Izzyhew's dizzy start to diet......

I like the look of it, I might give it a go :)

verdict on the pork chops.... that 2nd recipe not as good, still ok but prefer the 1st recipe.

pork chops are a recipe from the website we spoke of before, I had to change my plan though as I forgot I had ran out of chinese 5 spice powder.

Original plan was...Chinese Five Spice Pork Chops recipe - All recipes UK
which turns out lovely, and I don't bother with the cornflour, or wine as I never have it, I add a splash of balsamic vinegar instead, I usually add the sugar, so it's 1/4 spoon/person which is 1/4 syn.

what I have made is.... Tasty pork chop marinade recipe - All recipes UK
but I haven't cooked them yet, been busy with daughters drum practise so just home. I'm counting 2 syns per pork chop, not sure if that is right but sure it will be near enough. I will be a little over today as I ate some cheese thin crackers earlier ...... but my average for the week is still under so hopeful for a loss still tomorrow, I haven't checked for a day or two lol

I almost got caught out earlier, usually when hubby is training he texts to tell me he is on his way home, 30 mins away which gives me time to look like I haven't been running! However he turned up unannounced this morning and I was still sat in my trainers! Thankfully I had cooled down so much he couldn't see I had recently been red and sweaty hahaha. Oh well. I do seriously wonder if I should just admit it so I can always train during the day instead of evening, but I'm just not ready to tell yet.

Be careful, if your O/H comes home to find you looking shifty and sweaty he might think you're having it off with the postman lol

I've got some chinese 5 spice in, I normally do pork chops with honey and mustard but this recipe should make a tasty change, thanks for sharing :)

Counting syns weeks seems to be a popular way of managing them on here so I'm sure you'll be fine xx

I made the katsu curry last night it was delicious

Ooh that's 3/3 wins on the katsu reviews I've seen, excellent :D

well that's another 1lb off for me :) not exactly dropping off like it does for some, but I am still pleased with that, and it also means I have lost weight 3 weeks in a row! Fingers crossed for 4!

I don't think I can expect faster losses with the way my body currently works, perhaps if the ovaries calm down when I have lost a little it may go a little faster, but to be honest I can live with a pound a week. I'll be disappointed if it drops to 1/2 tho lol, other than once in a while. My period still hasn't really completed itself properly, still just having the very light off and on stuff for past 2 weeks :( that can't help.

It is a little frustrating when some people manage to lose so much in one week, amounts that have taken me several weeks, but hey you just have to step back and remember this is not a race. If I hadn't started a few weeks back I'd still be 4.5 (or worse) lb's heavier than I am now, and for that I must be cheerful!

Just had a lovely morning snuggle with my son :)

My normal breakfast is likely to be fruit and yog, might do bacon and egg for lunch, and we are having burgers and wedges for tea :)

I need to get my breadmaker busy to make bun this afternoon, and have the baby group to attend this morning.

I am sat here sporting one black fingernail, contemplating if I can carry off the look of black fingernails! Nails are something I never used to have, having bitten them my whole life (well as soon as I had teeth I guess) however, oddly when I was about 4 months pregnant I suddenly noticed I hadn't been biting.... I don't know if it was perhaps a subconscious link with nausea as I did feel sick pretty much every day off and on, perhaps the nail biting made it worse and I subconsciously stopped, but I always thought there wasn't much hope of the nails lasting. I have stopped for short whiles in the past but never managed to keep it up, but here we are over a year down the line and I still have nails. I find it a nuisance having to cut them! I don't like them too long I find it too impractical. Anyhoo I think I will paint the rest, will wait till he is having a nap though or guaranteed it will end up messed up!

enough rambling for the moment, have a great day mini's x

I have *cheated* slightly, as more recently with my sw journey I have only lost 4.5 lbs (in 3 weeks), the 21lbs is from my heaviest probably around 18- 24 months ago! short version of the story is..... I lost some- became pregnant - had baby- had regained some- lost a little - started slimming world 3 weeks ago, but I wanted my ticker to reflect what I had already achieved, as well as being proud to not be right back at the start especially having had a baby in between!

Couch to 5k is a programme designed to take a couch potato complete beginner to being able to run 5k, in 8 or 9 weeks. Personally I suspect it could well take me longer but progress is good! You are supposed to do 3 work outs per week, every session starts with 5 mins warm up of walking, then the sessions alternate 60 seconds of running with periods of walking, building up from week to week to longer periods of running and shorter periods of walking, it's well worth a try if you are wanting to learn to jog/run. I jog quite slowly at the moment but I am hoping if I can manage to complete the programme I will build on it.

You have done well so far, 10 lbs is a lot of effort to lose! I am sure you can get to 21, and will end up overtaking me lol, as my progress tends to be slow. Good Luck x

ooh and I have black nails :)

Buns are baked, burgers are ready to cook.... roll on tea time! (HE bun, HE cheese and a slice of bacon yum yum oh and don't forget the syn free chips and salad)

I don't reckon you're 'cheating', it's important to acknowledge how far you've come overall not just from the start of SW. Good for you :)

I was going to say you could have left it at one painted nail, very punk! I used to have black nails with one painted another colour quite often as a teenager :D

Well done on the loss this week, I got the same and can understand it being a little frustrating but we know the lbs all add up over time and you're eating sensibly and healthily too so it's all doing you good :)

Mmn, sw burger and chips - that's the way to live lol xx

wow 21 lbs lost already:).
hope I can get there someday
what is 'couch to 5K' and how do you complete it?

You will get there :) Get stuck into minimins - there's lots of great support here to help you on your way xx

well for my burger I chose one of the curry flavoured ones I made and it was nice - but not quite as nice as the original ones, so probably won't bother again. Still got a chilli flavoured one to try for next time as well as some normal ones in the freezer though. I didn't have my HE cheese, but did have my HE bun, some bacon, left over beans, and as there was a lack of superfree I had parsnip chips instead of potato, was yummy.

In other news I have discovered quark! How could I have lived for 37 years and not known about this little gem of the dairy world? I mixed some with sweetner to try earlier and oh my goodness how can that be free!?! I'll be having that with my fruit in the morning I think, and will be compelled to make pretend cheesecake with cereal bar bases as I have seen someone else do (sorry i forget who!) It was so, so, sooooo yummy! and if it wasn't that I am already stuffed I'd be munching on it now!

Oh and it's such a little thing, but I am proud every time I manage to make it through the hour sat in a cafe waiting for my daughter on a weds evening, WITHOUT succumbing to the hot chocolate lure. I had flavoured water this evening.

Thank you by the wayxx Well done sitting in the cafe and not having that hot choc. When I go to the local garden centre cafe, which I do on a regular basis, sometimes on my own with a kindle for company, and see all the lovely cakes & biscuits I feel proud too so definately know where you are coming from with that.
As for quark it is so delish.

well done on the loss this week izzy - its coming off and thats the main thing. My losses are small and slow but its the best way to keep it off x

I like crumbling lotus caramelised biscuits (2 syns each) into quark = lazy cheesecake. You could also try 'Eton Mess', mix your quark with sweetener and white choc options and layer in a glass with strawberries and crumbled meringue, omnomnom... Welcome to a world of new possibilities! :D

Drooling at the Eton mess! seriously low syn too..... must get meringues!

hubby has just sat and demolished 4, yes 4, of our homemade burgers complete with buns, and some wedges. I seriously don't know where he put it, I didn't manage to finish my one earlier! and still I know he won't gain an ounce and will still wake up starving tomorrow.

It must be ninja magic! :8855:

week 4, session 2 of couch to 5 k complete! I really never imagined I could get this far and I really really really need to remember that every time I look ahead to next week and try not to shudder!

So far I have eaten an Aldi benefit bar (1/2 HE) I am jumping in the shower in a minute, and will probably have some fruit perhaps with quark and sweetner after. Lunch perhaps jacket potato, or pasta or something..... Tea is going to be fish tonight. I usually just bake it in the oven with choped onion and tomato on top, with my HE cheese on top. Usually we have potato wedges with it.

Not got much plans for today, but we need to sort out the advert to sell our caravan. looking forward to having it sold, cash will go towards new car for DH, and if we get enough we are also replacing the carpet in the lounge in a few months, Once I am back at work and everything settles and we see for sure our cashflow is ok. I am a little paranoid and count everything up a million times lol. I have had a good maternity package at work, but I am down to the statutory mat pay now, and it's going to stop as well next month. We have some savings but I always worry incase we haven't saved enough, even though I have counted again and again, I really need my head examined.

Well done on getting to where you are with c25k, it's such a fantastic achievement.

I buy the Aldi cereal bars too, usually the chocolate orange ones. Is it just me or are they shrinking???

When are you due to go back to work? What is it you do? I'm a worrier when it comes to money too, I do a thorough budget every month and everyone thinks I'm mad but it makes me feel better to keep track of the finances, especially with a holiday to save for x

I haven't been buying the bars long enough to see any change, but they are certainly not very big, but considering how low in calories etc they are I guess they are ok. I have some berry ones too.

I'm going back to work in September :( as a heating engineer. I have so enjoyed my time off it is passing too quickly. I think too many people pay no attention to their money Bev and that's partly why so many people have debt problems. I know there are many people with real and justified reasons for being in trouble, but there are also too many people who simply overspent on things they didn't need. I don't think you are strange at all I think you are sensible.

I have had to confess to my hubby about the couch to 5k! We were speaking earlier and he said he could see how motivated I had been lately and offered to make up a work out for me (he is very capable of this, and also very insightful he would make up something that suits my fitness) and usually I have kind of fobbed him off on this and said maybe in a few months etc. This time however I felt the time is right and I should let him help me, and in order to do so I felt he needed to know I was also doing the jogging. He was impressed that I had done it for a month :) so not quite the surprise I was building up to, but still a surprise.

I have some low syn sausages that I am now planning a sw fry up for lunch yummy.

That's lovely that you've let your hubby in on the little secret. I'm sure he will be so supportive and keep you motivated. At least you will be able to do the workouts at a time to suit you now as well rather than squeezing them in when he was out.

The bars are definitely still worth it but I'm definitely sure that they're smaller than they used to be. If they keep going we'll soon be able to have 3 as a HexB!! :)
