pricy (90p per bag) but i love the sweet n salty one!! Are the ones you got sainsburys own?

I bought some penguin bars the other day for a treat (5.5 syns). Haven't indulged yet but I think it would be lovely in the evening with a cuppa to have some 'proper' chocolate. Especially as it is portioned out for me and I am less likely to over indulge than if I tried to portion up a big bar of dairy milk which is my ULTIMATE weakness lol!

I had no idea that special k chewy delights were a hexb so I will keep my eyes open for those. I do really like hifi bars but dont go to group lol. Alpen light would be my next choice but they always have the weetabix oaty bars in the pound shop so i get them more for value than preference tbh. It is just one for a hexb but they are quite chunky so I dont miss having two. Plus they come in choc or fudge flavour and it gives me a little fix lol.

Right - thats it! I want to try the dahl loaf now. Is the savoury rice and dahl in one tin together?! If not you will have to send me a pic of the tin/packet lol

I know what you mean about fridge space - i have been buying the big pot and keeping it in the fridge at work and just tucking in a bit each day. Thats helping me out space wise a lot!

right...
for the dahl - you need a can of asda's own chickpea dahl (brown label and is about 77p i think - in the aisle where the tinned curry, meat etc is)

you buy the batchelors savoury rice seperately and cook that as normal (i tend to use the beef one for this)

once the rice is cooked, add the dahl, 2/3 eggs, mix, put into whatever dish you're gonna bake it in and cook.
i tend to cook mine slow for longer...usually gas mark 5 until i know that it's set. and i also do 2 smaller dishes out of the lot cos one big one would take forever to cook through without being soggy in the middle!

the sauce i've used for tonight is:
227ml passatta (1/2 a carton)
3tbsp sweetener
4 tbsp balsamic vinegar
1 tbsp worcester sauce
1/2 tsp mustard powder

chuck it all in a pot, bring to the boil and simmer til it thickens. will let you know how it is tonight.

i've cooked the chicken and bacon together with a wee bit of cheese just now as we're heading out and won't be back til after 6. gonna put it back in the oven with the sauce and more cheese when we get back and think we're having it with sw chips and salad....mmmm hope it's as nice as i want it to be lol.

the popcorn was sainsbury's own. i'm never really there to be honest but they had pepsi max on offer so i made a point of going. they actually have the special k chewy delight's for £1.50 and i bought 2 lots cos my wee one loves them...but when i saw them at asda, i got 3 boxes and returned the ones from sainsburys! lol..what am i like eh...but no way was i paying £1.50 for 1 box when i could get 3 for the same price as i'd just paid for 2.....

my OH just rolls his eyes like WTF...but it's a mental thing and i won't pay over the odds when i don't need to ;)

i've not had a penguin for aaages.
i had a bit of a drifter last night - 5 syns and nice cos i've not had one for a while...but i did miss the 2nd finger lol.

my treats are freddos mostly - 5 syns and i keep them in the fridge so they last longer, bonus i guess is they're cadburys and portion's controlled in a sense like you say.
i like the orange aero biscuits too...i savour them and they taste so like a normal aero...yum meeeeee!

i've got WI in an hr - not sure what to expect but i've not eaten what i usually would today cos i went to get my bucket and was blethering to my neighbour which was valuable preparation time lol, so didn't make the salad i'd planned for lunchtime and i'm now hungry :(
obviously i won't eat now, nibbled at some fruit 15mins ago but have an alpen light with me for straight after x
