JanD's New Year, New Start, Maintenance Diary

I used to do an 8 week rota like yours ie. 4 on 4 off - except I actually did 3 on 5 off but still within the 8 week rota. I was really pi**ed when it got changed and I still don't like the fact I work EVERY friday unless I take leave ... doesn't seem right. But ho-hum I have (relatively) secure job so can't really complain :) xx

I love my 4 on, 4 off - I would hate to go back to Mon-Fri. I have done this for about 6 years now. I even love it when I have the days off during the week, as there is so much you can get done - I still live on the frame of mind that weekend are for socialising etc.

I like working odd hours and going to bed when everyone else is getting up and going out. I loved my 3 on 5 off and REALLY kicked against the change but had to accept it eventually  ... I guess you can get used to anything when you have to ;) xx

Hun, obviously you can tell me to go away and mind my own business. I've been reading your diary, just too lazy to comment most the time. All the suggestions above are great on how to get the scales moving again. I would suggest an elimination 'diet' for a couple of weeks. The more you eat certain foods the more the body can become intolerant to them. Maybe cut out dairy and wheat for two weeks and see how you go? You may have a slight lactose intolerence which may have been why your losses were slower on lipotrim.. after the two weeks you add them back if you want and if you feel bloated, tired etc you know what the culprit was

as i said you can tell me to mind my own lol xx

Great advice.

Wow you ladies can talk lol

Jaaaaaaaan!!!!! I know it's frustrating but you really have done superb in these 18months :)

I don't think cutting alcohol makes much difference, look at me for the case study cut it for 4weeks and hardly any change. You don't drink excessive amounts and you drink low cal stuff (minus the odd rosé).

You will get there Hun you will you will you will :) maybe your body does just need a change in foods just to kick it into gear again? Xxxxxxx

I would never tell anyone with well meant advice to mind their own business!! Especially someone who's done as well as you 86 - WOW!! You've lost a whole person!!!! All suggestions gratefully received :D .... The only dairy I have is ww yogs - maybe 1 a day and extra light laughing cows - maybe 3-4 a week. I do have the occasional coupla pieces of toast or wraps. For these 3 working days I'm having just my 'negative calorie' soup (I put that in quotes because I know opinions differ as to whether there's such a thing as negative calorie foods) but in any case it's the soup from what's called the 'negative calorie diet'. That's all I've had today, all I'm taking to work and all I'm having till at least Saturday evening. So that is actually cutting out the wheat and the tiny bit of dairy I DO have - only 3 days but then if I DO do high protein after that then that'll keep me off the wheat too. :)

Tanya ... YES we can yadder yadder yadder ;) :giggle: xx

Oh yeah - forgot to mention - ended up having a li'l mini bingefest just before I went to bed last night :( .... crackers & cheese, 2&1/2 ww choc cakes, piece of bread - can't even remember what I had on that :(:( so possibly all I'll be losing in the soup days is whatever damage that did! :sigh: xx

can't even remember what I had on that :(:(

:rotflmao: Where was the evidence aka the knife?!!! I bet you washed it thinking ha if i wash it then i didnt use it to spread anything! lol xx

I think it all just ran into one big 'stuff it all in your face' in my head :( - I think it was more cheese :( xx

Don't be :( Jan!! What will be shall be. Your soup should help you this week as will the protein days :)

Just thought - I have 1/4pt of skimmed milk when I have weetabix, bit more dairy there then x

:rotflmao: Where was the evidence aka the knife?!!! I bet you washed it thinking ha if i wash it then i didnt use it to spread anything! lol xx

LMAO - I love your way of thinking kiddo.

Hey Jan, just thinking, when you have your negative calorie soup, I am surmising its just veggies.......cant you have a bit of protein with it, just to give that bloody metabolism a little kick?

also it means the binge wasnt totally your fault :) xxx

I like that bit ;) :p x

Seriously though it's interesting what you say ... AND I never thought about the wheat in the WEETabix ... DUR!!!! ;) x

...............and here was I blaming the booze..........lmao, just shows how we all think differently too.

I was blaming a 'last supper' mentality before 3 days of Lovely (not) soup!

Heard what you said about the protein Hon - but there's none on the neg cal diet - not at first, I'd rather wait a couple of days.

I was reminded of my time on LT tonight, when I was putting DH's chicken out - I'd have killed for a mouthful. Here's hoping I get that mindset back - at least for a little while - that chicken & salad are desirable and will be enough ;) xx

How goes the soup then Jan? Can I ask how you make that, fancy making a good soup to have over a few days and cos I'm trying to be good I think it might be a good idea.

Let's just say I'm glad it's the last night and I'm REALLY looking forward to some chicken tomorrow night. I'm going to put one in the slow cooker before I go to bed in the morning :).
It's fine really just a bit boring though you can ring the changes a little bit by putting different herbs & spices in each bowl as you reheat it.
You need a humungous stock pot .. I have no idea what the actual capacity of mine is but I have a set of 3 and it's the middle sized one (lol!)
The recipe is ...
A cabbage (I use savoy and had to get 2 this time they were so little)
5 or 6 onions,
5 medium carrots,
about 8ozs green beans,
a few handfuls of spinach,
a head of brocolli,
2 tins of tomatoes,
2 pkts of french onion soup,
garlic if you want,
there's celery in the recipe but I don't put any in coz I don't like it.
8ozs brown rice.

Chop all the veg up, bung it in the stock pot with the toms & pkts of soup,
Fill the pot to about 2 inches from the top with water & bring to the boil
Add the rice and let the pot boil for 5 minutes
Turn the heat down and simmer gently till everythings tender
I'm warning you this takes about 4 hrs so make sure you've got plenty of time ;)

The scales still aren't being kind though :( - I usually drop about 4 or 5 lbs on a few days of this but it looks like it's only gonna be 1 or 2 :(. I assume that's because I wasn't actually being a pig before I started it ... getting fed up of trying things to shift these lbs now - and only 4 weeks to go :(

Having said that ... I went to Tescos this morning to pick up one of their 'meal deals' for Monday - so I'm not really doing myself any favours there am I?? But I need a life too and it IS Valentine's Day ... :sigh: xx

You'll be fine Jan. Even if you dont get all the lbs off before your hols i know and im sure you know that when you get back you'll for sure get em off :D x

Hope so  ... it's just frustrating coz it seems to be soooo much more difficult than normal to shift them! - that'll 'larn' me to put so much on over a holiday period!!! xx

A bit like Xmas really.....I can remember years ago that the credit card debt from Xmas would still be there when the following one rolled round........

Come on Jan, we can do this!
