JanD into the third year of maintenance :-D

Hey Jan,
Just hearing about things going on in Merseyside. Hope your ok x

Jan, hope you don't have to experience any of the violence. Just been watching Sky news. So much of England in turmoil at the minute. Take care.

Jan, are you ok? Is it ok where you & your family are?

These riots are absolutly ridiculous!!!

Any reply Mary?x

Hope she is ok :(

Oh dear!! Hope all is well with Jan and all of you! Cant believe the news :(

Hope Jan and family are o.k. It is worrying with all the violence springing up anywhere and everywhere. I watched BBC news for an hour this evening and it looked like a war zone. these people just ignored the police.

Hope all ok jan x x

Ah thanks guys :D. You're all so kind to be concerned. I'm sorry I didn't see your texts earlier Mary & Tan - my phone was in my bag and I was busy with grandchildren.

The only way any of this is affecting me up to now is that, as some of you know, I have a son who is in the police. This type of thing is precisely what the unit he is in deals with - though not to these levels normally of course!! He was due to go in at 6pm but got called in at 1pm & goodness knows what he's doing, though he could well have been sent to Manchester, looking at the news.
They are supposed to be going on holiday to DIL's parents' villa in Spain on Thursday but it's looking like all leave will be cancelled :(

Just had text from DIL to say he's been out to one riot but is now back at HQ on standby for the 'big one' which is apparently expected later tonight in Liverpool.

The biggest worry is that, far from him being worried or concerned about all ,Jeff is in his element. He says this is what he joined the police for and is thrilled to be seeing some action - I'm not sure whether that's a good or bad thing tbh.
DIL said he was so hyped up that there could just be one poor little lad with a water bomb in Liverpool city centre & Jeff would be laying into him ..... LOL!!
Sadly I feel I need to qualify this with ..... it was a JOKE!!

He also has a good attitude to cancelled leave - if it has to be it has to be ... this is what he signed up for and cancelled leave means interesting work!
They also get paid double and all out of pocket expenses (flights or whatever) reimbursed so it's not ALL bad. Though losing the hol is a bit of a b*gger. DIL says she'll go on her own with the little ones but I can't see that myself. Anyway - we'll see.

Prayers and blessings to everybody caught up in this nonsense as far as I'm concerned xx

OK Food .. Tuesday 9th August

Breakie - vanilla mousse

Lunch - Tesco food bar

Tea - Turkey drumstick slow cooked with veg, tinned toms & thickened with gravy granules.

V&Cs

Have picked a wee bit -- bits of egg & salad cream sarnie filler that fell out when I made them (honest ) bits of choc (tiny slivvers I promise) that fell off Mum's slice of cake when I put it out for her & 2 McCoys crisps.

Had a nice couple of hours this afternoon with DIL & all four grandsons :D:D xx

:p Totally understand!!!
I get hyped up being sent to an immediate call so can imagine how hyped he will be at this. Is his unit a riot unit then Jan trained specifically for these events?

It is a shame though that people feel the need to do this.

And thats good that holidays etc get reimbursed! :)

Well normally his unit acts on 'intel' and is involved in disrupting what could be seen as 'planned' activities iykwim. I know I'm being overcautious but I don't want to post the name of the unit. You never know .... but yes Tan he has all the training for this type of thing ..... he wants to go to armed response when the kids are a bit older - that's what he's like.
Funny because when he was little he wanted to go to America to be a police man because they have guns ..... at least this way I get to keep him in the country ;) xx

Actually it's not 'funny' at all - but you know what I mean  xx

What a great attitude your Son has Jan, guys like that are a blessing to have on the beat looking after us.

I know you must worry though, thats only natural. I just wish this rioting would come to a halt, they have gone on too long now, and its so needless.

Your friend's nails are amazing!! Can she do normal things like washing up and that?

Sorry Bev only just seen this .... She seems to manage perfectly well. I mean I've been there when she's been cooking and washing up etc and I guess she's just used to them. A bit annoying when she's on the computer as all you can hear is the nails tapping on the keys ;). The most common question she gets asked is - how does she wipe her bum - I kid you not - people are that rude ... and it does irritate her. All she says is - with paper - how do you wipe yours? LOL!! xx

Oooops sorry Mary :giggle: xx

hahahahhaha love that answer!!
