Hi i`m back again lol

Dear Roch

A happy today to you. My prayers are with you and I know that you will find the strength to get through - like FFnF says
you are a precious child and deserve and are worthy of success

She's right, you are, you do, and you WILL succeed!

Morning everyone, just logged on for 2 mins, everything is going good ss wise day 2 for me no0w, cant stay on pc for more than 5 mins Sciatica has hit me full on so have to lie down so far am managing with the Co codamol pain killers but if it gets worse will have to take the voltarol but will just wait and see.
Got a phone call from the specialist secretary my app for the endocrinologist is on Thursday and they want me to take a glucose tolerance test, think i got the name right and also to fast from 10 pm on Wednesday which wont be a problem.
Am a bit worried about the glucose test wont it kick me right out of ketosis or will i be ok ?
Anyway have waited so long to see the endocrinologist and finally get my hormone prob sorted that i have to take every test she wants.

Sorry cant respond to you individually, thanks so much for the support, not sure if i can log back on today if not will hopefully get on tomorrow.

Take care and thanks x

Tried to edit my post but was over the 15 mins deadline LOl, got that info wrong about the tests, will have the blood tests on thursday and the specialsit will give me a date for the glucose tolerance test, had one done many years ago and had to follow a specific diet for 2/3 days then drink a nasty glucose drink to see what my levels were.
This test is given to women especially when they may have Pocs, which the doc says i def do have.
Am not looking forward to it at all.
Does anyone know anything about this test and have u had it done, thanks x

hey roch... well done on getting to day 2... its gonna be so worth it!!!

you will be well on your way to slimdom come the june meet in our fair city!!!

love

Gen xx

Hi Roch,
I have PCOS and had the glucose tolerance test and was unfortunately diabetic - the 2 go hand in hand often.:(

They took a blood test and then I had to drink about a pint of gloopy sweet glucose drink. After an hour they took my blood again, and then after an hour and a half. They look to see how quickly your body processes it. Its easy but boring so take a good book !:)

Glad things are moving for you !
Hugs
Melissa

Well done on getting to day 2 hun, sorry your back is bad again hope it gets better soon xx
Sorry can't comment on the glucose test have never had one myself but it sounds painless enough (and even if you come out of ketosis temporarilly it will be worth it - your health comes first babe) xx

I've had the test and it was nothing. Fasted for 12 hours, into the path lab first thing in morning, they checked blood, then gave me a drink, I sat and read a book for about an hour or so, then, a few more finger prick blood tests and all done. I was fine, so try to look on the bright side about it. They do this test for all sorts of reasons, mine was to check for diabetes - I kept telling them I wasn't, lol, and I wasn't!! :D Don't worry about it, it's nothing. Honestly. You stay fully clothed, and it's pretty painless, just a few finger pricks and they only sting a teensy bit and a pretty yukky drink.

Blood tests are nothing to worry about either, just do what they say (ie fast) and then, when they are taking your blood (which only takes a few minutes - if that) keep as relaxed as you can and it will be over really quickly. :D

Yup, I have had them done too, easy as pie but boring!!!

I had to drink a yuk drink like icey cold sugar water!! Then every hour they prick your finger and take a bit of blood. Nothing bad at all.

Deffo take a book!

I too have had to have the glucose test done twice in fact whilst pregnant....!! At my hospital I had to drink flat lucozade..... not the nicest but as the others have said..... nothing hideous about it...... just boring sat around for about one - two hours..... Lots of magazines needed..... sure you'll be fine.....

Morning all, sorry just a quickie, have to go to the doc this morning, sciatica has got very bad and think she is going to refer me to the hospital today for an injection to help with the Sciatica,Aaron has to be off school to help me whoch i feel bad about.
Day 3 for me and doing ok.
When i said about the glucose tolerance test, i did not mean i was scared about it or the blood tests its just that i will then be out of ketosis, and last time i had the test i was told to eat normally for 48 hr b4 so they can get an accurate result, and also my thats what i am worried about and i am not very good at getting back on track.
Anyway the cab will be here in 10 mins so have to go now, take care and thanks for all the support xx

Just a thought - but why not ring them up and ask them - or, hopefully you will ask your GP when you see them this morning.

Sorry - when you said you weren't looking forward to the test and asked if anyone had had it or knew anything about it I kinda assumed you were worried about it. As you aren't having the test today and they are simply arranging it perhaps you can discuss the packs with them, take some with you, and ask if there is any real reason for you not to continue as you are (as that, for you now, IS normal eating)? I firmly believe that if you ask the right questions you often find out that there are a variety of ways to solving a single problem. Hope they let you stick to it once you explain how important your weight loss is to them. :D

I've had the glucose test a few times and each time I've been instructed to fast - same for bloods, I guess it all depends on the individual and what they are looking at :)

Sorry to hear about Aaron having to take time off school, let's hope that as your weight vanishes (and boy it will! :D) this won't need to happen any more. I don't say that as a criticism, I know you need him, just as a positive goal :D :D Try not to feel bad about it.

If you do find this happens a lot though you might like to ask your GP to arrange a care package for you in the meantime (I'm sure Aaron's school will support any request you might make) - I think someone alluded to the same thing a couple of months ago - but I can't remember who it was.. I'm sure they will wave ! lol

Hope it went well at the docs and well done on getting through these first 3 days! (I found them the toughest!) I bet you've already lost half a stone! :D :D :D

Hi Roch, just popping in o say hello. Hope that back of yours isn't giving you too much grief today.
Big hugs catch ya later hun xx

Hi all, just come back from the hospital, had a whole barrel of tests and the glucose tolerance test which has kicked me out of ketosis, have one more test to do tomorrow for cushions disease where i am giving steroid tablet to take tonight and it makes me so hungry and u have 2 eat then i have a blood test at 9 am to check how the steroids worked and how it affected my brain.
So on Saturday i will get back on with my packs.

Was really shocked to hear all that he had to say 2 me and i think all this time i have been fooling myself to how much damage i have caused myself by overeating all these years and i am very upset and was crying all the way home.
He found 3 lumps in my tummy and said that they cant do a ultrasound as my tummy is 2 big and we just have to keep an eye on them.
He said quite a bit more but i am not ready to talk about it yet as i feel scared and upset and have not really taken in everything he has said to me yet.

Going 2 take a little break from posting as i cant really cope at the moment feel so disgusted with myself at the momnent.
Hope u all have a good weekend and thanks for all the support and will chat soon. xx
