JanD's New Year, New Start, Maintenance Diary

Aw thanks hon  ... no quotes here though, think it's this old laptop in my son's but I don't know. Will do proper replies later xx

Awwww Jan!!!!! :hug99: xxxx

I bet its a struggle to get back on, especially as your holiday is so close now. Do you reckon its because you were low carbing for a while that caused the eating of the horse? :giggle:

Hope you get back aboard soon, its not that bad here i promise!! hehe
lotsa love xx

What did you do Jan? I thought that the cupboards had been emptied?

If my last attempt to confess hadn't disappeared .........!!

I'll try again ...

It started before I left work with 2 of those dang chocs I managed to resist last week (told you they'd be around for ages!)
Continued at my mother's where I had 2 pieces of toast with clover, 2 taste the difference half coated cookies, a big white choc chip cookie, a few pringles and a mars bar.
Continued some more when I got to Jonnie's - 2 pieces of toast with lurpack & helmanns, a cob of cheese with helmanns and 2 shortbread rounds. :(:(

I had a really good sleep though! Didn't wake up till 7.15 tonight - poor dogs had their legs crossed and were starving!!

Had cooked meat & boiled egg salad with 2 tsp helmanns for tea and made another for work, have also brought a boiled egg and 2 easy peelers.

I've just been reminded of that brilliant post of Vanessa's earlier this evening in Tan's thread. I'm in conversation in a status comment of mine on fb with a friend. It so happens that my dd and her dd are moving in together on sat and we're talking of going to see them & the flat on monday evening. She has said we could get a takeaway & I said as I'm wanting to lose a few lbs before Oz I won't partake but will happily chip in. She has come back with 'for god's sake you've got to eat' to which I've replied (more or less) 'yes but not takeaways, not even to please you ;o)' ......... Thing is she will perceive that as me 'spoiling' her fun. And not see 'a few lbs' as any sort of issue (almost needless to say she has 5 or 6st to shift herself) ... I have absolutely no problem with them all having it - it's not fair that I should be seen as a spoilsport. Oh bum!! :( xx

Got a text before telling me not to go to work till 1am ... wonder why that meant I had to have a go ahead fruit bake?? **scratches head**

Have packed up a cooked meat salad, a boiled egg and 2 easy peelers to take to work. xx
It meant you had to have a go ahead, because you had those few hours........hey, dont beat yourself up chick. Why do we ever eat, because we CRAVE it.......honestly, when do we eat because we are hungry?........I know in my case, I eat about 5% of the time when I am hungry, the other 95% is because I am craving it, or its officially dinner time, or some other pathetic excuse, but we are human hunni.

Oh I did wonder why you were around here so early tonight as usually your not on till around now on a work night!

Ok that made me sound like a right stalker lol xx

Tanya the stalker ;)

You can still have low fat from takeaway, like (forget the name of it) the one I had last night, lettuce leaves and you wrap it around something, I think its healthy, but not really sure lol.

That'd still be seen as me being a pain coz I'm not wading in the the 'normal' stuff ..... much as I'd like to!! But anyway - I'm sure it'll be fine xx

Jan, don't worry yourself about it. Never feel forced to have something because everyone else is (not that i imagine you would feeel like that your pretty strong minded) and if they percieve you as a spoilsport thats them 'spoiling' it for themselves. What difference does it make if you eat a takeaway or not?!!

I guess thats like when we were on tfr, it was people more embarrased about us not eating/drinking than we were!

:) xx

Well said girl :D

Thanks hon... yes it's just like the TFR situation. It just annoys me because what it most probably actually is about is the fact that SHE can't seem to get to grips with her weight issues. She does have them - if she was quite happy where she is that'd be fine by me but she isn't .. we actually met at SW several years ago. I've gone on to (sort of) deal with mine whereas she is bigger than ever. We meet for a meal about once a month and she will always find something to say like 'oh salad again' or 'is that all you're having' or whatever. I bet it wouldn't be acceptable for me to look at her plate and say 'my God are you going to eat ALL that??!!' Maybe I should try it - might shut her up ;) lol! xx

Yeah.....do it Jan.......bloody cow! Sorry.

:giggle: xx

Haha yes do it do it!!! Xx

Amusing though the thought is - you KNOW I never would! ;)

Still at it ..... :party0051::eatdrink051::17729::confused: :break_diet: & have already told DH I'll have a small fish from the chippie tonight - their small being the size of a plate, not the size of a bin lid like their ordunary ones :(

Hoping by the time I pack my stuff up from here & get home, unload the car, get to bed & wake up later on I'll feel differently - but I woudn't put money on it :sigh: xx

True isn't it? It's always the people with their own weight problems who are so scathing about us trying to stay in control of ours! Don't they realise that this is a 24/7 situation and we battle constantly......

My sister cancelled coming away to France with us a few months ago cos I was doing tfr she said that she wouldn't have fun if I wasn't eating and drinking.......ok I can understand that to some extent but the eating and drinking wasn't going to be the whole weekend. Now she's lost over a stone with ww and it's a different story! She generally eats with us about once a fortnight and I give her all the details so that she can point her meal....and I pick things that wint be hugely damaging! Last week we had a Chinese and we counted/pp'd every dish and the bottle of SB.......different story now that she's well on the way to
thinness:D

Honestly Jan I think that you should say something, it doesn't have to be rude, just along the lines of you've addressed and dealt with your weight issues and you'd appreciate it if she kept her comments to herself.......then comment on her weight problem and eating habits, honestly not nastily, and ask her how she likes it?!

I was pretty lucky in that even my fat friends, of which there are more than thin ones, were quite supportive of me doing LT and we went out for a few meals.....now they just wish that they could do it too but no-one's ever managed more than a couple of days and as for ww? I've been with my friend Terri 3 or 4 times and she never loses more than a couple of lbs despite insisting
that she sticks to it.........

Anyway, you are going to look and, more importantly, feel fab on holiday so who cares what anyone else thinks! X

Jan, that really is a pickle your in over the takeaway. She probably means well. When I visit with friends, so many will ask me about ten times if I want something with my coffee. It is always, cake biscuits, sandwiches etc. sometimes I'll ask for the
meat that was meant for the sandwich. Of course this always leads to the " are you not starving all the time" and I have to patiently explain the GL principle of maintaining blood sugars and then never feeling hungry.
Other times, I just give in and have the biscuit etc. I totally agree that they should just leave us to it.
Whatever food is on offer, eat some and enjoy. Make up for it later. The old 80/20 rule is for these situations. Mind you did the horse account for the full 20%????

Aaarrrrggggghhhh 'friends'!!!

Basically ditto to what all the others said! Do what's comfortable to you!!! I shan't say more for fear of going into repeat rant mode again lol

Sometimes Jan a binge fest is what we/our bodies need ..... just dont let it go on too long. I know you will be back aboard soon enough :D x
