IF AT FIRST YOU DON'T SUCCEED, try try try again and again (and again...)

Morning all! Had a HORRIBLE morning at work so this afternoon can only get better, right?!

Weight, food, walk, etc. all good though :)

Right, can ONLY get better!

Actually it was one of my (new) bosses who stressed me out by giving me something quite lengthy to do on an urgent basis, then kept ringing me to see whether it was finished!

That's so annoying. Doesn't he realise that each time they interrupt you, it takes longer to do the task?

"She" actually... She's new so you always wonder whether perhaps she had a superdooper assistant in her previous firm (an even more superdooper one than me, I mean!!)! As you say, not only did the interruptions cause the job to take longer, but also she wound me up by suggesting it SHOULD only take 10 mins, that I could easily have told her her fortune. Such a shame cos we've got on so well to date...

Happy Friday mood today though - so no one can GET me today :) Am a little aghast at how short the black South Africa tshirt I put on this morning is, cos if I'm not careful, one can see my wrinkly belly when I move! aaah! (speaking of the devil, it's nearly lunchtime. Bon appetit!)

Last night, in preparation for my country weekend, I went to the butcher, spent a fortune (with luncheon vouchers) on steak and turkey, ate some, froze some, and put remainder in tupperwares to take on the train for OH (ok for ME!) this weekend.

I've just been home and back (puff puff) in my lunchhour to get it! haaaa! Left it in the fridge! What a wally!

Perhaps she was having an off day and took out some deadline stress on you. Hopefully, she'll return to being more reasonable soon.

(More sooperdooperer than you, Jo? I can't believe that for one minute! :) )

Anyway, glad you're having a better day today, despite wardrobe malfunctions. (That happened to me the other day when I was hanging out some washing and suddenly realised that I'd been exposing most of my midriff to anyone passing by. Oops. )

I'm actually having a thin day today... albeit a wrinkly one when I get a peek (mirrors everywhere here, so at least I'm reminded to give the tshirt a yank downwards every time I stand up!!).

She's been "normal" today, and I had "a word" just before lunch, and all seems fine...

"(More sooperdooperer than you, Jo? I can't believe that for one minute! :) )" -- well that's what I thought!

My tum is now (relatively) lovely when I stand up. When I sit down, though, it's maybe not so pretty. I think that it would have been different if I'd been younger - the loss of elasticity in more mature skin has a lot to answer for!

It's funny, isn't it, how tummies can actually look much nicer and smoother when they're rounded and have a bit of cushioning in them.

Good to hear that your boss is back to normal. Definitely an off-day, from the sound of it.

Morning diary and all...
Had a good albeit busy weekend. I remembered on Saturday that there was a ceremony at 11am at the village monument for the 8 May remembrance, followed by drinks and nibbles in the town hall, so I decided to allow myself to partake. I admit that I thought about this gleefully right up to the time we went, even though I'd prepared a salad lunch for our return and warned OH not to let me continue eating after the festivities.
As it transpires, while I did accept a glass of crémant (and stupidly put cassis in it, adding to the calorie count!), I sat looking at the bowl of [won't say the words for fear of tempting others] and plates of [ditto] and refused a top up the fifty eight (at least!) times I was offered more booze!

I'm quite amazed at my restraint, to be honest, and am pondering the psychology of my not bothering overeating when I allowed myself to. Could be a great tactic!!

This morning I walked miles. First to the train station and back to get myself a ticket to join OH Friday night (sent him back this morning to WORK at the house/garden!), and find a chemist open at 7am to get him some cough medecine (he's got bronchitis but won't take anything else!)... then walked to work from home. 1hr20. Feeling good! 26°C here today :)

And Vicky's back!! OK perhaps not on the forum yet, but she's back!

I used to love Crémant de Bourgogne with Kir. Drool.

Sorry to hear about your husband, though. Surely he really needs some antibiotics. Sounds like a typical man, not wanting to take any proper medication. In any case, I do hope that it clears up soon.

I do too... although the stuff they serve up at the Mairie isn't my favourite!

OH is a typical man. He doesn't suffer in silence, oh no, but won't take anything for it just cough syrup. I told him it won't cure him, but ...!

Ah so that was your bank holiday! Well done on your restraint! We had lunch at one of the local garden centres yesterday but I just had coffee - tummy still sore from Friday. The thing is they have a lovely salad bar but it is full of things like coleslaw, potato salad and pasta - not very suitable (understatement of the year!)

A chap from work brought me in some probably fertile bantam eggs today so Sunday is now happily ensconced on those. Watch this space! The other chooks have been happily playing slow worm chase again this evening!

Did some more work on the veggie garden yesterday - the beetroot have gone mad with the rain last week. Mungbean had his first kill on Saturday - a bird which I didn't see. We think someone pinched it though because he spent the rest of the weekend looking for it and bleating about not being able to find it!

Any news on a date for coming over yet? There is always a room here if you need it ever.

Hello - woop on goal and passing it well done you xxxxx
sorry havent had time to catch up properly but look at my naughty stats lol xxxxx
lovely to be back on here but not so much back at work xxxx

Mouse - I sent you a PM this morning early...

Vicky - what I see on your ticker is that you haven't smoked in 23 days!!! (As for 10lbs on - yeah I read that elsewhere - I bet you lose half that in three days!!).

I've got the date for the funeral - May 23rd... <I just deleted my thoughts on the delay to keep my diary polite!> It'll be a quick whizz into England for 36H south before heading to the funeral. I'm not too bothered about the food thing - amazing how things change!

Work is horrid. Speak later!

big hugs Jo xxxx terribly long wait x

My dear Mum used to say: "if you've nothing nice to say, say nothing", which is why I've been avoiding my own diary like the plague!

Nothing's wrong in the diet front - that's the ONE area of my life I am in full control of at the moment, and is the only bright thing on my horizon.

As I was saying to someone today, opening my wardrobe and being able to CHOOSE among the entire range, as opposed to a handful of coathangers, is such a joy again. I really must "bottle" this feeling and stick at it.

So back to the UK a week tomorrow for the funeral. I'm less worried about the whole thing this time (do I hear a collective sigh of relief?!).

Saturday (after 4 hours sleep on Fri night) I shall walk into the town for some shopping and another meet with the lovely MOUSE, letting OH bring the car. I'll PP Saturday (or V if we go out in the evening to a pub on the beach which I love cos they have a HUMUNGOUS steak on their menu!); Sunday I shall walk 7.5km to (wait for a it) a much loved f+chips place by the water. It will be my gala meal and I shall lose some chips. PP tea. Monday in the car/funeral/drive back to France --> PP. Will avoid eating at funeral. Not a problem. Get back here at 5am Tuesday and am off work. Back on forum Wed theoretically!

As the songs go: "Things can only get better..." and "Be Happy" and, surprisingly, I can feel my morale improving today :)

You and mousey meeting up again. snot fair :(
